They have closed my 16 year old's 'Young Person' account only 3 weeks after opening, without any explanation and told her she cannot bank with them ever again. She did NOTHING wrong! She's still in full-time education, not working and has no clue about finances. She hasn't even had time to use her account yet! Took 3 lengthy phone calls just to log a complaint, because the 1st people that picked up were unhelpful and unsympathetic to my daughter's plight (which they have caused!). Banks share information, so the fact she seems to have been blacklisted by Barclays, could affect the rest of her life!!! It just shouldn't happen! Please do not trust Barclays with your child's account. We are so stressed on her behalf that we can't sleep. If the complaint doesn't have the right outcome, then we will have to get a Financial Ombudsman to sort it out. Very sad that they can do this to such young person, who hasn't even started out in life yet. :(

Barclays Bank do not know what customer service is. Today I received correspondence from them inviting me to ring them to discuss. I rang the number provided, followed the prompts on the automated phone service. Received a message saying that my call would be connected to a 'colleague within 5 minutes'. Half an hour later my call was connected to someone who said I was speaking to the wrong department (even though I had followed the prompts). I was put back on hold. Another 5 minutes later I spoke to someone who took me through security, read out a script about how my data would be used by Barclays, then within 90 seconds of me saying what I was ringing about my call was cut off! I tried to book a call back to avoid another wait on hold. That call back was not made by Barclays. I tried to contact through the mobile app chat facility that was useless. I tried to make a complaint through the mobile app and received a message that they would not my problems and use it to 'improve their service' then asked me if that dealt with my complaint adequately. I have now spent the best part of 3 hours trying to speak to someone about the correspondence THEY SENT ME (!) and I have achieved nothing. They are an absolute disgrace

I have given up on Barclays, DO NOT USE THEM FOR BUSINESS ACCOUNTS> they are doing a thing called a "mandate change" where you do what they asked then they lose it in the post if, you call it will be a 2 hr wait minimum cannot get anything resolved 1 issue has been 10 months now still not resolved. moving banks as we speak.

#barclays bank is topping the #worstcustomerservice list. Decided to block my account stranding me and family in Spain with no money. I talked to them 4 days in advance to ensure everything is ok with the account. Still. Now I can’t speak to anyone. #Boycott

Barclays have been asking for me to fill in a form confirming details of my business, I have never received a form, so I tried to phone them, I don't have the time to wait over 2 hours before someone is available to talk to me so I opted for them to phone me back. They phoned back and I explained the situation they said to download the form which the app wouldn't let me, so I asked if they could send a form in the post, a week later we received the letter saying can we fill out the enclosed form but there was no form with the letter. I went into the local branch but they just said it was a different department and they couldn't help me. Barclays have now blocked our debit card and are threatening to close our account if we don't fill out the form that we don't have, I am trying to run a business but cannot access our money funds. We have never been overdrawn with them and have been banking with them since 2009. We are now in the process of changing banks. Barclays are an absolute disgrace and should be avoided.

Literally the worst bank possible. Their reconcile team has robbed of all my money, put my bank account 500.000 overdraft, and left me to die with no money to pay for my bills, my rent, my food absolutely nothing. 0. All that without a single warning or notice. If you bank with Barclays keep your money In another account or you wake up one day robbed and with no money to survive.

I have been banking at barclays for 13 years . They have now frozen my account for their mistake even though I have done everything they have asked for twice. I can't even see what is in my account. I will be changing banks . I cannot see that this bank has much future if this is the way they treat people in this way

My father sadly passed away in November 2022. Prior to his death he discovered his house was not registered so paid a solicitor to release his deeds from Barclays. When he passed away we discovered Barclays never responded to the request so a further request was made from solicitor. Nothing again from Barclays! Since the house has been under offer from February 2023 I have spent approximately 40 hours on the phone trying to access the deeds. I have been in the local branch twice, I have uploaded probate and death certificates online twice, I have posted the documents twice however still no where. They seem to disappear into some black hole. My deceased father then receives a letter asking him to sign a form for his deeds much to my distress. I could not be helped by the bereavement team as my dad did not have an account with them. I therefore made a complaint as the only way to get anything sorted. I was told this would be addressed by April, then May. I was then provided a timescale of 30-40 days for Barclays to release the deeds to me. I was promised a call on the 16 June to confirm all had gone ahead as promised. On the 9 June I received a letter to say the deeds had been released and we should have them. Panicking I contacted Barclays however it took three separate phone calls for one of the handlers to be able to tell me they had been released from secure storage and were being sent to Manchester. Not sure if they were there as no one appears to put notes on the file. I said I would wait for my call on the 16 June as promised to see where they were. I was going away that weekend but on the 16 th kept my phone with me all day. Surprise-no call as promised which then spoilt my weekend away. I called again on my return on the Monday to be told I would be allocated another complaints handler however as everything is on file I would be quickly seen too within a day or two. Well guess what! No call. I called again yesterday 26 June and was told someone will get back to me however the note on file says they are within the 40 days. I explained this was not correct as the 40 days was up on the 16June however taking into consideration when my dad asked for his deeds it is now approaching one year. Despite being told I would receive a call today yet again nothing. The bank is an absolute joke, how can they not tell me where the deeds are and why it is taking so long. Half the staff struggled to find the deeds account and no one appears to update the file. I have not only lost my father but I have been unable to grieve his death properly due to the mental stress and anxiety I have been placed under by Barclays. I have kept the buyer of the house updated but now feel as if I am fobbing her off due to the incompetence of Barclays. If we loose the sale will they pay solicitor fees, estate agent fees as well as any loss if the house price is reduced as well as how this has impacted upon us as a family. I would never back with Barclays and feel putting this review on is my last resort of getting this resolved. Shame on you Barclays

Fraud! Stay away from this horrible institution! Fraudulent fraud advisors from Barclays placed me on a fraud detection system just because I wanted to question some charges. I was questioned like a criminal and mistreated by them. The fact that I stated that I did not want to file any claims was completely ignored! Also I was falsely reported to all three credit bureaus as 4 months past due on my overdraft when I was never past due. It was Barclays that ended without any warning overdraft on my student account and falsely reported me as 4 months late! Their complaints team told me that they support my case and that I would not negatively reported to CIFAS or to the 3 credit bureaus . It all turned out to be a blatant lie. The fact that I had a disability was also completely ignored. I never received such a horrible treatment from anyone in my entire life! I regret to ever opening a student account with Barclays. I am confidently stating now that I do not ever recommend this bank to anyone who wants a student account or for anything else! Barclays Bank and especially their horrible fraud department cannot be trusted!

I was initially a victim of an elaborate scam and was asked to transfer a (for me) a large amount of money. Fortunately I was unable to complete as Barclays blocked my account and after realising what was going on( by now the scammer was getting aggressive) I was able to stand up to them and finish the call. Thanks guys for realising before me what was happening and saved me from devastation. :) The Fraud team were excellent and very supportive.

I am having a terrible experience at Barclays and I am undergoing a lot of stress because of this. I do not trust this bank at all. they have closed my account and been withholding my funds from me since FEB 2023. I have submitted the documentation needed numerous times and i am still running around in circle without my money.

Barclays has been withholding the funds in my mother's bank account for over a year. The EEA closure team contacted her over a year ago and asked her to fill in a form, send them, proof of identity and the SWIFT and IBAN codes for the transfer. She has now done this 3 times. Every time she does it, there is silence for about 4 months and then the EEA closure team contacts her again and asks for the same thing. There is no number to call the EEA team. The customer service department is useless and most of the agents have no idea what you are trying to explain to them. I have been checking online and it would appear many customers are having g the same issues. Barclays has my mother's funds. She has repeated ask them to transfer these funds. They have stubbornly refused to answer. I think it's called theft. Would you like to do something about it?

Where to start: Here are some examples of Barclays failures. Failed to update mandates twice Refused a signature because it was too small despite it having to be confined in a small box on a form. Failed to send deposit forms ordered on web site after phone call sent 5 books of forms. Allowed access to an account without it being requested. Started applying charges to an account which had been charge free without informing the customer. Refused a cheque when a customer was in the process of changing branches. Unintelligible call handlers All these problems involve the same customer.

I went into Barclays in Harrow to arrange a bank transfer. The first lady on the enquiry desk(after advising me no form to fill in)gave me a card with customer service phone number...she was extremely helpful, polite and efficient. I went upstairs to use the phone and the same goes for the lady upstairs. I then ring CS and the lady on the phone couldn't have been any more helpful and efficient even though she was unable to help me(security)advised me to see counter staff. Lady on counter, again, very friendly, efficient, courteous. All in all, each member of staff made my experience completely stress free and I was very grateful and impressed with everyone. Thank you,Barclays!

I am an 83 year old carer for a vulnerable 75 year old.We would draw around 200 fortnightly to buy food, pay a carer and countless other life supporting items The card was mislaid by the 75 year old lady and I rang to suspend it and request a replacement this never arrived. After numerous phone calls including one of 41 minutes I was told the account was frozen and no reason was given.I explained we needed to buy food and other essentials and was told to contact Social Services for this lady who is profoundly deaf has cancer and is bedbounnd most of the time. I think it should be illegal for a bank to act in this cavalier fashion. As I am the ex partner of this lady I will personally fund her until the issue is resolved.Solicitors have also found themselves up against a brick wall with this bank At this moment the position remains unresolved

Terrible bank, they ask you to speak when you try to speak to them but they never WANT to understand. I will be opening an account with another bank, fed up with barclays customer services. I think barclays use the same customer services as amazon in India, probably the reasons why the communication with one's bank is so bad. Their system not working properly neither. tried to open a saving account with them but the popup is hidden by their silly menu bar so never could click anything Complaining is difficult as they just dont want to know

Barclays Mortgages have made an admin mistake which cost us our financial reputation causing our Experian score from Excellent to Very Poor, ruining our financial deals and hundreds of hours of wasted time for nearly 10 months, and the matter is still not resolved despite Barclays fully admitting that is was their fault. Incompetent, negligent, chaotic. No wonder their rating is so bad. We would recommend to stay away from Barclays!
