Owner of 2016 (66plate) Discovery 4 that suffered engine failure as a result of seemingly a bodged timing belt change at 100,000 miles at a local JLR specialist …. Spent 2 and a half months waiting for local repair at same specialist that just wasn’t happening, then looked online for other options and found Ali and his team at 4x4 engine rebuilds. I have to admit being located in Carlisle and this business being located in Barking some 340 miles away filled me with concerns and worries that if I sent the car down there I’d never see it again. Decided to make the call if just to get an estimate as was being quoted anything from £7k - £15k at local outfits who couldn’t source replacement engines only to be told that Ali could rebuild engine for approximately half the price of the lowest local quote and would send a recovery operator up to Carlisle to collect the car …. Again alarm bells and concerns but there was something about Ali that put my kind at rest. I was invited to look at independent reviews which to be fair I had already done and found that owners with similar issues with their land rovers had gone through similar concerns and had ALL posted glowing reviews. Ali reinforced the observations by telling me that their policy is to send owners pictures of their cars progress from start to finish so with that I took the plunge and arranged a collection late November 2021. From the moment the car left my sight to the moment I went to collect some 4 weeks later true to word I was sent pictures on a daily basis - from car arriving on site - to strip down - to repair and confirmation of fault - to running - to being foam washed ready for collection. It is fair to say that the initial estimate went up once true extent of damage was known but additional parts were fully explained before I gave consent to continue and I knew that if Ali was recommending something needing doing it was because it did and was not just to inflate costs. Total cost still came under the lowest alternative local quote I had to throw in a salvaged engine of unknown history that in my view would not be as good as my original engine being rebuilt …… Cut a long story short I hope I never have to use Ali’s rebuild services again 😂 🤞 but if I did I would do without hesitation and would readily recommend his business to anyone who finds themselves in the same position I did, regardless of how far away they live. I now have a smooth tight running disco that even seems more economic but that could be because I am still driving it like it’s made of glass 😂 So 10/10 to Ali, Faisal and whole mechanic team and it’s a pity it’s just a bit too far to pop down for all my future services …… thanks guys
