“Less than 5 months ago I purchased a BR800 Blower. The Blower has never worked properly right from the first time that I went to use it. It would run for approximately 15 minutes and then shut down. When contacting Stihl about the issue it took them 8 days to respond to my inquiry, and then told me that I would have to have it repaired when in fact what I wanted was a replacement (new). I was told that they would repair it. I took it to an authorized Stihl dealer and they told me it would take 7 - 10 days to repair it. Eventually they notified me that they had repaired it, and the first time I went to use it it ran for 15 minutes and then stopped working, after which it would no longer start. I once again e-mailed Stihl, that was 5 days ago, and they still have not responded. I took it upon myself to take it back the the authorized Stihl dealership that first tried to fix it, and they indicated that they would now have to replace the carburetor which again would take 7 - 10 days. Essentially I thought I had purchased a quality product, that is paying a premium price, but Stihl is no longer the product or company (service) that they used to be. This is the second terrible experience (the first being with having a brand new power washer serviced) that I have had with Stihl products in the past 18 months. I would encourage people to stay away from purchasing any Stihl products.”
“I bought a MS261 saw 3 years ago after my MS026 finally died. I bought the 026 in 1999 and it lasted 20 years. I also bought the MS036 at the same time and it lasted 21 years...I thought these were great products so replaced both with the latest versions...MS261 and the MS362. Well the 261 died after 3 years and only bucked about 20 cords of wood. I am very upset that a $1000 dollar saw only lasted 3 years. I had the extended warranty for 2 years as i use the Stihl oil and always used 91 octane fuel. Is this normal that this saw would die after 3 years....have you started using chinese parts on the piston, rings, cylinders? ps the rings were melted into the piston......Very dissapointed in Stihl products now....”
“Will never get a stihl again, mine broke took it to a stihl dealer to get fixed and its gonna take 2 months or over to get part in. Will go with a other brand next time.”
“I bought the FSA 57 whipper and the BGA 60 blower this summer and they are both terrible products. I wasted a lot of money based on the dealerships recommendation. The FSA 57 feed of whipper string is a joke! Ridiculous! Who came up with that idea? The BGA 60 battery lasts for 10 to 15 minutes tops and then is reduced to half power which cuts it's blowing force to less than half power. How disappointing when I hoped to switch to electric tools! I really feel like I've been ripped off! Terrible products from my previously favorite brand!”
“After reading your reviews I am nervous to invest in your line of battery operated tools…sad to see so many unhappy customers. My heart belonged to Stihl products in the past and now that I would like to move on to battery operated tools I am left with doubts and concerns about the manufacturing and quality !”
“Ordered the woodsman case and added the gnome to meet the free shipping minimum. I only received the gnome and I feel that I have been trolled.
I sent 2 emails, the first being more than a week ago. Im disapointed with stihl direct canada customer service and shipments managements. I wouldn’t recommend stihl direct canada to a friend.”
“I am very happy with the product, I have 3 chainsaws a leaf blower and a string trimmer. I am very disappointed that I have paid $180 for 2 new carburetors and have been waiting for over 1 month. The dealer tells me that Stihl has a new ordering system and there is no way of knowing when the carbs will arrive.”
“Purchased as a Christmas gift for my daughter and son-in-law, who are avid gardeners, they have now finally used their trimmer and are very happy with it.”
“I bought a new MS 250 chainsaw a few weeks ago. It run for few hours one tank of gas. Then I tried to start it a few days ago would not start. Tried this a few times with no luck. Its not even broken in yet. Took it in to the dealer they got it running. Told me it floods easily had many complaints about this. Was not told by the dealer when I bought it is made in China. What junk, if I new that it was made there would never have bought it. I will never by a Stihl chainsaw again. Buyers beware!”
“I would be very cautious buying a STIHL saw. I used STIHL oil, mixed at their recommended ration and have 6 month old $700 blown saw with very limited use that they will not warranty!! I was using two other pieces of two stroke equipment at the same time with same gas etc and no issues. I have had great luck in the past with STIHL products. But it’s the first time dealing with warranty and it is very disappointing. I emailed and spoke with a customer service rep and I am being told to contact the dealer. The dealer says contact Stihl. Stihl again says Contact the dealer. Good luck with any purchases and enjoy well they are running!!”
“So bought a ms271 in 2019, and from and one it had running issues, after 2 carburetor changes still the product is unreliable and a waste of money. I bought stihl because they were a good name and like most products today they turn out to be a great disappointment. I have moved on from stihl and have reliable saw now that have better warranties and craftmanship. Sorry Stihl, I tried but you products are not up to the quality they used to be.”
