Did not turn up cost me money to get home

Purchased a dashcam and booked and paid for a home fitting, took day off work, no one turned up, spoke to two advisors at RAC shop, both promised to investigate and get back to me, this didn’t happen. To date I haven’t received any explanation or apology, I chose RAC over Halfords even though they were slightly more expensive as I thought RAC were a more professional and established company. In future I will steer well clear of RAC.

Our car broke down 10 miles from home, couldn’t leave it and walk back as it is a classic car. We rang at 13.15, they gave an ETA of a couple of hours… it is now 18.07 and after several ETA updates they now say 22:30!! 9 hours!! And that is only an ETA and could change. We are old retired folk and not happy.

Our car broke down yesterday 1:40 pm and RAC made us wait on the side of A1M motorway until 8:10 pm. That’s 6 and half hours! Even though we told RAC multiple times that we are with a baby and a puppy. They literally did not care. After paying RAC for over 15 years, the service we have received so far is absolutely disgraceful, dangerous and disappointing. It’s the second day and we are still stuck and our own way as RAC has failed miserably.

My partner's daughters's car won't start, and she has been waiting for help for help for 5 hours so far. She has a 14 month old baby with her, and it's cold and wet. Every update she has received thus far has pushed back the help arrival time back further. You don't offer breakdown service for free, it's paid for. At this point, I don't believe what you have supplied today can even be described as service. You need to lift your game RAC.

I needed to upgrade my cover through my insurance company. My insurers were brilliant. The RAC was diabolical: it took nearly 3 days to persuade them I had upgraded. Different people told me different things, didn't make notes in my file when they promised they would, tried to convince me there wasn't a problem, kept putting me back in a loop of bots until I thought I was going insane. Never again. Go to the AA - they're much better.

I was stuck on top of the moor with a flat tyre . The woman was so rude and inferred that I could be towed 20 miles. With a flat tyre ?? I really don’t think so ! They could find no one to rescue me and were only interested in my policy which didn’t cover flat tyres not even to come out ! They were going to charge me call out fees even though I had a policy . 4 hrs later I was sent a mobile tyre fitter and paid him call out and fitting . But do these people know what they are doing ?? Not impressed with their attitude and lack of interest in an emergency ‼️

I had a flat tyre, being a woman, I didn’t have the strength to change it mysel, reported the flat tyre at 2.20pm and they arrived the following morning at 10.30…… whilst on the phone with them, they asked me if I could ask my neighbours for help! Second experience was a broken back screen, they said they would not cover this as it was my fault so I would have to pay for them to get me back home! I have level 4 which is the maximum you can get!

Broke down in the middle of nowhere with 3 young children one being disabled. The RAC took 13.5 hours to get to us, left us in the dark and cold over night with constant promises of arrival times. It was awful, we felt very vulnerable and unsafe. The RAC don’t care about you or your circumstances, they just want you money and then will supply you with a sub standard service. AWFUL!!

We had a flat tyre when we rung up we were told tyres aren’t covered we then found out it was the spring that had broken and split the tyre so we rung back and was told that isn’t covered either we were stuck at the roadside on Saturday afternoon I made a complaint but got no reply for many weeks and then was told because they arranged a mobile tyre fitter which I stopped when I saw it was a broken spring the case is closed.

The RAC are the worst breakdown/ recovery service I have ever used The patrol man/ mechanic was rude and abrupt And a complete liar The customer service people at the other end of the phone are equally rude I have got no idea why anyone uses them I am over 300 miles from home with a dead battery the patrol man told me to go to quick fit Not sure how I can do that when my car won't start As soon as I get home I will cancel Absolutely appalling service

Called the rac as I could not gain entry to my vehicle, they arrived tried gaining entry with the key and a pair of grips which he force lock around and broke it doing so . He then went through the passenger side denting top of door once în he could not open the driver door due to him breaking handle and locking so he force the door open which left the door unable to open or close so he took the whole door internals out breaking all clips and brackets .after he broke all the door and locks he said take it to a garage gave me a strap to hold the door shut .rac have given me a 8 week window to investigate further with no car and no help absolutely disgusting customer servise and as for the technician he should be reviewed lack of knowledge would not trust rac again very disapointing.

I ordered my tyres from RAC tyres and picked the earliest install date offered which was a week away. The earliest date was the day before the time I REALLY needed them. I wanted earlier just in case, but there just wasn't the option for that. Unfortunately when I arrived at the fitters the wrong tyres had been sent. The right make and size, but one was correct and the other the wrong model. Rather than focus on trying to figure out if they could get the correct tyre to the fitters the same day they spent hours and hours calling the fitters trying to figure out collection of the wrong tyre. They promised calls back but each time I had to call them. It took them over 4 hours to finally say, oh we can't help you today. I wasted SO MUCH TIME dealing with them and now I'm left too late in the day to go anywhere else. So now I don't have the tyres ready for tomorrow when I needed them! Their only fix is to look at rebooking for a week's time. If they'd told me at the start they couldn't solve the problem the same day I'd have been able to go elsewhere. Instead they waste my time until I run out of time to book somewhere else. What a totally useless company to deal with. Never using them again.

I have been a RAC member since 2000, every year my membership is renewed , this year my membership was review for £274 , which quite high price , so therefore i call RAC 18th march to make a arrangement in installments or i would need to cancel as i cant afford it and also i would not have suffiicent moneis in My BanK account where i have a morgage and other essential bills going out. Today 27th march and i have not recieved once call from RAC to make this arrangement and i have been told by there sales and customer service team the money has been been taken out from my account with any authorisation and they will take 14 days for the refund to happen . also they will charge additional £25 for cancellation fee, so this how they treat loyal customers who have been a member since 2000 , 24 years , shame RAC, all this could have been avoided if your set up a installment plan

My clutch went on me on the way to Manchester. I phoned them at 06.15, they turned up at 10.15. The driver insisted I needed to steer my car behind a tow bar. When he uncoupling me he drove off and I had to push my car into a suitable position.

What awful service from the office waited from 13.16 pm ,had to wait till 20.15 to be told that I'm not covered, as my wife was originally driving but had to send her home by taxi ,even though I have a policy with them , told I wasn't tje original driver ,very rude unhelpful Call team .Will not reason or listen

Pay for full cover. Initially told 2 hour wait then 4 hours then just received a call to say they are not coming at all!!!! No apology and no refund!
