They were good a couple of years back when indie was first off and running. They seemed more personally in touch with their writer. Now, the work has been delegated a lot of the work to representatives, makes for lack of follow through. Bottom line it didn't do much, if anything for sales. I can do better myself on Amazon, FB, TikTik, IG ads.

I don't know how to rate the experience. I'm sure BGS did a good job tweeting my book, but the result was disappointing as it didn't at all increase my sales. My feeling is that tweeting is like throwing bottles into the sea, There are too many books and ebooks out there, and billions of tweets bombarding everybody. FB ads seem to work better, for me at least: https://www.facebook.com/TheLegendofLittleEagle/ Best - Florian

Florian, Are you taking advantage of our free monthly emails to our large email list, our free Tweets for blog posts and our free Facebook promotions each month? Some authors are getting a lot of value from these. By working with these free extras, and doing it every month, you will get more value from what you spent with us. We stick to our word on refunds too. If you want one simply email me. We do our best, but some books are more difficult to sell. Laurence BooksGoSocial.com

While the service has done what was promised, I've found the author notification and ability to link to the services provided needs some upgrading. For example, when I submitted my author interview, I didn't receive any notification that it was posted. When I tracked it down on the BGS site, there were no buttons so that I could easily share the interview on Twitter, FB, etc. I did receive an author page review, and appreciated getting additional eyes on the page to critique. (FYI, Amazon is not currently linking Twitter feeds to author pages. They may resume this in the future, but at present, it can't be done.) The monthly inclusion in the BGS by-genre email has reliably generated 1-2 sales each month.

Even though this system was not the best way for me to advertise, they were true to their word and refunded the money I spent for my program. They were polite, and worked with me quite easily to make certain my company did not lose any money simply because our styles did not mesh perfectly. Thank you for your time and easy assistance.

Tiffany, if you don't think you got good value, I must ask you to request a refund. We do not want a single dissatisfied customer. My email address is: lob@yourasms.com. We work 7 days a week, 365 days a year, promoting all our authors. Sometimes the public won't buy. We do work hard to get all the links right and if we did get any wrong I apologize. Your refund will be processed inside 24hrs.

Apparently my book was given adequate exposure in social media, which was the whole point of the deal with Books Go Social. I say 'apparently' because I don't know who reads those twitter messages, or if they reached the appropriate audience and market. To that extent I do not complain, because social media is a crapshoot at its best. There are no guarantees. If sales of the book are a measure of the success of the venture, it was a flop. I didn't sell a single book during the promotion, and no one in my general sphere of association ever remarked that they had seen an ad. Granted, I had to write the copy, which might be blamed for the lack of interest, but input and advice from Books Go Social as to the ad itself might have helped and would have been welcome. I am not unhappy that I entered into the agreement, but even a blind pig eventually, by sheer chance, finds an acorn. Not one single book sold? No interest at all? For a three dollar book? In a vast internet market? With all the crazies that buy anything? I have to conclude that there's something wrong. If someone, anyone, just one, bought the book and then complained that it was a horrible, rotten waste of words, I would at least know that the market works. But I don't even have that measure of success or failure. There was just no interest generated, and I don't know who to blame. Even Eskimos buy ice cubes, once in a while, just for the hell of it. I didn't sell a single book. Maybe I'll try the Eskimo market.

There was absolutely no increase in traffic to the Smashwords site where my book was listed. However, the company offered and quickly provided a full refund! They also offered some insight as to what may help my book get more attention. I may try their services again after applying the fixes they suggested.

Hi, please, ask us for a refund if you are unhappy. Selling from Smashwords is not an easy task. Not all book sell. But we offer refunds, public reviews and long term marketing support, free monthly emails by genre for instance, which you can be included in. If you want your money back email me today and you will get it back in 24hrs: lob@yourasms.com

Though I did gain more exposure through the BooksGoSocial program, and I know that their team did everything possible to direct attention to my books, I did not experience an appreciable increase in sales. My books are professionally edited with a pro cover, garner good reviews and have a small, loyal fan base, but the Books Go Social program unfortunately has not had a tremendous effect of moving the needle on sales. This could be due to the fact that I write a series, and that sometimes puts new readers off--or because I write in the crowded mystery/thriller genre. That said, I think the BooksGoSocial concept is viable and worth considering as part of any author's marketing plan,

I really didn't know what to expect here. There have been a few sales, but not enough to cover the cost of the promotion. Hopefully it is expanding my reader base and will help with future sales,

While they did exactly what was promised in terms of promoting my book, I saw no real uptick in my sales. Price point was too high for my ultimate outcome.

My book is a Science book (physics). Books Go Social does not have much expertise to help promote such a book.

Arkay, I am sorry you were disappointed. We do have long term promotions, which I hope you can take advantage of. The two that may interest you are, your book in an email to our reader list, once a month, if your ebook is under $5 and has 5 reviews on Amazon with an average of 3.5. Plus, extra Tweets for blog posts about your book, if it's written in a readable style. We provide guides to that, which are intended to help you find readers by meeting these requirements. Science related posts will be welcome, but it's up to you to create these and take advantage of the long term opportunity we provide. Please email me if you want to get involved in these. Books Go Social does as advertised. They send a tagline of your book through all of their numerous Twitter feeds. For the better part of a week a myriad of twitter posts within their network advertised my book. This, however, did not translate into sales or anything of the sort. I can attribute zero sales to Books Go Social marketing. My money would have probably be better spent buying a copy of my own book and trying to sell it for one dollar more (as that would have been more profitable than using Books Go Social). The Book Go Social advertising blast I paid for went unnoticed in the constant barrage of updates every Twitter user gets on a daily basis. The owner of Books Go Social is affable and seems like he cares, but all warm and fuzzy feelings aside his service did not net any sort of quantifiable exposure or sales.

I don't know that there was any response to the posts. They were the same posts over and over and I think people got turned off by that.

C, We don't get negative comments on Twitter, maybe one a month. At most 5% of our followers are online at any one time, so over a week, most would only see a Tweet once or maybe twice. I think we would expect a lot of people unfollowing us if they were unhappy, but the opposite is happening. I hope you will email me your Amazon book page, so I can see if you need to make any changes there. We get people to your Amazon page, but what they find there has to be appealing.

Think they could have done more - OK at first but v little promotion of my book that I could see after that. I am a bit disappointed.

The Gods who fell from the sky A true story. I consider the decades of the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties to be turbulent yet wonderful years like no other before or since. John Glenn orbited the earth in a space capsule, the US beat the Russians and put the first man on the moon, personal computers were a fantasy of the future and people were limited to talking on the phone only as far as a cord could reach. The Western world was “rocked” by Elvis Presley and Beatlemania. The uniform of the day from the teenager girls to grannies was the wonderful mini skirt, not forgetting those glorious hotpants!!, the contraception pill was born, bringing with it the hippie movement, "free love" and “flower power” with slogans of "make love, not war." I was a young man, discovering all the delights the world had to offer, living in a new and exciting country, standing shoulder to shoulder with my comrades in the Rhodesian bush war, thumbing our noses at the rest of the world. As I reflect on those years it is brought home to me how very fortunate I was to be a part of them. To live where I lived, to love the special people I loved and to discover at a young age, the path down which my dreams and destiny lead. In 1973“The Little Chev”, was designed and developed in Southern Africa. It proved to be unbeatable by the world's fastest cars, so in the annals of motor racing history legends were there for the making. Two men had the privilege of driving and developing these cars turning them and the car into legends world wide: Basil van Rooyen South African champion and the brainchild behind the “Little Chev” he designed and developed the car for GM South Africa supervising the building and setting up of the race and rally cars, as well as the formation of the dealer team. Driving his race car A1 in 72 and 73. Dick Mawson Rhodesian power boat and motor sports champion, acquiring the car he developed and drove his race car A2 from 73—81. Winning over eighty races in the car to add to his already impressive record. The path I chose, with the disabilities I had ,is responsible for who I became. It is a story of love and determination; with an amputated right leg and the left badly damaged, my tenacity and will to win overrode the fear and possibility of crippling myself for life. I opened and fulfilled the contents of every envelope and followed my destiny to its fruition. In Europe and the UK in the Sixties the most sought after work force were South Africans, Rhodesians, Kiwi's and Aussies, all renowned for their hard work and ethical code, it was no exception in the pits of International F1 and Sports car racing. I was lucky enough to work the circuits of Europe and to be involved in the design, development and driving of the world's fastest cars. A determined and unwavering fight as a young man, to fulfil the ambition burning within me to be the best at whatever cost. My Book “ The Gods who fell from the sky” As a child my family and I miraculously survive a plane crash in the wilds of Africa and to the natives who found us we were: “Gods who had fallen from the sky” I lose my leg at eleven which leads me to seek a means by which I can compete on level ground with my fellow man. The love of speed and mobility that only a machine could give me is born. A recreational family motor boat opens that door and leads me to race and become a champion on water. At last I feel on equal terms with my fellow man in a sport that does not require me to run, jump, or kick. I no longer feel inadequate because a leg falls off every time I dive for a ball or attempt to protect a goal. Piloting a F1 hydroplane, I survive a 100 mph accident at Victoria Falls whilst racing for Rhodesia; Badly damaging my left leg and face. To appease Mom I decide on a safer sport - motor racing! What else was one to do with no legs! I excel in the sport and leave for Europe to follow my dream where I find love with Britt, only to lose her in a car crash. I worked the circuits of Europe and was involved in the driving, design and development of the world's fastest sports and saloon cars. I accomplish my dreams in Europe and return to Africa to follow the road down which destiny has led me. I meet my future wife and soul-mate, the beautiful Penny a junior Miss Rhodesia, around whose life my universe revolved. I have ridden a trail bike along the power lines at Kariba where I was chased by a very angry Momma lion after nearly landing on top of her and her cubs. I have looked into the jaws of an 18 foot crocodile on Lake Kariba, whose putrid breath turned my stomach, in a desperate battle to wrench the foot of a friend from those same jaws, whose intention it was to turn him into lunch. I have ridden motorcycles with the Champions of Africa and Europe and excelled with them. I have bungee jumped from the Victoria Falls and Bloukrans River Bridges, reputed to be some of the highest jumps in the world. I was the first amputee to Ice skate, water and snow ski as well as hold an international motor racing licence. I fought alongside my Penny for 36 years, to defeat clinical depression after the loss of three children, victory was ours in the end only to be cheated by her death. I have made many friends over the years, including World Champions who will bear witness to my achievements. In the Seventies I was seconded to the Special Forces as a Sargent in the Rhodesian Army, and have been awarded medals for meritorious conduct in covert ops inside Rhodesia and across her boarder. I acquired, raced and developed the fastest saloon car in the world and in twenty five years of racing won over 300 trophies. This story celebrates the mountains I've conquered and acceptance of the painful valleys I have crawled my way out of. Its a tribute to my love of speed and a special tribute to three phenomenal women who shared and blessed my life. My Mother once commented! “My son you are a champion and racing is in your blood. You have tasted death twice in your fifteen years and by God’s grace you remained with us. Your life is in his hands not mine so who am I to deny you the pleasure you derive from your racing and to interfere with the destiny God has ordained for you.” These words were very deep and at that age perhaps a little over my head once again, but in all my years I have never forgotten them. A life lived to the full . mawson44@hotmail.com

I'm not sure what I was expecting but my overall impression was one of disappointment. I suppose that I had looked to have more exposure through bookshops, rather than the series of Twitter feeds that went out. I have no idea whether they were to the right target recipients, or just to a standard mailing list, which wouldn't have been very productive. On the other hand, the cost of the venture was low, so perhaps that's all I could have expected for the money.
