I recently purchased a bike for my step son for £429.99. On arrival it was apparent that the seat was too high and needing adjustment. My local store offered to do this and on arriving they attempted to set the bike up. At this time they were unable to fit the pedals and basically told me I had damaged the threads due to installing them incorrectly. I told them categorically I had not so much as touched the pedals! I had to return home and take it up with an online team. Their customer service was nothing short of abhorrent. Cocky, rude and obnoxious. Totally unwilling to offer a refund due to in their “opinion” I had damaged it. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 as I made them aware is based on fact and not “opinion”. I asked if they could prove it was not damaged on arrival, they couldn’t. I also asked for proof that this bike was not a return, they couldn’t. I found it impossible to make any progress even being refused a telephone number for head office. A section 75 is now my only option. And I’m now lumbered with a piece of expensive useless metal.

I feel sorry for all those having major concern with this unethical business. They are a bunch of liars. I hope that this gives you an idea of what kind of individuals are you dealing with. To whom I may concern, Find below my resignation email. I believe that as business you must realise of the importance of: 1- Customers; are the ones who pay the lifestyles of their employees and in some cases even employees families. 2- Store employees; are the face of the company, the only asset, since without us stores would not open, bikes would not get build or repair and customers would not get served by knowledgeable, motivated assets. Overall a business will not run. Basic moral ethics have to do with distinguishing the difference between “good and bad” or “right and wrong. Very clearly the company for the past 15 weeks has not been able to distinguish the above. Furthermore , two emails I sent explaining how challenging is to work in Hendon under cero internal support, not action was taken. It’s shameful to read customer comments in Evans Cycles social media platforms as well as facing them on a daily basis. It is extremely challenging when the vast majority of customers treat you you like it is your fault that their bikes are not delivered yet, that their home delivery orders cannot be tracked in store, that their V12 finance refund has not been done or RTW (others) have not been cancelled or refunded, that they cannot get hold of anyone at head office and customer contact centre. It has come to a point that they just vomit their frustration with the company on you. As you can imagine and understand, all this has a limit. Their greetings tend to be “ where is my bike” “give me a number or email that I can contact “ “webpage says...” I cannot longer be suffering of anxiety, distress and disrespect at a workplace and a company that is soul destroying. At the time being I need time to recover my mental health and family. At the present time, I’m not mentally fit to be part of this unethical business. After, several weeks of daily harassment from customers and company, today Friday July 31st 2020, my journey with Evans Cycles has come to an end. Yours sincerely,

The worst online retail experience of my life... Probably the worst online retail experience I have ever had... - Said it would be 10 - 14 day delivery online - Taken my payment online £1000 - Heard nothing for 28 days - Web chat offline all day everyday - No response to email 14 days ago - No response to Facebook message 7 days ago I'm now stuck in limbo and cannot do anything - regardless of COV-19 this company should not be allowed to profiteer by misleading customers. Had I known the above was going to happen I would never have ordered - they know there is an issue yet are still taking peoples money. Disgraceful...

Ordered a bike mid April and they said it was in stock and would take 14 days, this then went up to 21 days and then I contacted support and they said it would take 7 days to respond. 7 days??? To respond to an email? Still no bike 21 days later. STAY AWAY from Evans. Useless in all respects.

I tried to purchase an ebike and paid in full for the bike and delivery. This was supposed to be a 10 day delivery, after 14 days I called and was told that the bike was coming from another store. After 25 days I still hadn't received the bike so called again. This time they would have it delivered by the end of the week. I received a call later that day to say the bike was damaged and couldn't be delivered. I was waiting for the money to be refunded so I could purchase another bike from elsewhere. When searching for a another bike, guess what I found, the same bike being advertised yet again on the Evans Cycles website. So, No Bike - No money, and the bike being re-advertised. Absolute joke!

I booked my bike in for a silver service. Gears not properly adjusted, so took it back in. The mechanic threw his hands in the air and refused to do anything having told me he would need to “bend things”( That is no way to treat Campagnolo components), turning his back on me to speak with the female assistant, excluding me from their conversation. Female assistant then insisted she could adjusted the gears despite my reservations. The outcome was she tried vigorously until breaking my gear shifter. It is costing me over £400 to rectify this. Evans customer services only response to my complaint is a trite apology. I am only glad I demanded a refund of the silver service in store, but informed them I hold them responsible for the damage caused. I will never trust this company with my bicycle again. I will continue to pursue Evans for the cost of the damage their negligence has caused. Just terrible on all levels.

Ordered a Pinnacle Lithium 2 The bike arrived with several scratches The disc brakes were catching on both wheels The seat post was also too high. I am 5ft 4 inches tall and used your online size guide to determine that I needed a small frame. This also matched the dimensions of my previous bike. However, due to the attachment for a water bottle, it was impossible to lower the seat post, and thus the bike was too big for me. This is not mentioned on the website and should be! The brakes felt very unstable and the gear changes were very noisy/clunky. I called the Reading store. They told me to bring the bike in for them to look at and that it is known that you cannot lower the seat very much on a Lithium 2, so they would cut the seat post for me. On Sunday 4th June, I drove a 62-mile round trip and spent 3.5h taking the bike to the Evans Cycles store in Reading + waiting time. The mechanic cut 1.5 inches off of the seat post but confirmed that the bike was not set up right. He said it was common with online orders and customers should always get their bikes via the store. He suggested I get the brakes bled and the gears checked, but he could not do it there and then, I would need to come back and they all were booked up. Monday 5th June: I have called all of the nearest stores and everyone is completely booked up until the end of the month. Their phone number is near impossible to find, but someone from one of their stores shared it with me. When I called, I was told there was no manager to speak to, so I had to email. After a few days of chasing this complaint, they offered me a £25 gift voucher, which doesn't even cover my costs incurred so far. Either they take the bike back and exchanged and offer me correct renumeration for my costs, or I will bring the bike into a store, leave it there and cancel the contract I used to buy it through work. I am now in touch with trading standards about them selling a bike that was unfit and dangerous to ride

Worst online ordering setup I've seen. Can't change the order at all, including address! Just have to wait for it to arrive then send it back (at your own cost)... All further complicated if you're on the cycle to work scheme. Terrible customer support, no contact number. AVOID.

This company needs to do a better job at hiring people and not hire known pedophiles at their company.

Big thanks to Dan at Evans' Mortimer Street, branch in London's West End today (Sunday). Had two broken spokes and was sorted out in thirty minutes for the long ride home. He also went to the trouble of truing the wheel to perfection and was really obliging throughout. A reminder that Evans has some good people and that personal service is still there.

Difficult decision here, sales over service.. I recently (late Jan 2020) purchased a Trek cycle from here. The sales man was fantastic, very knowledgeable, helpful & answered my questions very professionally.. The service (staff) on the other hand, atrocious.. I returned the bike for the complimentary "health check" 3/4 weeks later. I informed them I thought the gear changes were not as crisp as I would have thought & maybe a little noisy.. On returning to collect I was informed the bike needed a new chain & they advised it was changed. I said it was a new bike & surely the chain should last longer than that. To which I was told "you'll have to take that up with Trek".. What?? I didn't buy the bike from Trek, I bought it from Evans so shouldn't they change the chain & then they take it up with Trek?? I paid up, left & they didn't even give me the "worn out" chain.. First ride anger disappeared as I thought the chain had resolved any issues.. Sadly I was wrong.. The noises returned but I couldn't see anything strange (though I'm not a bike mechanic).. A couple of weeks later out on a ride the chain broke.. I rang for DW to come & get the bike & to bring DS's bike (also a Trek) so I could finish the ride.. What I noticed straight away was the difference in gear changes & "no strange noises".. Once home I fitted a new chain but the noises were still there so I contacted a local independent qualified bike builder to see if he could help me.. Within 10 minutes of him getting the bike he contacted me to tell me the rear cassette hadn't been fitted properly, allowing for bad shifting & water ingress which was the cause of the excessive noises, as well as the chain wear.. CONCLUSION.. My advice if you want a bike from Evans at Preston, great they will sort you out, but for maintenance/servicing take it to someone who knows what they're doing, you'll be better for it in the long run.. Very shoddy service which totally destroyed the faith in them that the sales man had built up..

Evans stole my money I bought a saddle in red (because this was the cheapest colour) in september 2019 online. Evans cycle couldn't deliver because they said, they were out of stock. So far so good, mistakes happen. Other customers recieved the same saddle in black instead, I would have been fine with that, too. Evans refuse. But the say, they will have stocked up in februrary 2020. I wait 6 months, Evans writes me, they have no red saddle in stock, I write them, " send the black one instead". Evans don't react to my emails. Evans write my, they can not refund my money via paypal because of reasons. I have to call them and give this missmanaged and unsecure business my credit card details. I write them an email- no reactions from evans. After a month, they send me a voucher for their store, which is completly useless for me. Thanks Evans Cycle for stealing my money.

They are ok up until the sale is complete...after-sales support is non-existent. After a couple of experiences with them, I would now avoid them at all costs. If you do buy from them, just remember that this is a bicycle supermarket that moves volume and cuts costs to the bone - which means expect nothing from them once they have your money. God help you if there is something wrong with your bike..get ready to fight them for months.

Spent £1000 on a bike in the Glasgow store. All seemed fine until I took it in after 5 weeks for a free check. It came out with the back brakes scraping rhymicaly whenever you cycle in a high gear, or up a hill, or stand on the pedals. Returned twice to store: Once to be told it's "normal", "within tolerance" and "all bikes make noises". Given a patronising lecture on how to ride a bike and told to video it if I felt it was still making an unreasonable noise. Took it back a few weeks later with a couple of videos. Told it's a tiny noise, "all bikes make noises". Evans tried to charge me to fix it (they haven't fixed it!) because "repairs are only guaranteed for 30 days". What repair? There was nothing wrong with the bike until you "fixed" it. Service manager in Glasgow seems to be both incompetent and very rude. A powerful combination. This is the 4th bike I've bought from Evans. And my last ever purchase. I'm now an ex-customer.

I would give them 0. I ordered a product which they then cancelled for security reasons. I spoke to customer services to chase my refund which eventually arrived. I then reordered the product believing the first drama was a fair mistake and they cancelled the order again without letting me know by email and for no good reason. Avoid these guys like the plague they are criminally incompetent.

Totally disinterested staff. Poor range of stock. Haven't been for a while, forgot what it was like. Won't go back. Guildford.

Ordered a bike from Evans. Paid deposit. Had to chase. Apparently their computer system is not good enough to allocate stock. So someone else got my bike and i don't get what was ordered and confirmed as ordered. unfortunately no one told me so by the time i phone to follow up, sales are over and of the Bikes i was looking before at elsewhere, have sold out. They will offer to refund my money or sell me a worse bike. They won't offer me the new model unless i pay GBP 200 more. If you ask for help and make a complaint you get a replay of choose a worse bike or take you money back. Pretty awful experience. beware an order is not actually an order at Evans. Money changing hands means nothing.

Do not even think about working for this company, particularly because you enjoy cycling. Make no mistake - this company IS the Sportsworld of the cycle industry and actively encourages its managers to exploit and hurt you in any way they can. It even incites other staff to do this as well. It has such a low opinion of its staff it even struggles to pay the minimum wage to them. I've never worked for a company that has such an inherently nasty culture - avoid!, avoid!, avoid!
