I have been a barclays customer for 30 years and in the last few years have also set up a business with Barclays. Even though I've been self employed for a couple of years, in the last few weeks I have been receiving texts to inform me that my business bank details are questioned. I filled in their form and received messages thanking me. Now I am receiving more text messages again telling me my details are in question. This morning I have spent 3 hours on hold across two phone calls (meaing that no work is getting done) and I still have no answers. Hey Barclays, instead of sending BS impersonal text messages to your customers why don't you call me!!!? Right now I am wondering why I bother with you. You are litterally putting a stop to any income that I might have today and if you think for some reason that you have my loyalty you're wrong. If you think you can treat me like an idiot you're wrong and if you think you can just put me on hold for 3 hours after you have questioned my details you're wrong. In this critical economy you're actively preventing me from earning today. From now on, if you want any info from me pick up the phone and call me you lazy pigs.

Wish I could give 0 stars. Barclays withdrew my mortgage offer for a made up reason that all of a sudden I have some imaginary unsecured credit, which is a completely made up story so they don't honour the 3% interest rate they gave me in the summer so now I'll have to remortgage with almost double the interest rate. Absolute crooks.

Disgraceful!!! It’s shocking the way Barclays treating their customers. They put my son’s bank account under review without any warning, just after my son received his salary and just a few days before he had to pay his direct debit bills and rent. Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, my son is trapped abroad with his wife and new born baby with NO access to HIS money. Barclays CS are absolutely useless and only follow the scrip when you call them to find out more information. NO ONE at Barclays can give you support - even though you’ve been a customer for many years! Considering current situation with pandemic and how badly it’s affecting people, we have to deal with the banks like Barclays who act no different to a criminals by taking money away from their customers. I’ve been Barclays customer for 10 years now, but definitely will be moving to a different bank as soon as possible. I will advise everyone to avoid Barclays!!! I’m sure, leaving my review here, will not help our situation, but perhaps it will be useful to other people who are considering opening their account with Barclays.

It is the easy jet of banks. Poor customer service who could not care less about the customers and about Barclays reputation. Untidy, ugly and messy branches which the waiting time is minimum of 45 min for a simple banking task. The future of banking does not have a place for Barclays the way they are treating customers now.

Been banking with barclays for 49 years and for most of that time I was treated like family. but this last few years with the ever diminshing contact and service issues are becoming very frustrating. The worst thing for me is the AI interaction on chat. The Bot has zero intelligence and goes round in circles before eventuall connecting you to a 'real' person. Invariably that is someone who fails to read you chat messages and after ;lesving you hangong for ever, comes back with an answer to a question you never asked in the first place. I have to say I am still more than happy with the international team, but the rest are very poor. Get a grip Barclays before customers start leaving in droves

Really useless staff - don't listen to issues and no attempt to solve them. Card doesn't work but they think on their end it is fine so do not rectify it. Someone told me to delete the app and reinstall it and when I did this I couldn't log back in... called and they couldn't help. The list goes on... completely useless and incompetent.

Barclays Bank do not know what customer service is. Today I received correspondence from them inviting me to ring them to discuss. I rang the number provided, followed the prompts on the automated phone service. Received a message saying that my call would be connected to a 'colleague within 5 minutes'. Half an hour later my call was connected to someone who said I was speaking to the wrong department (even though I had followed the prompts). I was put back on hold. Another 5 minutes later I spoke to someone who took me through security, read out a script about how my data would be used by Barclays, then within 90 seconds of me saying what I was ringing about my call was cut off! I tried to book a call back to avoid another wait on hold. That call back was not made by Barclays. I tried to contact through the mobile app chat facility that was useless. I tried to make a complaint through the mobile app and received a message that they would not my problems and use it to 'improve their service' then asked me if that dealt with my complaint adequately. I have now spent the best part of 3 hours trying to speak to someone about the correspondence THEY SENT ME (!) and I have achieved nothing. They are an absolute disgrace

Fraud! Stay away from this horrible institution! Fraudulent fraud advisors from Barclays placed me on a fraud detection system just because I wanted to question some charges. I was questioned like a criminal and mistreated by them. The fact that I stated that I did not want to file any claims was completely ignored! Also I was falsely reported to all three credit bureaus as 4 months past due on my overdraft when I was never past due. It was Barclays that ended without any warning overdraft on my student account and falsely reported me as 4 months late! Their complaints team told me that they support my case and that I would not negatively reported to CIFAS or to the 3 credit bureaus . It all turned out to be a blatant lie. The fact that I had a disability was also completely ignored. I never received such a horrible treatment from anyone in my entire life! I regret to ever opening a student account with Barclays. I am confidently stating now that I do not ever recommend this bank to anyone who wants a student account or for anything else! Barclays Bank and especially their horrible fraud department cannot be trusted!

Barclays has been withholding the funds in my mother's bank account for over a year. The EEA closure team contacted her over a year ago and asked her to fill in a form, send them, proof of identity and the SWIFT and IBAN codes for the transfer. She has now done this 3 times. Every time she does it, there is silence for about 4 months and then the EEA closure team contacts her again and asks for the same thing. There is no number to call the EEA team. The customer service department is useless and most of the agents have no idea what you are trying to explain to them. I have been checking online and it would appear many customers are having g the same issues. Barclays has my mother's funds. She has repeated ask them to transfer these funds. They have stubbornly refused to answer. I think it's called theft. Would you like to do something about it?

Don’t use merchant services or take card payment using Barclays merchant services or their ingenico devices , terrible service , everything is dealt with via call centre in India who cannot do anything at all .. UK Bank with no UK customer, technical or finance services departments actually in the UK ! . I was warned that they were bad but I didn’t think it would’ve have been as much as a nightmare and waste of time dealing with them as it has been …. Go elsewhere.. worst bank ever ! I will be moving bank !

I am treasurer at a local church and from time to time need to get new people on or off our business account. The level of incompetence I've encountered with the Barclays Change Mandate Team is beyond anything I've ever experienced. The change process to bring on new people is stated to take 10 working days. I've so far experienced two occasions of three months and this year an incredible six months. Firstly you have to call them and that takes around 45 minutes just to get through. The robot will talk about exceptional call volumes but that ain't true because it's been like that for two years. When you do speak to a member of the team they will speak with authority, be very polite and get it totally wrong. So you ring back a month later and someone will tell you that they need something else (more signatures, more verification, whatever). 'We're sorry, but the first person got it wrong'. You follow through with that until the next occasion when you have to ring again only to find something else that's wrong. That something else might require an additional visit to a branch. If you can find one and have the time to go there, wait and finally be served by someone who knows less that the Change Mandate Team; then they may get it wrong too. The Barclays Change Mandate Team don't get in touch with you. They don't know their own processes. I assume no-one is trained in them. Certainly their processes were poorly written and never, ever tested. The six month's timescale I referred to above was not six month's of simply waiting. It was six months that included multiple visits to branch, half a dozen LONG phone calls and receipt of obscure meaningless letters from Barclays that worsened already muddied waters. The Barclays Change Mandate Team have zero consideration for their customers. I wonder if in the reverse situation they would like to be treated like this.

It's so pleasant when after too much trouble caused by barclays we decide to switch to another bank and a week later we get a phone call wanting to discuss the reasons of that. It's even more rewarding being able to say f#*@ you to in reply to this phone call after so many abusive threatening messages that your bank account will be restricted or closed. barclays has lost another costumer and I'm so happy for that

Disgraceful attitude towards customers I wanted to transfer £4000 into my sons account as he was going away.on the app only allowed 2k at a time so did the first transfer ok but refused the second. Explained to customer services when they called soon after the transfer was genuine it that obviously wasn’t enough they wanted to know why I was transferring and what it was being for and apparently not happy even though I had passed the security. My app was blocked and they told me to reactivate my account in the bank with id which I did. On asking to get access to the app the asked questions about how I was using the funds to which I told them was a private matter. They told the police to come to the bank to interview me for FRAUD. Totally shocked!! I have been banking with Barclays for over 40 years and did not this blatant disregard for an older wiser and constant customer They really don’t care about the customer and would like to make criminals of them Changing my account straight away in disgust

Wow what can I say that already hasn't been said. My problem is that I tried to pay for items using my card, and according to the card machine my account is closed.... So obviously I wanted answers and quick, Tried the number on the back of the card, and the automated voice recommended using the chat on the Barclays app. The chat connected me the another call, again with a set of extensions, none of them relevent, or "press 0 for anything else". I pressed 0 and was greeted with the automated voice telling me to "please hang up". Now what am I to do? They've closed so many branches, and if there is one open you either queue up for an age, or end up on the app anyway with their guidance. Or do I call another department and hope for the best after a 30 minute wait. ??? Grrrrr I'm so annoyed

Triangle of Death There are three avenues of dealing with Barclays. - Over the Phone - the Chat In the App - In a Branch The phone will refer you to the chat. The chat will refer you to the phone. And lets say you are locked out of the app and cannot access the chat, the phone will refer you to the branch. Now bearing in mind Barclays are closing branches and reducing opening hours for branches, its not really acceptable if you have a major issue Saturday evening and you have to not only wait until Monday before it can get resolved, but you will also have to resolve it in working hours and leave the office. Equally if you raise a complaint with any other company, naturally they can't resolve every conceivable complaint there and then. But when a complaint cant be resolved I would expect them to take details of the complaint and follow up with a written response in say 10 working days should you wish to take the complaint further. The trips to the Branch usually involve dealing with someone who is never quite sure what's going on. Fair enough if they are learning but to then be told to sit down and phone someone, have just been told over the phone I need to go in branch is pretty ridiculous. In Summary: - Barclays customer services will avoid you at all costs. - They will refer you to whoever you aren't seeing. - In every engagement with any representative of Barclays (phone, chat, Branch), once you get past the actual robots you end up dealing with customer service representatives who are so scripted and restricted in what they can and can't do that its like dealing with another robot, having already got past a robot. I have worked in Customer Service, I have also designed automations, and I work in HR for the NHS. and at no point in my career would Barclays level of customer service have ever been acceptable. I would suggest they go into partnership with O2 so they can combine their terrible service, with Barclays terrible customer service.

I will never recommend Barclays at all. So you better choose where to go before you go to Barclays and cry a lot. We normally say poor service but in Barclays there’s no service at all.

This bank are criminals. They just stole the entire contents of my account “because I hadn’t used the account in 3 years”. Uh, I’ve been stranded in Asia because of Covid. They say it will take 12 weeks to “recover the funds”. Run from this bank - your savings are not secure.
