The negatives:
- Bigger/bulkier/heavier than true backpacking tents and hammocks
- Learning curve setting up the tent. I have used my Flite ~10 nights and have always had to make significant adjustments after the first night but that 2nd night has always been way more comfortable than any traditional hammock tent
- Rainfly should be lighter and have bigger surface area to stake it out better (regardless, to the ground or the straps)
- The Flite is not a 2 man tent. It’s really meant for one person and a backpack. My son uses his REI hammock
The positives:
- If car tenting, significantly less and lighter gear.
- Once set up, the most comfortable side sleep in camping I’ve had
Overall, the price is higher than comparable set ups, it’s bulkier and heavier for backpacking and the setup is still tricky for me after limited use but the comfort once set up well is great, which is the difference in 3 stars vs 4 stars to me
