I’d eat mostly healthy foods for my main meals, but I binged on junk from about 3 pm until about 9 pm, constantly going to the kitchen to have just a little bit more. When I was out, I had very little self-control, especially in situations where there was finger food available. Then, I'd beat myself up pretty much every night before going to bed and promise to change the next day. This self-sabotage was on repeat for me for years, if not decades, and even though I knew about it, I couldn't stop it. My exercise has been mostly good for a long time and has included long-distance running and gym work. Diet has been my major challenge, and even though my exercise was OK, I've had a few decades of steady weight gain. Over this time, I've tried pretty much everything out there—low carb, paleo, fasting, cutting out alcohol, counting calories, etc., and nothing had really stuck. Then I read a post on Medium, and it was like a lightbulb came on. I realized it was all about long-term, sustainable weight loss, not the quick fix/yo-yo diets I've tried before. Before I started with MyBodyTutor, I had the usual surface-level positivity feeling of "this will be great." But, I also had a deeper-level fear that I'd fail again, like all my other attempts, which would reinforce my self-sabotage and habits. I had to discover what was going on at a deep level and change it. I was also concerned about the cost. I've spent so much on this stuff over the years that I thought it'd be more money I've wasted, and I resisted that. I'm also a very independent person and struggle to ask for help in most situations. I wasn't sure about the value of having a coach for my health or if I'd get anything out of it. After so many failures, MyBodyTutor was my last shot at breaking the cycle of self-sabotage and bad habits. If not, I was facing years of being overweight/obese and all the health problems that go with that. Even though I knew all the bad health outcomes were coming down the track, I simply couldn't change. So I had high expectations of the program, but as weird as it may sound, I also had high expectations that I'd fail again. I lost around 10 kg (22 pounds) with MyBodyTutor and reached my goal. I've got a new set of healthy habits that are now second nature to me, so I can call on them pretty much whenever I need to. I can pass by food in the kitchen without wanting to eat it. I can go to parties and eat and drink moderate amounts. I know how to make progress with my diet and exercise every day, knowing it's always about progress, not perfection. I will stuff up sometimes—maybe for a meal, maybe longer—and that's actually OK, and how most people are. I know how to get back on track and have the tools to keep me there forever. Trust me, after trying nearly every other diet and health program out there, MyBodyTutor is different. It is the only one that gets deep into what's truly going on with habits, mindset, and self-sabotage and works to change those in a sustainable way. It's not about a quick-fix diet to lose 5 kg in a week only to gain it all back. Instead, it's about coaching, support, and accountability to make small changes that lead to big changes. These changes gradually become second nature, and they do create the new you—forever. After decades of looking for something which would be the last "diet" I ever tried, I basically just stumbled on MyBodyTutor. Still, I questioned the value of it and resisted signing up for weeks. But in the 'end,' I've hit my goal weight and am lighter than I've been in 3 decades. It's such a relief after trying for so long. But more importantly, I know I can stay at that weight because I got to the bottom of the reasons I was continually failing and self-sabotaging and because I also have a new set of habits that are now second nature to me. My only regret is not finding MyBodyTutor earlier and then not signing up as soon as I found it. This is unquestionably the best investment I have ever made for my health and well-being. Having a coach and the accountability and support that goes with it is what I needed to change, to understand how I work, what my habits were, and how I could change them. If you're thinking about joining, give it a shot. I'm sure you will find it life-changing, just as I have.
