We are an elderly couple who broke down in the pouring rain at 9pm the best service they could offer was an estimated attendance between 11:40pm and 2:40 am in the morning with no guarantee that it would not be later. My husband is also diabetics. They felt it appropriate to leave us for up to 6 hours in the middle of the night. We got a taxi home and our friends helped us the following day to get our car to the garage. Seriously this is not a service - shame on you RAC - never again - buyer beware!!

Waiting 3 hours but when I first called I was told 45 minutes. Got a phone call back saying 15 minutes. Then another phone call back 30 minutes later saying 15 minutes. It's an emergency and 3 hours later, I'm out stuck waiting for the RAC! I wish I had chosen the AA!!!!

Have been with them on and off for years. Very happy. Renewed today for my wife. Discussed with Sally M at Manchester. What a wonderful telephone manner. Top marks to Sally!

From first call to car recovery 27hours Is that a record with 48 phone calls from me in between this time frame trying to get correct info ,hire car was organised but collection was 125 miles away? In the wrong direction Yes they organised a taxi at the cost of £195 paid by rac. When I questioned the rac saying why did they not use the one 27 miles away the said oh they thought it would be closed on a sunday this cost me my sanity and 30 stressful hours I'm never gona get back .I did try and book car in to a local garage to get sorted as it was only a £250 fix at the most bur rac could not commit to get car there within the time frame garage could fit me in also asked if I could get a hire car from them on first day and I would get out a Mobil macanic but that's not an option either of these options would have cost maybe £125 either for a 2day hire or a private recovery truck but in the end cost rac £500 and still have to recover my car now over 500 miles over the next 5 days not including my and my families stress. They really need to reevaluate there finances

Paid £162 for them to come and start my car, still waiting 10 hours later. Every time I phone for an update I basically get fobbed off. Never had such horrendous service from a breakdown company who trumpet themselves as the best.

Thanks to the excellent Matthew who went beyond in Sandy on Friday 16th around 15.00. Was extremely quick arriving and sorting the new tyre. Was friendly, efficient and went above and beyond. Ensured tyres were right and did a battery check. Many thanks to him, hope RAC recognise his efforts.

They charged me 162 pound to come and start my car, and they told me to go to a garage myself to see what is wrong. So what i paid for exactly? The charge is too high just to come and check. You are taking the money from people who are in trouble. It is disgusting.

While on my way to work in Halifax on Saturday my van broke down and a RAC guy called Kyle atended , He's a good guy, professional and safety conscious. Today i had a blow out on the m62 nr J 24 and Kyle was the Rac guy who turned up again, Professional, polite and friendly and did everything he could to repair while advising my safty and his own , A true professional and a big thank you again. Ten out of ten. Best wishes paul.

Broke down on a Saturday evening at 6PM, with what turned out to be a massive puncture. Contacted RAC and was informed a patrolman would attend, estimated arrival 7.30-8. No further contact from them. After several phone calls to chase them up, during which my breakdown was apparently 'escalated', it had no impact at all. No one had turned up by midnight so I limped at 10mph to the nearest town (15 miles away) as tyre was 'drive flat', and managed to get a room for the night. Phoning RAC in the morning I was told they couldn't have done anything anyway and would just have tired us to a tyre place. If they'd told me this when I informed them of the problem then I'd not have needed to sit, freezing, for 6hrs waiting in vain when they knew all the time that they couldn't do anything. So annoying. Membership now being cancelled!

Very bad service. My car broke down on saturday night. Sunday morning i was sent a patrol. He couldn't fix the problem and was keen to leave it to any garage and didn't update me with any details of the garage. He was not even ready to wait for us to make a decision on which garage to take to. Monday morning i had to chase it up with RAC to find the details of the garage where my car was sent to. And its two days and noone has even looked into the problem and i'm stranded without a car. Really disappointed with the service. very poor communication. How quick did the company reply to your queries? - Never (there is no option never)

terrible outfit i called them out to my car on the first of march, over 4 hour wait and they recovered me to local garage,my local garage said they could not repair it the repair had to be done at a german specialist garage so i was back to square one.a week after the breakdown managed to get the car just down the road from my local garage and called the rac, four and a half hours later got a text saying dean was half an hour away, when he got there he said we recovered you here a week ago and we will not recover you twice i explained the situation and he was not interested or sympathetic charged me £121 for the recovery to the german car garage even though i had 1 recovery left for the year, and it got worse he said i would now have to wait for the pick up truck even though when i logged the breakdown i stated i would need recovery,so waiting again after two and a half hours i was getting worried that the garage my car was booked in for would be shut, then i got a call from a woman saying rac had given the recovery to them and they would be about one and a half to two hours, anyway fifteen minutes later a local pick up truck turned up it was like a breath of fresh air as soon as i got home i cancelled the firm is not fit for purpose (73 year old pensioner)

Rubbish company to deal with. Customer service is in India (They say they are in Manchester when you call but clearly not!) I cant understand what they are saying because there English language is so bad. This will be the last year I deal with them after 17 years of being with the RAC!
