I have two problems with EDF. The company has been persecuting customers for about three years to install smart meters even though it knows that many are faulty. Also the company treats British customers differently to their own French customers. Specifically last year they cancelled British customers accounts including historic bills detailing usage (with no formal notice) and created new account numbers AND insisted on monthly payments even for customers who paid quarterly. They are an inflexible unsympathetic organisation who seem happy to exploit British customers.d

Worst service that you can get from any energy provider in the UK. This energy supplier and their customer support team is the worst that I have ever come across with. I decided to move on with another supplier as I was extremely dissatisfied with their service. I was a pay as you go customer and when I closed my contract they gave me a huge bill to settle, which doesn’t make any sense for a pay as you go account. Never recommend this supplier to anyone.

Our previous supplier fitted a day/ night meter instead of the single tariff we had asked for.A week later they stopped trading and we were assigned to EDF.before lockdown.I phoned and explained our predicament,and asked to be put on a single rate tariff.I was assured this could be done.However our billing over all this time has showed day / night readings with2 different prices.I have phoned on numerous occasions but have been told we were on the cheapest tariff available for us.This week I phoned Octopus,explained our ongoing problem,and they gave me a quote of £76 per month,as opposed to £130 we have been giving EDF.Our heating and hot water come from our wood burning stove,so it’s only lights,freezer,kettle TV and toaster that rely on electricity.I think part of the problem is that many of the call handlers have English as a second language.They can deal with straight forward situations,but are not great at grasping more complicated issues. In the email EDF sent to acknowledge our changing suppliers they offered us a tariff £690 less than we had been on,but we would have to pay the £150 exit fee to change.Maybe that’s the tariff we should have been on originally……

Incompetent, unprofessional, bullying low-lifes. I would give minus 5 stars if I could. I did not join this energy company but was assigned to it by the government when my provider went bust and have had nothing but hassle and incompetent and unproffesional dealings with this company. AVOID at all costs.

I’ve have taken over a premises that was supplied by EDF and which was on a very high rate . They are making it very difficult for me even as a non customer to move energy companies . This has already taken several weeks and costing me a fortune. Apparently they’re is no one to talk to over the phone about this and can only correspond via email

Nothing is easy. Communication is a pain. First, engineers read the meter wrong, and it took so much effort to get the bill fixed so I wasn't overcharged by £500. Smart meter not working and they say it's being investigated, but nothing ever happens. Now there's massive over-estimation of readings with another bill £300 too high, had to send meter readings 4 times to get it fixed (and I still haven't got the new bill, so here's hoping). Who knew one company could cause so much stress.

Very poor customer service and massively over estimation of annual gas usage. EDF estimated usage to be 18,227 kWh when actual and historic usage between is 6,000 and 7,000 kWh. EDF gave me a £217 over payment credit in Nov 2023 and recently advised that they needed to increase my standing order from £134 to over £190 to clear my outstanding debt of just over £100. I used their online smart meter readings to try and demonstrate that estimate was grossly inflated but the only reply I got was that we have conducted a thorough review of you account and my payments were insufficient!!!

This has got to be the worst ever company I have ever dealt with bar none. Faulty PAYG meter that they assured me 12 months ago was not. Another 12 months and it has taken even more additional money that has actually not been used on gas and now owes be over £1600. Trying to get a refund is near impossible and now the meter won’t even top up and I am going to have a cold weekend with no hot water either. Thank you EDF. You are diabolical. Full of excuses and no help. How the hell are you still in business???

Proof that the world is going bonkers. This week EDF informed me that I'd won a "top fan badge" for the number of my communications with the company. Trouble is they'd failed to notice that all these communications were angry emails from me about my recently installed smart meter which isn't sending readings and the fact that after they installed it they knocked out my two storage heaters. I'm still emailing them and getting vague promises from different people who keep asking me the same questions. Do EDF have a deliberate policy of trying to wind their customers up?

They are a con we are in 1000 credit and they offer us 500 pounds back but if took it they would put our bill up to 250 pounds a month

Totally useless. They have introduced a new accounting system, and are invoicing me for monies I have already paid under the old system. You ring up to explain, but know nothing will be done. Avoid these people.

Absolutely awful customer service, can never get through to anyone. do not trust the trustpilot reviews, they must all be fake. I have been trying to get through to someone for a very long time, with no one answering. Stay away and use other energy suppliers.

Vile call center, no longer UK based & spoken to like scum from a chauvinistic Indian male. I'm NOT racist but different countries have different cultures & women are most certainly not treated like equals. Terrible experience.

Absolutely disgusting the way I was spoken to. Not sure if it's his really name but when I have asked a question about them charging my account, I got a really snotty customer service guy called Vinn. We will be leaving the company as something doesn't add up. They have had to give us money back at the end of the year the last couple of years and now it seems they're just taking money out of my credit to try and verify not giving money back! They're a robbing company do not go with them, customer service is rude.

Absolutely the worse energy supplier. I have been treated in an awful way, by manipulating staff. Bills are way too expensive. It's been a very stressful time. Do not go to EDF

Edf seems to be ripping me off.. I have to change from their service as soon as possible.. How on earth will my meter readings be different from the bills ? And you claim it’s still the same.. I wont definitely pay this exorbitant price .. Edf sucks!!!
