I travelled 6 hours by train to collect a BMW M4 comp pack. The car was described as immaculate. They even sent me a video of the car and pointed out no issues on the car. Upon my arrival to the Preston motor store I could not believe that the car which was described as immaculate was covered in stone chips and scratches. The salesman was an absolute disgrace, firstly for presenting a £35000 car in the state he presented it in. Secondly he seemed to think that it was acceptable for a £35000 car to have stone chips and scratches, he offered no apology for wasting my time. I then had a 6 hour train journey home. Lost a days pay and over £340.00 in train fares. Which I am currently pursuing back from Arnold Clark. The car was completely misrepresented by the salesman, absolutely disgraceful. Do not trust these people.

We recently purchased a Renault Clio from Arnold Clark in York. My Wife and 5 year old child were nearly involved in a fatal accident after the wheel fell off a car we last had inspected by Arnold Clark. After collecting this 8k vehicle with a brand new mot we quickly realised there was a fault with the brakes, after expressing our concerns with Arnold Clark they suggested we carried on driving the vehicle with dangerous brakes (as quoted by a third party mechanic) until they could fit us in for a repair, i refused! After some heated conversations Arnold Clark agreed to repair the brakes. Some time later my wife was driving towards York, she felt a uncontrollable judder then saw her front left wheel over take her!!! it transpired that the other side was also loose after been tested by the AA recovery team. I immediately contacted Arnold Clark to get my wife's car recovered, they said they couldn't as they were too busy, i then had to (at my own cost even though we had Arnold Clark cover) get the car recovered and taken to Arnold Clark! It was apparent on our arrival they had absolutely no interest that a vehicle they last worked on had, had a wheel fall off, they accepted no responsibility and suggested we pay to repair all the damage and in the mean time i could rent a vehicle off Arnold Clark!!! We lodged a complaint with their head office which they proceeded to delete mid way through without notifying us, they apologised but said they did it because i contacted our insurance company!!! they admitted they made a mistake, we received a email 2 hours later saying they still admit no liability. Our insurance company will not cover us because apparently a wheel falling off a vehicle at 50mph is not a accident!!! The long and short of it is we bought a vehicle with a questionable MOT, faulty breaks and it just so happens the two wheels they last worked on fell off and the other was not adequately tightened. They have given no explanation as to why the wheel has fallen off, i naturally can not let my family drive it without knowing the reasons, we recently attempted to reject the vehicle as our consumer rights allow however they are now refusing. My wife has suffered whiplash, if it was the other wheel she could of killed someone or herself, she has not slept well since the incident, we are now having to rent a vehicle, we are not insured and Arnold Clark refuse to help. This is everything thats bad about big business in the UK, it is apparently acceptable to sell dangerous vehicles and walk away without a care knowing someone could of been killed. If you have a vehicle bought, serviced, maintained or even touched by Arnold Clarke i would suggest you get it inspected by a third party. I would please ask you share this as i fear next time someone might be seriously injured or die, i would also like it sharing as company's should not be allowed to get away with this. Any advise or previous issues with Arnold Clark would be appreciate. I feel if enough people see this they will have no option but to take it seriously. Obviously several email, letters and conversations have been had with several organisations and the above text has been written as a brief explanation/overview. Thank you for taking the time to read.

When my second service was due I informed the Service department I had an oil leak from the front of the car and would they check it out, on completion of the service I was informed the leak was coming from the sump plug but had now been rectified, ( it was previously serviced by them). A few weeks later I took the car for its first mot, the mechanic informed me there was an oil leak from the timing chain and it looked like it had been for awhile. I called Arnold Clark customer service who advised me to take it to a main dealer as there was still manufacture’s warranty remaining. My local dealer confirmed there was a leak and they would have to have the car for two days to complete the work, this on a car that’s only done 21,200 miles and only a few weeks after the service. I can’t help feeling was it ever leaking from the sump plug? and they knew it was a job they didn’t want to do. However I don’t think I’ll be going back to Arnold Clark.

Arnold Clark are great at selling cars ,but after having the car for over 2 month when it broke down they weren't intested .Was told to get it towed in and get it fixed but would have to pay for it . Took car to Toyota dealer and was back on the road the same day at no charge . Wont be buying another car from Arnold clark.

I think the company should change its name to Pontius Pilate Ltd as it accepts no responsibility for anything. See you in Court.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. MOT for car took over 2 weeks with very poor communications, false promises and don't call back. Charged for work twice with own staff admitting the costs are high. Still waiting to speak to manager and still no car.

Why there is so many bad reviews connected to Arnold Clark?! They must be scums from competition - that was what I thought before I decided to buy my next car from Arnold Clark again as my previous experience was always brilliant. Unfortunately I was wrong… I am existing Arnold Clark customer. My previous car was purchased in Arnold Clark. My father in law and two brothers in law also have their cars from Arnold Clark. Everybody were always happy both from cars they selected and service provided. That was in the past. I decided to buy a Ford Galaxy Titanium X 2017 from Manchester store (Winsford Vauxhall). I live a far away from this place so based on my previous brilliant experience I decided to relay on videos with car presentation provided by Arnold Clark and get it without personal inspection. I ordered collection to Nottingham store. Based on these videos I was sure that only one downside of this car is some scratches on one alloy wheel - I have been reassured that it will be fixed before they send a car out - not as bad I thought - I am taking it! On my car collection day they showed me where the car is and ask to make a transfer. While I was doing a transfer and paperwork the car has been driven out the store and parked outside. On my inspection I noticed many stone chips on the bonnet, lots of scratches on plastics inside the car and interior trims. That’s 5 year old car - all of them will have some scratches, but in my car was a hole in the interior panel next to the floor (diameter 3in!) and 1 inch tear on leather passenger seat! I never would even assume that it is possible to Arnold Clark to sell car worth £20k with 1 inch tear in passenger seat… The worst thing is non of the above was mentioned in two video car presentation I received. From my point of view it has been done in purpose for selling purpose. I can’t understand how Arnold Clark expect to have a good reviews if they do things like that. In my opinion it supposed to be fixed before putting a car on sale. If they can’t repair it or don’t want to it is still fine as far as they will highlight it on video car presentation to allow customers decide if they want a car with such a downside for the price and repair it by it self. When I contacted my product consultant he said that Arnold Clark will fix a bonnet and passenger seat but unfortunately can’t do nothing about a hole next to a floor or scratches on alloy wheel. There wasn’t any update since that phone call. When I emailed him a couple of days later, he said he will organise 3rd party company to fix a seat AND He also said that he ordered a touch up pen for the stone chips on the bonnet for self application and get that posted out to me if I don’t like how it looks like… Almost 2 weeks later - nothing has been done so far - no updates at all My previous experience with this company was brilliant. I don’t know if I was lucky or it got worse now. One thing I now for sure is to never ever relays on video presentation as they are in my opinion misleading. Unfortunately if we want to buy a car we still physically need to go and have a look on it and even order a pre purchase inspection check by 3rd party company. That being said I hope that such reputable (or it used to be) company as Arnold Clark will return to its high service standards in some point in the future so customers will have their piece of mind alternative to buying cars from privet people

Made the sales agent aware that I am travelling all the way from Manchester to see the car I wanted (a 63 reg Mazda 6) which was in Kirkcaldy and I was assured numerous times that the car is in great condition and there are no issues with it. Arrived there, went for a test drive, during which I heard the passenger mirror making some strange noise. When I asked about it I was told that someone will have a look at it when we get back at the dealership. Once we arrived back I spent a few more minutes to inspect the body work and the engine bay. During this time I noticed that the front bumper was cracked indicating that the car has been involved in some sort of accident. They obviously tried repairing it but wasn't done properly. The sales agent said that he wasn't aware of this issue (which is quite hard to believe). While he agreed to return the £100 deposit I paid to reserve the car, when I asked for my travel expense to be reimbursed I was told that it hasn't been approved by the manager. So I have wasted £200 and a day of my life because of their dishonest description of the car. Submitted 2 formal complaints on Arnold Clark's website and I was told somebody will be in touch within 48 hours. 2 weeks later and nobody has contacted me. Avoid Arnold Clark! By the way, the car's reg was SK63 WGM - in case any of you wants to buy it, DON'T!

I am now having to deal with citizens advice after being told by an Arnold Clark salesman that I bought a 62 plate what should I expect (water in the main computer, which has had it's cover badly removed presumably in an attempt to dry it out) and that is following horrendous service I received when I discovered the timing was out due to the new timing belt being incorrectly fitted and had to be done again. Arnold Clark you are a disgrace and you should be stopped from selling people cars that are not fit for purpose.

I passed my test recently and the first place I wanted to go was Arnold Clark. I had seen loads of advertising about how amazing this place was and how they could get you the best deal, so I felt like I didn’t want go anywhere else. On the day of getting my car, one of the staff members were extremely helpful, walked me through the car park and showed me ever car in my budget and went into depth about the cars, which was great and really helped me when I needed to make a decision. I signed all the paperwork, everything was great until I noticed, a day or two later that my bumper was falling off. It’s been a couple months and still no one is fixing it. My battery also went flat and even though I’ve got warranty, they told AA to charge me. I hadn’t even had the car 2 month. It’s all smiles until you get the car, then if there’s an issue, they’re not bothered to try and fix anything. Terrible service

From start to finish the salesman, customer service and rudeness. At the time of purchase was made to wait for hours on four occasions. Promises were made which weren’t fulfilled. Was told they would provide floor mats for the car which I didn’t get for over three months. That even after numerous phone calls. Promised they would call back but never did!! I was told that the car was serviced and after 10 months the warning lights came in the car that I needed oil and filter changed!! Salesman Ronnie Greig was rude before and after purchase. He was biased and treated me badly being of Indian origin. Criminals and cowboys!! Wow never purchase another car from them

DO NOT TRUST ARNOLD CLARK PERTH. Arnold Clark deserve ZERO stars. When buying a new car you want 3 vital things: reliability, safety and security. My nearly new Peugeot offers none of these. But Arnold Clark don't care - they just take your cash to hit their monthly targets and walk away. After the sale they refuse to resolve issues despite selling you a lemon - even when the car is one of their own registered vehicles and is under Peugeot's manufacturer warranty. Shockingly bad service. Arrogant, disrespectful Perth General Manager who hides in his office. Rude sales team who just try to sell you another, lesser car to help them hit their next target. Rude servicing staff who speak to you like you're an idiot. Useless mechanics who repeatedly take the car in to fix the issue only to return it with a new one. They can never work out and fix the problem even though they take your car away for days at a time... a whole week last time! Arnold Clark can't repair locally either, instead they expect you to drive miles and miles away to other Arnold Clark garages in Scotland. You have to take more and more time off work and chase constantly. With no courtesy car you're expected to find your own way back from the other side of the country by bus, train or taxi. In the beginning Arnold Clark Stirling staff even advised me to complain to Head Office at the poor level of service from Perth!! Having already had to take so much time off work and having already had to shell out for multiple taxis, I have given up on Arnold Clark and been forced to go to another local dealer - staff there are not at all surprised by my negative experience! Only wish I had known of Perth Arnold Clark's poor local reputation before I parted with my hard earned cash! Arnold Clark's level of customer service is wholly unacceptable. I regret buying from Arnold Clark. I will never buy from or hire from Arnold Clark again. Buyer beware - please do your due diligence and think twice about buying from Arnold Shark!!

Arnold Clark sold me a faulty car. They buy their cars at auction and patch them up. They consistently lie to you too. I have reported them to Trading Standards and I will tell everyone I know about my terrible experience. Avoid at all cost. The car I purchased lost power on the motorway. The gear box has failed and they laughed and said cars break down all the time. AVOID ARNOLD CLARK.

Dishonest Vehicle Servicing We have bought our last 2 cars from Arnold Clark, after taking our most recent for a service (included when we bought the car) and we were advised that our from pads needed changing and we were quoted, what I consider a high price. They also said we needed 2 new tyres, again charging a premium for doing the work. We rejected the work due to the cost and booked the car into my local garage that we have used for years. After inspection the pads needed no work and I checked the "bald" tyres with the lowest reading showing 3.4mm. I find this shocking, I always recommended Arnold Clark as the sales service has been great, unfortunately I feel like they have tried to be deceitful with the after sales and service and will no longer buy from them. Date of experience: 03 August 2023

Please please do not buy from ANY Arnold Clark branch. The cars they sell are not fit for purpose. The sales people and managers tell the most disturbing lies! They really do think they can walk over anybody. The WORST buying experience of my life. Vehicle rejected by finance company as problems started after 9 days of ownership. The warranty/ service promises are absolutely ridiculous- not worth £1 let alone 100s. What they don’t tell you is wherever you get that vehicle from ( usually Scotland) is the ONLY branch that you deal with. So being 400 miles away diesnt really offer much hope when you have bought a complete pile of un drivable Cr**! horrible people, useless cars and even the CEO couldn’t care less. Please avoid or if you have been stung- fight them all the way. They need closing down!

Me and my partner bought a Peugeot back in September, within days of having the car we we phoned in to report a knocking noise coming from the front of the car. When I took the car in to be looked at the mechanic took it drive and without even having a look was adamant it was the anti roll bar and drop links, he said he’d order the parts and get us booked in when we came back from our holidays. That was in September and the parts still haven’t come, not only that the engine management light came on so I booked it in for its service and they diagnosed the knocking noise as coming from the gear box. A fault that will cost thousands and thousands of pounds to repair or replace. And surprise surprise, they are claiming now it’s out of warranty they won’t fix it even though the fault was reported well within the warranty period. But are willing to replace the anti roll bar that doesn’t actually need replaced and haven’t been in rush to fix for the past 7/8 months. I’ve raised a complaint with head office, I’ll be seeking legal advice and reporting them to trading standards and the motor ombudsman regardless of this outcome. Please anyone reading this, you may get a better deal at Arnold but for the sake of saving a few pound save yourself all the stress and time spending your hard earn money costs with dealing these clowns and go somewhere else that values your custom. Arnold Clark don’t give a hoot about it’s customers, if it did it’s after care wouldn’t let the after care it’s customers have to endure so painstaking and difficult.
