At Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport, my husband and I were approached by a CLEAR staff member at a CLEAR podium. We were told that there was a “special signup drive” offering a free CLEAR membership. Based on this verbal assurance of a free trial, we agreed to sign up, believing there would be no charge. At no point did the representative disclose that our credit card would be charged $318, nor did we authorize such a charge in writing, and we were not told of any trial periods. We recently discovered (three months later) that $318 was charged to our account. When I contacted CLEAR, I was told that CLEAR has never offered a membership, which means the representative misled us. This is a clear violation of consumer protection laws, as we were induced to sign up under false pretenses. I thought we could trust this company since it was doing business in the airport. What goverment agency would allow a company that gives false information to conduct business in the airport? It is so disgraceful that the goverment countinues to let a company that has so many complaints to operate in a airport.
