I just took this insurance few weeks ago. I found the broker whilst getting a confused.com quote. Before I made the insurance I tried to dig quite deeply in the Autonet website and see what are their fees and all I managed to find was a £7.50 fee and I naively felt lucky. Unfortunately once I did the insurance I was sent the contractual conditions and I could actually see there there are plenty of fees for changes, cancellations and so on which are all £39 plus. I truly hope I will go for a year of no claims as I am not impressed with the integrity. Also they don't record more than 9 years of NCB so I am interested to see at the end of it if my 12 years will become 9. I hope by next year in March my opinion will change but for now I am unhappy with them hiding the fees.

As always the friendly tone changed as soon as I had paid my premium, within minutes received email saying policy would be cancelled unless they received my driving license details which you must upload.... I have no idea how to upload documents so I asked if I could send them by post which seemed to cause them problems as if no one does this anymore. come back high street insurance brokers all is forgiven.

Hi, Thank you for your comments and for taking the time to get in touch. I am sorry to hear that you aren't happy however it is our process to charge a fee when completing a mid-term adjustment this is to cover the administration costs. easy to get insurance with BUT be aware of their finance department. They take 3 payments in the first month your initial payment then a payment with 7 to 14 days after and then again and the end of the month. They are also slow in producing the payment schedule. So be aware before you take out finance with them. I have stayed with them but will be watching my bank account very closely

Was offered a quote based on information that I was asked for (NCB on other vehicle, being a motorbike) via comparison website. After paying premium was told that motorbike was unacceptable & that I would need to pay 25% more to keep insurance, or pay a cancellation fee. Several telephone calls later, much frustration and repeated automated emails from Autonet telling me I had not submitted the correct documentation, eventually led to an apology & me being told that my premium would not be affected after all. Low review is due to the amount of time & energy that I had to spend getting the situation rectified.

Any tiny change costs you a fortune, a company that wants to get every penny out of you rather than help you. Big mistake as customers wont recommend you if thats how you treat them. Examples :- car change with lower insurance group but costs more according to autonet, need help on phone so have to pay extra £20, Reg plate change according to autonet puts the value of my car up! Ridiculous ! !

Hi, Thank you for your comments, we are sorry to hear that you are unhappy. When making a change of vehicle the underwriters will either increase or decrease their premium depending on whether they deem that vehicle as a higher/lower rating vehicle. Autonet do charge up to £37.50 to administer any amendments to a policy which are disclosed prior to the policy being purchased. If it was just a change if registration you were looking to make there would only be our administration fee that would be applicable. Kind Regards Carly

I didn't get an option to check if the premium was acceptable prior to being informed that my policy had been renewed. I am currently looking for alternate cover. Not impressed at all.

As a new customer there was quite a lot of hassle with uploading photographs of driving licenses, and providing evidence of NCD. This is however not unreasonable, and I completed it immediately as requested. I then got a voicemail the following day from Autonet saying they had checked my NCD with my other insurer (all good) but I had failed to disclose a windscreen claim from 2 years ago. They then immediately charged a compulsory "admin fee" of £14.95. I had no idea a windscreen claim was considered in the Compare the Market question about "accidents, claims and losses". Applying an immediate additional admin fee to a new customer less than 24 hours after taking out the policy is poor, and hopefully not a sign of things to come.

Disappointed that even though the quote shown was £260.99, I was charged £272.15. It is not a huge amount I know - I just don't like being deceived. And yes, I made sure I deselected everything it wanted to add on. I clicked with another insurer and THERE price was the advertised price and did not price hike it. I tried contacting them by phone but although the "gate keeper" as he called himself was very pleasant, after he transferred me to the hold system, I'm afraid that after listening to music and being told how important my call was for the third time, finally gave up. I can only hope that the cover is "as selected" by "thevaninsurer" and hasn't been compromised as well as being charged more for cover. As I don't tend to prang things very often, I will probably never know how good they are "when it comes to the crunch" - so all I have to go on is the fact that the price used to get "pole position" with the "Thevaniinsurer" website was not an honest price.

Hi, Thank you for your comments and taking the time to review Autonet. When a policy is purchased over the phone, a £15 admin fee is charges as standard. This is not charged for policies that are purchased online. From time to time, we do offer additional products that we think may be of interest to our customers, although these can be declined if you wish. We can see that your policy was purchased online, but if you have any further queries we can help with, please let us know. Kind regards Nicola

Fine as long as you don't need to make any changes. I bought a new car which is coming up around £70 cheaper in insurance quotes, changed four months into my policy and it's costing £70 to change the car!!! Previous insurers just calculate the change in cost and take it from there. Also had a ridiculous lengthy process of updating my details on an online chat so took over half an hour!!!!

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. Autonet are an insurance broker and work with various insurers to provide competitive premiums to the market place. When a policy is purchased, it is a 12 month policy based on the information given at the time. If there are changes made to this, such as a change of vehicle, the price set by the insurer may change. Autonet would also charge an admin fee to cover the costs incurred by us. These charges are explained prior to the policy being purchased. Alternatively, we would be able to look for a new policy to cover the new details. I can see that your details have now been updated, but if we can be of any further assistance, please let us know. Kind regards Nicola

Its difficult to evaluate how good Autonet Insurance is without having made a claim. My only experience of any engagement with them was when I was instructing them that I did not want to automatically renew. First of all, unlike the other insurance I had, there is no online 'do not renew' capability - you have to call them up. After pressing 3 or 4 numbers to navigate the menu, I had to endure relentless questioning about why I was not renewing. I told them that I had looked at the Which? reviews and chosen to go with NFU Mutual because of their 5 star defacto rating and the Which? endorsement (no pun intended). In the end I lost my temper and asked if the renewal could just be cancelled. The line went quite for several minutes until I asked what was going on. Eventually it was done and I explained, for feedback, that I understand about market intelligence etc. but they need to make their process slicker - the guy then carried on explaining and explaining. The number I had to call was an 0330 number - I will be checking my phone bill. If this has cost me a lot of money then I will be taking this further.

I had agreed with a van supplier to purchase a van. I then insured that van through Autonet Insurance. The insurance was not due to start for a few days. The van supplier then made a mistake and agreed to supply me with a different van. I am not complaining about the adjustment in the policy itself, that could be classed as fair. What I am disappointed with is that I was charged £37.50 adjustment fee when my policy was barely started. I find this to be a disgrace. In hindsight, I should have possibly activated my 14 day cooling off period and cancelled the insurance and started again. I found the assistant not to be that helpful. I shall be taking steps next year to try and avoid using Autonet again.

Hi Daniel, Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with all aspects of the service that you have received. We can see that a change was made to the vehicle insured not long after the policy started and that this resulted in an admin fee being payable. Although we can understand you are disappointed, these fees, along with our cancellation terms are explained prior to the policy being purchased. If we can be of any further assistance, please let us know. Kind regards Nicola

the person in the call center refused to honor the quotation that came up on go compare. he was just argumentative ,telling me that because the info given this year didn't match the old policy he wasn't going to match the price given. even though i answered every question asked of me . sort it out Autonet

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and for your comments. We have looked into this for you and can see the reason that the price was different in the call centre was due to different information being given compared to when you did the quote online. This was advised politely by our member of staff. When a policy is purchased online, it is important that all information given is correct to ensure that you are insured correctly. Kind regards Nicola
