“Ebay used to be a great buyer and seller platform, its now greedy, has no personal service, is riddled with fraudulent listing, doesn't follow its own policy, is riddled with technical problems... Its terrible”

“EBAY AND FRAUDULENT THEIVES - Save yourself some stress and sell online elsewhere Ebay are thieves and fraudulent. I was clearing out some items, and decided to sell on Ebay. All was going well but then Ebay put a hold on my account pending verifying identity. Fine I thought, I hadn't sold hardly anything for years then I list 40+ items. So, I send my driving license and bank statement with both name and address clearly confirmed. Ebay then suspend account, provide no reason or offer to speak. But confirm they will send funds in a couple of months, ok all very strange and unprofessional but ok I'd sold most of the stuff I didn't want anyway, so just agree never to use Ebay again as their so weird and clandestine. However, when I chase this they say they will keep the funds. They mention regulations but refuse to explain what regulations allow them to provide service to sell items online and keep the money themselves. They refuse any attempt to discuss or explain what the issue is, they go completely dark and are unwilling to address their unfounded concerns. Its August 2022, of the unwanted items sold, it raised £580 which Ebay state they are keeping and I can do absolutely nothing at all about it! Just speechless. Who would have thought this was the behaviour of a big listed company. Sell elsewhere.”

“EBAY IS A REAL SCAM COMPANY AS SOON AS YOU SELL SOMETHING ON THEIR WEBSITE THEY PUT YIUR MONEY ON HOLD AND RESTRICT HOUR ACCOUNT AND THEN THEY ASK FOR ALL TYPES OF PRIVATE INFORMATION TO UNRESTRICT YOUR ACCOUNT AND THEN THEY STILL HOLD YOUR MONEY SOME MORE WAY AFTER THE BUYER HAS RECEIVED THE ITEMS THEY HAVE BOUGHT. AND YOU CANT DO NOTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL EBAY UNRESTRICTS YOUR ACCOUNT SO BASICALLY THEY CAN HOLD YOUR MONEY HOSTAGE WAY AFTER THE BUYER HAS RECEIVED THE ITEMS AND WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT IS EBAY TAKES OUT A SELLING FEE FIRST RIGHT AFTER YOU SELL SOMETHING. EBAY DOESNT RESTRICT THEIR MONEY. SO I WOULD ADVISE TO SELL ON ANOTHER PLATFORM THAT RELEASES UOUR MONEY AS SOON AS THE BUYER RATES THE TRANSACTION”

“Buyer biased marketplace. Full of aggressive scammers. Ebay will hold ur funds constantly and will run your business and ur mental health into the ground. Seller support is 0. U have to fight for ur funds on a weekly basis even if ur a top rated seller with a 0 defect rate. After 20 years i quit. Ebay are criminal”

“Ebay is a great place for a buyer, even a better place for a buyer to take advantage of a seller and even get help from ebay doing it! Sold an item, the buyer reached out to ebay and claimed it was damaged in shipping. NOT TO ME, so ebay refunded all of the money before the item was even returned. So I lost the item and lost my money! WHAT A GREAT DEAL FOR A BUYER! EBAY DOES NOT SUPPORT A SELLER! THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME ebay sided and even helped the buyer rip me off. SELLER BEWARE!!”

“EBAY ARE NEARLY DONE FOR GOOD ,THE COMPANY IS RAN BY FOREIGN REPRESENTATIVES,AND WHEN YOU HAVE AN ISSUE DUE TO BEING EXSTAUTED OR CUSTOMERS THAT SHOULD NOT BE ON THE EBAY PLATFORM ,YOU WILL BE DOOMED . EBAY IS FOR FRAUDSTERS & EBAY ITS SELF IS A FULL SCALE FRAUD FOR LETTING THIS HAPPEN NOT A SAFE PLACE EBAY,SHOULD BE CALLED FRAUD”

“Do not even bother placing an order as a guest on ebay! In the event that you have a problem with an order, you cannot go to "contact seller" without the page refreshing and loading another page which insists that you start an ebay account! I had a bait and switch product sent to me, one which was NOT what I ordered but completely different. The ebay "help" page is just a bot and you can never get a hold of a live human being.”

“I purchased an item and paid, I got a fake tracking number showing that the item was delivered. But i never received the item After i trace the tracking number with the post office, It showed that the item has gone to a different country and with a different name and address . I can not find anyone from eBay to talk to , after 20 years of business with eBay, I never do business with them , SHAME ON EBAY”

“eBay continues to support fraudulent foreign entity sellers. I ordered from 2 Vietnamese sellers and did not get either order. eBay said I did. There was NO DELIVERY. And yet they sided with the corrupt foreign seller who scammed me by never shipping the orders. BUY AMERICAN AND STAY AWAY FROM EBAY”

“For some reason my account has been suspended and Ebay refuses to tell me why. I have only purchased a few items from this site. I wonder how many other accounts have been suspended for no reason. This company definitely does not value their customers. Do not waste your time with Ebay.”

“I used ebay for 10 years. this year the suspendmy account without providing me any reason. they refused to provide any explanation and simply banned me. there is no way to speak with operator as they dont have them. very dissampoinet. suggest to move out from this stupid platform”

“Ebay blocked my account for no reason, when I rang them they told me my account is restricted, I asked why to which they said that Ebay policy means they do not have to say why. They then wanted copies of my driving licence, bank statements, receipts for various recent purchases, my national insurance number and bank details. You'd be right to think scam but this was through all genuine calls and emails from Ebay. I have read various articles similar to my issue and believe possibly Ebay are sharing private information with other companies, I refused to give it to them, we are all covered by data protection. I have spent thousands over 18 years with 100% feedback which is now useless as they will not unblock the restriction. Who does Ebay think they are? I will use Amazon from now on.”

“Had 3 items effectively blatantly stolen from me via eBay (payments reversed after items sent, misuse of returns, false claims on low value items that aren’t worth returning due to postage costs). EBay difficult to contact and deal with. Keep setting issues to ‘resolved’ forcing you back to step 1 of their painful processes. Sometimes don’t respond at all until you start another case to ask why they haven’t responded to a previous one. Never any help whatsoever on any of these problems despite obvious buyer problems. Buyers still have 100% positive feedback because sellers can’t give them feedback. Would not trust eBay for anything really.”

“I've been an Ebay seller for over 20 years, and today I closed my account. The reason? Horrible communication - a buyer recently requested a refund on an iPhone 12 Pro Max I sold them, Ebay made it a strong suggestion that I refund the buyers money. Which I did. They even forced me to buy a return shipping label, as part of the return process. But the buyer never returned the iPhone, and when I contacted Ebay, I was told that I had to work that out with the Buyer myself. Ebay took the money out of my account, sent the buyer a pre-paid, by me, return shipping label, but they weren't interested in helping when said buyer didn't hold up their end of the agreement. That's not a place to be a seller. I recommend any of the many other platforms you could use - where you won't be charged huge fees to be ignored.”

Dishonest, zero ethics or morals is the order of the day, and their mindless minions (CSR) are all on board. Do yourself a huge favor and entrust them with NOTHING you aren't comfortable losing. The single abiding interest this company has is in creating wealth for itself and its shareholders, not YOU.”
