Appalling. I had a non-working boiler, contacted ERG for rapid service. Agreed next day visit. Next day they rang to say they couldn't make it, rearranged for the next day. Next day, same thing happened. Eventually this "fast response" company arrived on the fourth day after calling them. It then got worse. The engineer noted (correctly) that the batteries in the thermostat needed replacing and after replacing them concluded that the remote thermostat was not communicating with the boiler, and advised me to get a new receiver. He disconnected the wiring loom to the internal boiler clock and seemed very unclear about what he was doing. At one point I had to download a YouTube video to show him how to reset the receiver. For this I was charged £150. I got a new receiver, fitted that plus the new batteries, and still the boiler didn't work (it was working for hot water and firing up on demand, so the issue was clearly the thermostat/timer controls). I tried to get ERG to attend again because they hadn't fixed the issue, their customer service agreed two possible dates and their engineer would contact me to agree times. Not a peep - no communications at all. I then got a local firm to come out and their engineer arrived next day and took only 15 minutes to identify that the fault was that the internal timer on the boiler had been turned off. He turned it back on to continuous operation and the boiler roared into life. Problem solved. I then complained to ERG for their tardiness, their lack of competence, and that I had paid out for a new receiver (not needed) and another engineer. They rejected my complaint, their engineer said that he had not advised me regarding the receiver (it was actually noted on the invoice) and that he had made two visits (he had only made one). I am now taking them to court.

Another person stung by these chancers. Cancelled my credit card when I realised I had been taken for a fool but they beat me to it and took the funds. I have contacted my credit card company and disputed the payment. It's worth a try ...

I recently had central heating problems and googled central heating repairs near me and this company was the first search result. Having been fortunate enough to not be swindled by a company in the past, I foolishly trusted the company's website when reading the 'rave reviews' they had listed. If only I had done a simple internet search of the actual reviews of this company. In similar fashion to many of the reviews listed here, I rang ERG to ask if they could fix my central heating and arranged for an engineer to come out to fix the issue, quoting me £150 per hour of WORK plus any materials needed, asking me to provide card details up front (in hindsight this should probably have rang an internal alarm bell; you only need to implement credit control measures such as this if you intend on duping your customers). When the engineer came out he had been here no more than 10 minutes before leaving, telling me he knew what the issue was but didn't know how to fix it himself. I was then rang by ERG saying they were going to charge me £150 for an hours work and would need to send out a second engineer if I wanted the issue to be fixed at a cost of a further £150 per hour plus materials. I was left no closer to central heating and £150 poorer. I'm not too proud to admit that we aren't the most affluent family so £150 is a big hit on our monthly spending. It is an utter disgrace that this company can claim to provide a 'professional service' to their customers when their engineers aren't able to perform basic aspects of their job, and rather than preserve their reputation (although judging by the reviews on google there probably isn't much of a reputation to preserve) their primary policy is to charge excessive additional fees to solve the problem. We rang the company on the night of the incident to raise an issue with the service we had received, however, the operator who answered was rather blunt and unwilling to help us. After persisting that we were not happy with the treatment, the operator agreed to investigate the matter and speak to the engineer and then get back to us. We received no return phone call and were charged two days later. I'm aware that the company are probably covered legally, but you have to question the morality of a company who prey on the naivety of people like myself during the worst recession of this generation. I have definitely learnt a life lesson this week. My only hope is that future potential customers read this review and instead opt to give their money to a company or independent trader who possesses some integrity and will ensure that their customers receive exemplary work. After suffering through this ordeal with ERG, I rang a local trader who managed to fix the issue the day after. He was appalled by the treatment I had received and noted that he would warn future clients not to deal with ERG. Hopefully ERG's notoriety will only grow in the future, forcing the company to either overhaul its current policies and operations in favour of making an honest living or enter into liquidation. Although as long as it's shareholders are withdrawing sizeable dividends, I shan't be holding my breath.

I have requested the engineer for installing a nest thermostat from Erg gas and heating. The visited engineer never installed a nest thermostat and he asks me boiler manual. He didn't do anything went away after wasting my 30min. The company charges me £150. (£125 +VAT) They only allow to reach them through webchat. This is a new way of scamming people.

Called ERG Plumbing on a Friday told them my toilet needed fixing with a new coupling bracket and inlet valve, engineer turned up before 6pm as promised, without ANY of the parts, capped off the toilet, (turned the screw on the isolation valve) said he would be back on Sunday with the parts. By the following Friday, after several no shows by the 'engineer' and several days off work I cancelled the job as I was going on holiday for 2 weeks. Still trying to charge me £125 - £150 (depends which agent you get on the phone) Basically, avoid this company, it's a scam. They insist on debit card details to book an appointment, then charge a call out fee with no intention of doing any follow through work. ERG is a money grabbing call centre, that GOOGLE should be ashamed to be promoting

Please do not use this company and do not provide them with your bank details!!! Absolutely fraudsters!!! Engineers have no idea as to what they are doing, if you can call them engineers. Take your bank details to book an appointment and then charge you 150 pounds for doing absolutely nothing. Quoted over 700 pounds for the work got it all completed less than 200 pounds. FRAUDSTERS picking on vulnerable individuals!!!

Came to look at dripping taps. Took 2 hours to tell me I needed new taps and will provide a quite. Cost £300 just to give me this information and not fixed. Gave me a quote of £690 to carry out work which I rejected. Managed to get my usual plumber 2 days later who mended one pair of taps in 15 minutes and fixed new taps. His charge for checking taps repairing one and replacing other was £300 compared to erg's total price of £990. In addition one pair of taps didn't need replacing, total rip off, will never use again.

One star rating is still too much for this appalling company - I only chose them at random out of a list of companys because I needed someone quickly. In truth the whole company hasnt got a clue - except how to con money out of anyone who rings their number. Run a mile if you know whats good for you.

I am the director of a small electrical contractor and the company conduct of ERG has been nothing short of TERRIBLE! At this time of writing my company is owed 6 payments dating back many months for works carried out on their behalf… I have been passed pillar to post and the accounts department very rarely answers the phone once you manage to get the number. Emails are responded to that payments are been looked into and will be released asap and the payments never materialised. If you are a contractor working for or considering sun contracting on behalf of ERG my advice would be don’t get involved. 30 days waiting terms for payments and often you will wait longer or in my case the payments done come at all. Awful company from not only the consumers side but also the contractors they use to carry out work are ripped off. No morals what so ever at ERG.

Very angry that waited in for two whole days. Had to keep phoning to find out were the plumber was. Phone calls were cut off on a few occasions. When I did get through I was informed that someone would definitely be coming but no-one came. I did get a call on the first and second evening to tell me they were not coming. Would have been better if I was told sooner to make other arrangements.

This company took a booking for removal of radiators. They failed to turn up. When I rang them they twice told me someone was on the way. On a third call, they suddenly told me their subcontractor was on holiday and would not be coming. This was on a Friday and I had other contractors waiting on the plumber to do their work. I had to make alternative arrangements with another company (who were very good) and this all cost an extra £350. Worst service I have ever received from a plumbing company. My advice - do not use them they are unreliable.

Booked to check 3 leaking toilet flush mechanisms. The engineer was here at the most 15 minutes, still charged £135+VAT, said he needed to order parts. Phoned the next day with quote, £559, to replace 3 flush mechanisms which they said would take 3-4 hours work. The parts are £15.99 each and my neighbour did his in an hour. DONT TOUCH ERG WITH A BARGE POLE. To be honest I’m surprised they’re still trading and can sleep at night.

Disgustingly rude woman on the phone. She said engineers charge by the hr £245 + VAT per hour. I hesitated and said I couldn't stretch to that. Before I had a chance to say anything else she hung up. Disgusting. Who does she think she is? She certainly shouldn't be customer facing/front of house! I've read other comments. I'm surprised this company exists. Don't touch them with a barge pole. Didn't get as far as an engineer so I guess this will NEVER be posted but I will find some way to let people know how poor you are! Social media is a great asset.

Really Bad!! Took the morning off work, for an appointment between 09.00 and 13.00. Must admit the Lady who took the call was very helpful. My job was a very simple electrical oven instalment. Should take 10 mins, because I knew this , I was aware that a lot of electricians would prefer a larger job. So I chose to use ERG, despite being almost twice the price, I just wanted the job done. Was called at 12.17 to ask if I could change the appointment to the afternoon, as previous job had overrun, OK, I said but as I have to return to work, can you give me a time? No was the answer, it would be between 13.00 and 17.00 … Now unless I’m missing something here, I’m the Customer, not the other way around… If I don’t go to work I don’t get paid. Imagine me calling my Boss.”Hi .. need extra time off.. the Electrical Guy is running late, can’t give me a time … Should be today…I’m sure you understand….!! REALLY.. I cancelled the appointment .. much to the surprise of the guy who’d called me. His surprise was almost like I’d cancelled a last minute Dr’s emergency appointment.. I subsequently contacted a local Electrician directly who has given me a one hour slot next week at half the price.. Just Saying.

Unbelievably poor service. I tried this company as they advertise fast, reliable and affordable emergency support 24/7 see screen shots. I had an emergency leak on a Sunday and they said someone would be with me that day. No one came! They told me someone would attend in the morning. No one came! They told me they would be there by 2pm. No one came! I cancelled them and called a proper plumber. Definitely NOT fast! Definitely NOT reliable! £175+vat+parts for a Sunday call out. I was willing to pay this as it was urgent. Don't waste your time!
