Their website consistently has problems. There was an upgrade last week that seems to have deleted my account. Have been emailing and calling their tech support for days. No answers. Even the Contact Us page goes to a 404 error. Been on hold for hours. No replies. I'd pick a more reputable provider. These guys do not seem to have a good reputation.

I was unable to play any of the video's provided throughout the course. When opening the links provided that redirected me to YouTube, I received a message showing the video is Private. Additionally, I have not received a receipt as advised.

I can’t complain passes with 98%. Didn’t think I’d do that well. Would have liked a little more detail on some parts (had to use other sites) But know more now than I did before.

Terrible customer service. I've called several times during their business hours and emailed them and I have not been assisted with a major issue I had. The website did not allow me to take the final exam, wasting 6 hours of my life going through the modules. The modules force you to wait for a timer to end before moving on to the next slide, even when you finish reading the module 2 minutes before the timer ends.

A deliberate focus on language and question structure that parallels the Canadian transport ministry test would increase the efficacy of the course

No feedback on quizzes or test. Would love to know which questions I got wrong so that I could learn more. At least one of the questions did not match up with the material (percentage of deaths related to faulty equipment, material said 4% deaths and 8% of accidents but answers were 3% or 8% for deaths).

I've been riding dirt bikes since I was 9 years old, at 61 I ride one of the most technologically advanced motorcycles on the planet BMWK1600gtl, I've been pulling toy hauler travel trailers since i was 18, I own a 800 side by side and two 500cc quads lawn tractors, chain saws you name it I have operated it. I knew boating was a whole different ball game I've been a guest on my cousins big boat many times and felt confident I could make my way with my equipment experience without going through the bureaucratic nonsense. I have grandsons now and I need to set a good example, I have twelve pages of notes, any outdoor activity is dangerous but a watercraft is the nuclear equivalent, when things go bad they can go really bad and you cant walk away even if you are able. I am so glad I made the time and took the time to do this on line course its excellent, informative, user friendly and most of all makes you aware of all the Navigational signs, beacons and buoys that our government deploys to keep us all safe, the Lateral and Cardinal systems are an engineering marvel.

Great learning materials but I had already studied the book (not realizing the course and the book were the same) and then had to wait for the timers before being slowed to move through the lessons. Four hours was TOO long, especially because I had learned the material earlier. Customers should be able to skip through lessons and then move on if they get the quizzes correct. If they don’t score 80 on the quiz, then perhaps they should be forced to sit through the timers.

Only feedback I would have is that it would be nice to know the correct answers on the questions answered incorrectly on the quiz’s. Would definitely assist with the learning process.

I think it covers a little about a lot of things. Maybe it should be tailored more to pleasure craft that is 40’ and under. Anything bigger, and really it’s not a pleasure craft but a yacht that someone professionally looks after operating. Perhaps too much into maintenance and how to do things associated with that isn’t part of operating the boat. Just touch on the importance of proper maintenance is noteworthy. This course states over and over the importance of wearing a PFD. I get that most deaths are associated with that, but again this is an operating certificate, perhaps stay within those boundaries. This course has typical mission creep and has drifted in to too much of everything but not enough on what’s really important. Is firing a flare that important? Not really but I had 3 questions regarding it and the module covered 4 types. I think people would figure it out if they get to that point, chances are they wouldn’t because they forgot what was really important and not really covered in this course. It is in the right direction, however, I just looked for the aim of the course, and it is to reduce the number and severity of boating related accidents and fatalities. This is not an operator card aim. Perhaps you need to change the name of this course, I was expecting to learn how to operate a boat, I didn’t. Perhaps this is why I reviewed the course as I did. Personally I think the government is making money here for something that isn’t in their jurisdiction. Yes, educating the masses about boating safety, but holding us ransom with this course as a prerequisite to operating a boat without any other course is disturbing! I think that if you want to meet the aim of boatsmart, then steer people toward taking a proper operating course. This is when accidents and fatalities would decrease. No one flies an airplane, or drives a car without an actual course and practical test. Why isn’t a boat the same way?

More time spent of the rules of driving a boat (buoys, lights, horns, right of way, docking a boat, stopping, etc) and less on putting a boat in the water and attaching a trailer hitch, none of this was applicable to most casual boaters

Everything was great, except the lesson moved too slowly. I can read much faster than the timer.
