“This is the worst disingenuous car hire company and I’ve tried a a lot. They said my credit card pin wasn’t valid at 11.30pm and that they were going to close leaving me without a car so I had to pay 280pound extra.
They then took €450 from bank. This was on top of £350 car hire cost.
So paid over £700 for one week.
There was no issue the next day with my PIN number at different company.
So they conned me to get full insurance.
Disgusting company.

I get home and I find I'm charged from Hertz???? I have no phone reception to call Expedia since I'm in Mexico and they won't let me use their phone.”

“Having used this company I would honestly say they are nothing short of being corrupt and fraudulent !! I travelled to Malaga and on collecting the car told the sales assistant at the desk I didn’t require the extra insurance cover and they could block €1043 from my credit card and that would be only used to cover the excess if we had a accident I agreed and signed the forms that clearly showed 0.00 and couldn’t believe it when I checked on my return home to UK they had charged me £300.00 on top of the original £230.00 I paid to doyouspain.com I instantly contacted Firefly to ask what was going on ? and couldn’t believe their response saying I had signed for it and nothing they were prepared to do.Please avoid this company as it’s plain to see they are ripping off people and all staff are well aware of their illegal business practices!! “We have been fraudulently charged 418 euros to out credit card the day after we arrived back from Málaga following a car hire with Firefly from Málaga Airport. Still unsure what it was allegedly for as cannot get through to them and they have not explained this to us. This seems to be common practice judging from the reviews here. Would avoid at all costs and will never use them again.”

We had a TERRIBLE experience , we rented a car at Malaga airport, the car rental cost £191.93 + I ordered full insurance for £55.89, when we were asked at the check-in desk about additional insurance we declined,but they force you to sign for a deposit they say you will get back when you return the car.
when we returned from holiday the next day, our credit card was charged extra £193.77, per rebuttal, which is more than the total cost of the car rental. when we contacted the company to try to clear up this misunderstanding phone not answered, and I can’t find email address

“Avoid like everyone else is saying, I rented at alicante airport through do you spain, at the counter they blocked €1000, they also took a surcharge for refuelling of €31 and a full tank of €85, so €116, I was told to give the car back empty which I questioned but was assured to give it back empty or with fuel and I would be refunded for the fuel in the tank.
I've since checked my credit card statement and there's no charge for €116, there is a charge for £193, for what I've no idea, must be for fuel but way more than €116.
Do yourself a favour and avoid if you don't want scammed.”
“Cheated by Firefly on the Super Cover insurance. We weren't cautious enough and relied on the employee's explanations regarding the fees. She said we paid for a fuel guarantee only and it would be reimbursed at the end of the rental. We indeed got back the fuel guarantee but they kept 150€ for of an insurance we dit not need and did not want. I wrote to them and Car Trawler, they would never admit. Avoid them and mother company Hertz at all costs.”
“They charged me an additional £94, as I read the other reviews I was lucky with this low amount! No reason of the charge, I took back the car undamaged, on time, with full tank. They don`t answer the phone, don`t call back,. I cannot download the final bill and charges, the system did not find me. This is a total scam company, as I read the other reviews, they do this with everyone, please keep away from this company!”

“This companies trading practices are unacceptable. We were charged £138 for refuelling our hire car even though proof of refuelling had been provided. They refuse to accept all the evidence we’ve provided and refuse to refund us the charges. We had to claim on our credit card to return the money. Firefly should not be able to get away with this sort of business practice. Stay well clear unless your willing to do battle with an unscrupulous company”
“Scam, lure with attractive car rental prices, then when picking up the car € 192 extra is charged at the Firefly counter, for example for a full tank and € 50 extra 'service costs' for refueling?! + airport tax, 5 lines of fabricated and unavoidable costs. On top of that, immediately pay a deposit of 1,000. Firefly/Hertz employees are behind this doyouspain policy. When picking up the fuel gauge is not even at the top and I still had to refuel the car myself. We get a car with various minor damage, so they have damaged customers € 1000 per time and therefore do not repair the damage. I had pre-booked a specific car, but then I even got a smaller car, but according to the desk clerk, it fell within the same category. Scandalous practices, stay away from doyouspain and firefly!”
“never again this car rental company - car booked through rentalcars.com with full insurance, FireFly did not accept the insurance without any notice and let me sign their insurance without informing me or at least mentioning it. I had no opportunity to express my approval or disapproval, the lady at car pick-up just presented me with one paper and said - yes, everything is fine, you have full insurance, sign here and you can go. It cost me extra EUR 280. FireFly's behaviour is totally unreliable, unethical and unprofessional.”
“Read the reviews about Firefly. They are all true. Avoid them at all costs. They will scam you out of money one way or another. They incentivise their staff to add huge charges to your account. If you try to complain they will completely ignore you. Avoid!!”
“We rented a car at Malaga airport and had paid for the car in advance. When we got to the counter they asked if we wanted extra insurance. We answer no, we don't need that. When we got to the next counter to pick up the car, they asked for a credit card where they stated that they were deducting a deposit which we will get back on delivery of the car. They deducted 444 euros. When we got home to Norway, we got 147 euros back. I wanted to hear the reason for this and spent a long time trying to find the right place to turn to in this matter. When I finally got an answer, they said it was because we had signed up for Supercover! Which we never did. I've emailed back and forth to explain that we didn't ask for this, but they won't budge and won't refund! I feel this is really deceiving customers. Steer clear of Firefly, Cartrawler and Hertz. A good piece of advice is to read EVERYTHING on the contract, even if there is a mile-long queue behind you! Tell all your friends about this so they are aware of this practice.”
“The company lives off fraud. For a child booster seat they charge the same as for a car! In addition, they strongly urge you to take out insurance, even if you already have it. Be careful when signing the papers before getting the car. And take good photos of the car from all sides before you get in it. Better yet, avoid them.”
