I had been planning on taking my three teenage daughters on a backpacking trip and wanted to ensure the experience increased their appreciation of the outdoors, improved their relationship with nature, and provided a measure of self-reliance that can only be experienced by packing in all the gear they needed. I wanted their first backpacking trip to be a magical experience that they would reminisce on and look forward to repeating. I also wanted them to have the most amazing experience possible without some of the detractors that are inherent with backpacking, like sleeping on rocky, rooty surfaces, and being uncomfortable. After extensive research I decided that Tentsile was the way I could accomplish all my goals. I purchased the 3-person Stingray with the goal of making the trip the most awesome and comfortable experience possible. While not necessarily meant for backpacking, I found I could carry the stringray relatively comfortably on the trail for the couple miles to the site. Set-up of the stingray was simple and was completed in about 30 min on the first try. My Daughters had reviewed the setup video at home and we felt we could accomplish our first setup at the campsite since we didn't have suitable trees at our home. My daughters enjoyed the Stingray for Four consecutive nights while my wife, our dog, and I slept in a tent. Listening to my daughters tell stories and night and point out constellations was everything I hoped it would be. The following morning my daughters raved about how comfortable they were and how much they enjoyed staring at the night sky. Each morning the same rave reviews were said.
