I tried counting calories, exercising, and other programs, but making the changes I needed to make was the biggest obstacle. I wanted to lose 10–15 pounds and be stronger and healthier so I could be an active mom for my husband and three kids.
My husband had joined MyBodyTutor and was doing great, and he encouraged me to give it a try.
Before I started, I had just quit working and was going to be a stay-at-home mom. And my biggest fears about joining were that I'd be forgotten and lonely, that there wouldn't be any structure, and that I'd have to do tasks I didn't want to do. I also had a lack of confidence in going to a gym.
Since starting, I have lost 13 pounds and have maintained this loss for about a month. I have formed the habit of working out and lifting weights to continue to get leaner. I have more energy and confidence. I've also tried new meals and snacks that I never knew about before that are nutritious and tasty.
The biggest difference with MyBodyTutor compared to other programs I've tried is the personalized coaching. On days I struggled or had a question about how to make a snack or meal healthier, my coach was quick with encouraging feedback. In the past, if I had a bad day for logging food, I would feel shame and embarrassment. But my coach was always positive and encouraging, as opposed to shaming.
Also, my coach went above and beyond just healthy eating. She encouraged me to identify other types of goals, and this was a huge motivator and game changer. She continually had me set realistic goals with a time frame that was a challenge but so rewarding when I accomplished them!
For me, the most beneficial tool is to be mindful. Mindful of hunger, fullness level, one thing I can change to make this meal healthier. I wrote a sticky note and placed it on my pantry, "How will this serve me?" This seemed so small but also so meaningful. I would highly recommend MyBodyTutor!
