Very poor after sales service. I would definitely not recommend Elan Homes. Have now started court proceedings due to lack of follow up to rectify issues.

Elan Homes have been a great disappointment. Inexperienced contractors have made so many mistakes it’s hard to believe. Wall and ceiling insulation missing from one bedroom and bathroom, it took months to fix. Still waiting for replacement doors and porch. I would not recommend.

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Installed windows which have ALL broken upstairs (ALL!). can't be opened, drafty, noise pollution coming in - NOT environmentally friendly as we pay to heat the outside world. Elan refusing to put right - house was build under 10 years ago. They say after 2 years it's 'not their problem' No ongoing aftercare of items covered by the NHBC. Leaking bathrooms badly installed having to now be taken out due to dangerous black mould build up also. They put tiles directly onto standard plasterboard in showers! Bathrooms crumbling apart. They also forgot to insulate all the bedrooms over garages in the entire estate!!! (which they had to come back and correct all homes - but those said bedrooms are still freezing in winter) Terrible customer experience. Issues happen, but the ongoing commitment to resolve once the money has been paid is not present. A very bad customer experience for correction of substandard build or materials post sale.

From start to finish sales team at Greenside View Dukinfield went out of their way and beyond. They helped provide all information required, explained the design of each property, how the site was set out, local amenities, and the individual benefits of each property making it easy for us to decide on which property was best suited to ourselves.

We paid a £1000 non refundable deposit to reserve a plot with elan and were quoted the completion date would be around October time at the sales pitch stage. We were then told December to January for the long stop date and managed to arrange with the buyers of our current property to vacate by the end of the quoted month, January. Within a couple of weeks of paying the £1000 NON REFUNDABLE deposit we received a letter informing us that the completion date would be February and the long-stop date would now be March. The deposit we paid was non refundable even though it took Elan only two weeks of receiving our deposit before moving the goal posts due to ‘material shortages’. The move had we not of pulled out would have left my family without a roof over our heads with the unfortunate dynamic of not knowing when the new property would be completed. The cost of short term rent came in at between £1750-£3000 a month, over a few months it doesn’t take an accountant to see the financial cost implications. Once we pulled out it was amazing how Elan went from being an answer machine message to the most customer focused company I’ve dealt with. They offered us a lot of incentives but nothing close to the storage and rental costs we would incur. They were also quite aggressive with their sales telling us that we had to complete by certain dates or the deposit would be lost and the property put back to market. The only thing they were not quick to do is refund the £1000 deposit once they had gone back on dates they had promised. If you want my advice I would not part with your hard earned cash to Elan and would do your homework before buying off plan with them as your dream home could quite quickly turn into an expensive nightmare.

Awful. On other well known review sites, they remove any negative reviews! Poor quality built homes.

I feel I am qualified to write a review. Years being into an Elan Home owner, there are several snags that Elan washed their hands of and refused to put right (reported within the 2 year snagging window). We were also let down with the moving date which was pushed back several times. We have had emergency situations where the '24 hour phone line' has never been answered or even gone to voice mail. Knowing a qualified surveyor, who said the house is poor quality throughout, and by no means cheap at more than half a million pounds. The houses may look pretty to a prospective buyer but it is quite different once reality kicks in.

I was invited to leave a review. Below the surface these are poorly built homes, both exteriorly and interiorly. Any problems take months to get fixed and emails are not answered. We have had almost fatal problems. The 24 hour emergency helpline was not answered, when there was a genuine emergency, neither did it go to answerphone. We were not prepared for the amount of issues had once we had competed. The gardens are of poor quality and lots of rubble underneath. Poor quality paving slabs and not enough patio space given, the bare minimum. The landscaping and shrubs provided poor and no uniformity. This is a substantial detached home. I just wish more care and attention was put into the building process.

Poor developments. I agree with all the previous reviews. Poor building work throughout. A company that doesn't care. Overpriced houses, below standard developments. Lots of snags, some impossible to see until something goes wrong. Rubbish boilers that don't last more than a couple of years. Ovens, extraction fans and fridge freezers that have issues. Can hear the wind coming through windows and doors. Minimal patio flagging and paving area. Poor quality lawns. A house costing several hundred thousands pounds should have very few issues.

When you see reviews on this company, the positive ones are from suppliers and other companies who work with them. Being an owner of an Elan home is quite different. Firstly, I would strongly recommend getting an independent surveyor as soon as you get the house (Elan do not allow access until completion). This will elicit probably over one hundred snags, some serious and others important but a non-surveyor person would never realise or know about. You would think that a small development of homes costing upwards of half a million pounds may have extra care and attention during the building process, but you would be mistaken. All homes have had issues, some very serious, and one a danger to life because of shoddy building work. (And did Elan Homes answer their '24 hour emergency phone line'? - no - it went unanswered for days and no option to leave a message). Anyone who has a budget of around £600k+ in many areas may be able to use that money go to a niche/independent developer who takes more care instead. It has taken years to get some of the snags fixed. (And they simply wash their hands of many others, you have no chance of getting them fixed by Elan, so be prepared to fix issues at your own time and expense). The gardens flood too, probably due to all the debris they bury under it. The make of the kitchen appliances included as standard are more 'style and no substance' - expect to have problems within and after the 2 year guarantee. Finally, it's likely to be on a fleecehold development. Pay full council tax but also having to pay a management company for maintenance of communal areas.

Bought a house in culcheth Warrington. Extremely poor customer care service. We have been chasing our very long snag list for 8 months now . Losing heating and hot water constantly, broken window making the room uninhabitable in winter , broken door hinges , broken tiles, it took them 6 months to fix a leaking toilet. Very poor external brick work, poor insulation. Very poor craftmanship all over and the worst of all is the customer service they are dismissive and disorganized.
