I wanted to see Plitvice Lakes and Split and asked Balkan Escape to help. They suggested hotels and tours for me to choose between. Plitvice was a paradise - the most astounding place. We visited on 2 consecutive days and barely noticed that we walked 20km each day as the scenery was so captivating. The 'hotel' turned out to be just a room which confused me at first but I came to understand that it was fitting to the environment. Plitvice is such a rural idyll that swish corporate type hotels would not be right. The Balkan Escape choice was much more respectful to the local environment amd people. We stayed in Imperial House Rooms. The breakfast was substantial and meant we didn't eat then until dinner and visited the local bistros within walking distance. Our hotel on Split was perfect. Beautifully clean, fantastic staff and generous breakfast. The Palace was just there and the beach 15 minutes walk. We had a dental emergency and within minutes of us arriving the wonderful receptionist Dora had organised a dentist for us, an user to get there (through her account as we didn't have one) and then an user to collect us and take us to the beach. We were very grateful. Maja at the hotel suggested walks and restaurants and we followed her suggestions gratefully. All.organisation was done by Bslkan Escape and could not have been smoother. This included flights and check-ins and transport from airports to hotels and between hotels. All taxis turned up exactly on time and we're comfortable. Hotels were ready for our early check-ins. This made for a very relaxing and easy holiday.
