Went into a 2 year business contract with EDF Aug 2022, to get this contract I had to have a smart meter installed which we did in November 2022. EDF have taken DD from our account each month and when we finally after many months got our first bill it was back to deemed rates from the date our smart meter was installed. I called and they stated they would change this back as they know this was a issue as their system removed the contracted rates when the new smart meter details were added. This seems fine until we received a £4k bill for the whole period from Aug 2022 to March 2024 that we had been with them and this was the balance due but we had already paid them nearly £3,000 iun DDs over this period so our bill was actually £7,000 + which was impossible. When I looked in detail at the bill it was a huge over estimate. I called Customer services which is all in South Africa now and you can't speak to anyone in England. I gave them our real meter reading and they rebilled. When that bill came in a few days later they had out us back to the deemed rates and not the contracted price I had signed for from Nov 22. I called them again and was informed to call sales and they would change this. Since this time and 9 + calls to Customer services our bill is still not right and I have emailed and got Zero response from EDF, 11 days ago I emailed them and still nothing back. Then they have the audacity to write to me about them upgrading their systems and then state “so you can continue to get outrageously good customer experience you deserve” so I deserve zero customer service do I ? as this is what I have received so far. DO NOT go with EDF, they don't listen and they don't do anything about the issues you have and they just don't get back to you. I even asked on my 8th call to Customer services which is as much use as a chocolate fireguard if they had received my email which clearly had my account number in the subject title - they couldn't see anything. So the "shiny new systems" they are getting just send your issues and complaints into a black hole never to be seen again. Disgusting service from a company that I thought would be much better, cant wait to move away.

Absoulute nightmare been on the phone since 8 am this morning it's now 4 20 pm and the matter is still not resolved I have put money on my smart meter and ot has not gone on and still not so have to go through it all again tomorrow

EDF use a 3rd company called Bionic who will fraudulently sign you into a contract with EDF without you knowledge or agreement. Then customer service ignore your complaints. Terrible service. David.

I am totally dissatisfied and disappointed with this company of yours . Your customer service communication is extremely poor. I have been having issues with you for over 8months now . You are most expensive energy company that I know . I have done my research on this . You just increase your tariff and standard charge as you want. No one is regulating your decision I regret I did not get this information early and unfortunately was stock with you for 5years. Thanks that I am free from you now that I have left you . The upcoming customer pls shine your eye . They will lured you with there sweet message. They are cunning and not opened

Very bad customer service over the phone also i got a high bill while i was away for a month and still waiting to adjust my bill but seems they didnt bother about it.problem with smart meter should be your responsibility

11/04/2024 Thursday book a appointment for engineer come to fix the issues,Tuesday engineer come and can’t fix the issues and go away,why the engineer don’t direct call to the office to tell another engineer come out to fix the issues same day. So I have to call back to the office book another appointment , and the appointment management system is so bad, you have to wait for few days to get another appointment.

When I switched to EDF, their Smart meter app would not work with my smart meter twice said they’d replace the metre, twice they pulled out for done made up reason ir other. Now stick with them until my fixed price contract expires. I can’t see how much gas I’m using on the app, and I don’t trust their billing.

They are training the staff to drop calls where they may lose money. They gave a fake meter reading to my old supplier and refuse to rectify it, cost me over £10,000, for 23 days electric. I've spent nearly 6 hours today trying to speak to them.

I have been left five days without gas .I had a smart meter put in and didn't like it I've now had the old meter put in but hasn't gone over to ols meter so can't top up .they asked me to go down to a shop half hour away from me to get card witch would have 50 pounds on it and I'm disabled witch I can't walk far and when I fot home no money on card . Called them bck said they was sending me a card out in post with 50 pounds on it still waiting that was Friday it is now Monday I have a newborn child aswell no customer care I've spoken to over 200 different agents no managers are getting thank leanne cox 29 ling rd e164ap

EDF are atrocious Company who supply only the minimal amount of Customer service ... on a good day!! As a single male with limited energy needs, they have been plucking figures out of thin air for months and since December 2023 have deducted over£1400 from my bank account over and above the energy price cap. They ignore e-mails and in the past said they had no record of me as a Customer at all! They certainly have a record of all of my personal bank details to extort excessive payments from myself every month. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I think I had to give one star to enable to write a review .. they do not deserve one at all

I have been with EDF for a number of years now I got through to a delightful female EDF Telephone employee She was amazing at a time in my life when I feel very vulnerable (loss of husband of 42 years in January) This lovely person helped me change my tarrif without charge to a much more affordable one when I had been locked in to a less affordable one before the government dropped the prices She was patient and very empathetic so thank you EDF for providing a fantastic service Grateful on every level

I've had a smart meter for five months. It hasn't worked. There have been two visits by the installation team. one to replace the first meter. Then they knocked out my storage heaters. They keep promising to get it sorted but never do. My bills are enormous because they're all estimates - and wild estimates for someone like me living in a one-bedroom flat. Next step, the energy ombudsman.

I’m 56 I inherited EDF energy at my new flat for 6 months they only billed me me for gas(2020) it was always paid or little to pay they quickly during pandemic put me on pay as you go for no reason . During a local blackout I discovered they supplied my electricity aswell same year but they didn’t know it ,I’ve not used there gas since August 2022 but cus I’m on the books of these thieves I have to pay a standing charge £520 my last electric bill £1600 cus there incompetence wouldn’t let me pay the bill on auto EDF for 4 months keep away from these French cowboys . I’ve never written a review in my life before but the endless pestering and threats from this company and there thugs (past due) I’m just glad I can afford it and will be leaving these bandits asap

I've always paid my bill on time without issues. They told me they were struggling to connect to my smart meter and have had issues non stop since. I have continued to pay my usual amount as I was ensured my bill would be revised and amended so thought better to pay what I usually do than not. They've since removed all my bills from the last 4 months on my account and given me a new one stating I've used over £700 in just electric for this period. Stating this is the accurate usage charges. I still have emails stating my previous bills were ready followed by emails that they were paid. The customer service agents have been rude and extremely unhelpful, I told them I would approach the ombudsman and they had no care what so ever. They even told me maybe I should seek professional help if I am that stressed about the bill. They are an awful company and you should completely avoid them at all costs. Prices are going down and they're trying to rob us blind to keep their profits up.

Absolute liars who have kept my £197 owed to me since February 2024. Customer services lie, managers don’t return calls, if anyone owed them would they be waiting nearly 2 months I don’t think so. Was promised cheque by 2 April got nothing. Called them allegedly they sent to my old address. Got mail from old address nothing. Called again. Today to be told no cheque has ever been raised. What is going on? Send my money now!!!

They're bullies, they are paid by the government to push me into having a smart meter but it'll cost money me to remove a large double floor to ceiling cupboard and get it put back to original condition if I have one. I don't want a smart meter so they want to up my tariff even though I pay them each month on time but have stopped my direct debit as when I was in £500+ credit they didn't want to give me my money back. Now they've decided to issue me with a new bill apart from the April one I have only just had but they have added £149.84 to my bill for reasons best known to themselves. The reading is the same as the previous bill. I read my meter daily and have spreadsheets going back years as I do not trust these electrical suppliers. EDF are incompetent bullies but no different to any of the other suppliers I have used. I wish there was a decent company among them.

Hands down the worst company I've ever had to deal with. What should have been a routine "smart" meter installation has turned into a month long headache. The paypoint machines seem to close at Four. Their top up phone-line offices close at SIX and the EDF app and website won't let me top up. Despite topping up my electric at five, it's now been two hours and the money has yet to leave my bank account. I am left without electric or gas. And they tried to stiff me for a gas bill that was ELEVEN TIMES what it should have been. And most of not all of their customer services have been outsourced to other countries who have no idea what they're doing. If I could rate this company lower I would.

Very bad customer service been on the phone for over a hour my direct debit went up from £172 to £281 was never informed this was happening they said it was in a email Cound never login. To the app. So I could've read my emails so went to another company a lot cheaper they saying I owe them a £200 exit free we kept going round in circles DON'T TOUCH THIS COMPANY WORST COMPANY I'VE EVER USED AVOID AT ALL COST I SAID I WAS GOING TO THE ENGERY OMBERSMAN THEY SAID DO IT THEY ARE NOT BOTHERED ME & MY WIFE ARE ON A SMALL PENSION LEFT US SHORT OF MONEY HAD TO GET HAND OUTS OF OUR FAMILY WORST THING THE TORYS DID WAS PRIVETISE THE ENGERY COMPANYS

A terrible company to deal with with appalling customer service. An extremely low-energy experience. Moved to Octopus after a recommendation and it's been the complete opposite of my experience with EDF.
