Absolute diabolical company. Not worth the names it’s given. They will take your loved ones money without a problem whilst they’re alive. But you may as well forget about trying to claim after your love one has died. Instead of paying a monthly direct debit to legal and general, you should set fire to your money each month as it’s as good as. Not only is it 6 months since we started a claim for the £10,000 insurance policy which my Nan took out to cover her funeral costs. Today they have decided that they will not be paying out. Over the last 6 months, I had to contact them to chase Over 200 times, I’ve spent hours gathering all the information they required, I've had to chase GP for evidence as legal and general are not in any hurry and will do everything the can to delay the process. Not an ounce of empathy or compassion for the loved one you have just lost. Please please please think twice before taking a policy out with this company. Once you’re gone your family will face months of upset and stress to be told that they’re not paying out. Our case will be on the hands of our solicitor first thing Monday morning. And legal and general please spare me the automated reply in relation to this review. I will not be emailing you, you may have gotten away with it a thousand times before, but this time you won’t be so lucky. I’m sure we will be speaking to you very soon.

Nobody would answer a phone call for a simple renewal question. Every single contact number stated - One of our advisors will be with you shortly - but nobody ever answered the phone. Thanks for holding on, we are on our way to help The worst customer service I have ever experienced - good job I wasn't making a claim. I have to ask the question 'are they still operating as a business?" - all I want to do is speak to someone

• This is an insurance company with no ethics and when it comes to having to deal with claims for damages, the company resorts to all the ploys in the book to wriggle itself out of the responsibility of paying out. From my direct experience with them, L&G tend to treat you with contempt and unfairly, simply because you've had the misfortune of claiming damages from them for the losses covered by your insurance policy. Having experienced such a problem with L&G, I lodged a complaint against them with the Financial Ombudsman, thinking that the Ombudsman’s intervention will help me to get a fair treatment; unfortunately, it has taken the Financial Ombudsman over a year to come up with a rubbish, manipulative assessment of my complaint. The question then arises that where can we get justice in this country if all the systems in place are all established to prevent you from succeeding against the wrongdoings of the likes of L&G, banks, utility companies, telecom Companies and so on.

Bought the Critical Illness and Life Insurance policy in good faith many years prior to being diagnosed with a degenerative disease. To cut a rather lengthy and unfortunate story short Legal & General decided to question my illness regardless of its severity and my not being able to work AND DUG into my private life and inheritance after my mothers death (from cancer); to state that because I inherented a business from my family that I do not qualify for the policy claim. All these underhanded actions to avoid a rather large payout. Disgusting!!!! I am currently and with costs going through the Ombudsman. Please do NOT take out any of their policies. Legal & General's practice to avert payouts are totally unethical and will worsen any diagnosed ailment! - as that is inevitablely their aim.

This company have never written to me in the in the 14 years I've been with them. I have reported this company to the fca, there will be an investigation. I think there customer services is terrible ,they will give you any explanation to avoid saying sorry or putting the situation right. It's about time this company took a good luck at its services. I would avoid this company for these reasons. A good company would always keep in touch with you annually just to let you know you are a customer of theres. Shocking !!!!!!!!

Dont ever buy a polucy with L & G After a water leak they Appointed a company called BVS to deal with the damage. Prices offered were less the half of water 3 building contractors priced to do the work. BVS don't do any building work but are there to short change policy holders. Stay well clear of both companies.

I would rate you 0 if this page allowed me. Absolutely horrendous service from start to finish and wouldn't even pay out on our claim, which they haven't issued a valid reason for. Some incompetent person pocessed the claim wrongly to begin with and now it has left us with nothing because not one person in that call centre can do their job. Avoid this company because believe me you will pay monthly and get nothing from them, not even a good service.

Woeful company!!! Do not use!!!! I am currently staying with my parents, on the 6th September their dining room ceiling came down. Investigations showed that the hot water tank had a crack, which over time had caused water to seep into the surrounding floorboards. Legal and general were informed and a surveyor was sent out to assess damage. He was concerned the flooring was not entirely safe to walk on and shoul be done immediately. Legal and general assured us it was in hand, and would be swift as we were (and still are) without heating and hot water. Over 6 weeks later. Have been passed from pillar to post, told 1 thing by 1 person and another from others etc. Thought we had a breakthrough last week, when told workmen coming this morning to start ripping up old floors, workmen arrived with the news that L & G had not agreed costings with them yet and they couldn't start. Aaaaarghh! I'm 6 months pregnant, no heating, no hot water, unsafe flooring and no apologies from L & G for this utter fiasco. They don't seem to care, awful company. I'd advise to seek insurance elsewhere.

Don't touch this company. 8 weeks after a simple pet claim all certified by the vet and still not resolved or paid. You cannot speak with anyone as calls are over 20 minutes waiting and still in a queue. There is no complaints line. In effect, there appears to be no company at all but one that takes your money. I will be cancelling and never go near them again. Not fit for purpose as an organisation.

Avoid!! Avoid!!! Avoid!!!!!! Have a leak in a roof valley which has caused water damage inside my home and brought the bathroom ceiling down. Made a claim online and was promised a call back between 5 pm and 8 pm the next day. I finished work early to make sure I was available. The call never came so I had to contact them again. Refused the claim because "there has not been enough rain to meet their criteria". I live in Doncaster, look at the news! This is the first claim I have ever made from any insurance company after being a home owner for over 30 years. To be told there has not been enough rain when parts of the town and village i live in are under water is scandalous.

Without doubt one of the most painful experiences I have ever had to go though. They used BVS Solution to inspect an Escape of water. Claim was made just before Christmas 2017, closed end of October 2018. Not happy to close but couldn't bare to drag in on, which is what they want. The only advise i can give is to make notes and take plenty of photographs. My claim went from all they would cover was replacing the unit under the sink to replacing floor tiles and the whole kitchen. I had to force through every stage. Truly awful company

I am writing so you can hopefully bring this issue to light as I know I am not the only service veteran this company has done this to . I left the royal air force after serving 15 years for which I was then entitled to my service pension at the age of 60 . When I left the service in 1990 I had various products with Legal and General and a member of there staff convinced my wife and I it would be beneficial to change my Service Pension to one of there opt out schemes he guaranteed my pension would be greater than my forces pension. I approached them to ask how to claim my pension as I am 60 next March only to be told I cannot have my pension till age 65 . My Royal Air Force pension would have been payable at 60 were I would have got approx £7000 per annum and a tax free sum 3 times my annual pension amount . My service pension is calculated by length of service / rank /trade . So not only do Legal and General say I wont get a pension till age 65 but will only get around £5500 per year and no lump sum , so my wife and I have been lied to and misled to cheat me out of my earned service pension . I have complained through there complaints process and told there is nothing they can do so I then called the Chief Exec but he refused to talk to me . I then asked for his contact details to be told NO . I then wrote to him at there head office only to get a responce from some one else . I then get a letter stating they have done nothing wrong and my pension stands as they told me .

Have so many regrets using this company to insure our pet. They argued over a period of six months before paying out for our three valid claims. During this time we had to act as 'go between' with L&G and our vets as they claimed to be unable to contact them. Many excuses were used to try and avoid legitimate payment and we had to take matters further with the support of our vet until payment was made. No department communicate with each other and it had proved a very unpleasant and stressful time for my partner and I after the already heartbreaking situation of losing our much loved young Boxer dog. Unfortunately had to award one star as it doesn't accept zero. Avoid this company

We have had the misfortune to have an ongoing claim with legal and general for water damage. They are completely incompetent. They could not even document the correct amount of rooms we had water damage in, they even mistook tiles for laminate flooring. We had ten visits from multiple contractors they use, several of the visits cancelled some without any notice at all. They then offer a sum in settlement which is a fifth of the cost of the work with no breakdown of the work behind it. This is still ongoing I would never recommend to use them they just go to extreme lengths to not pay out what they owe.

L&G reneged on my insurance cover resulting in my having to close my factory and sack my loyal workforce. I regularly paid the premiums but they never gave me my policy. They say I was the victim of a scam but all payments went through their bank and I have bank statements to prove it. I have been fighting for justice for years but I am just a minnow against them. I allege they are dishonest and couldn`t care less about a small man like me.

Storm damaged my roof, so I tried to make a claim from them. They told me they did not insure asphalt flat roofs but when I took out the insurance I was advised they did. I wrote to Nigel Wilson the CEO, who basically could not care less & passed me on to a Chris Newman who certainly could not care less.In have since cancelled the balance of the insurance with them, they even tried to charge me £24.99 cancellation fee, until I threatened to take them to court. Buildings insurance with these people is in my opinion just legalised fraud. They are a very dubious company in my opinion.

20 years ive been with this company, and never made a claim. untill last week when my lounge ceiling came down due to a water leak in the bathroom up stairs. They will look or any excuse not to pay up, and refused my claim because it wasent wet enough, It was 10 days untill they sent a man around to look and it had dryed out a lot by then. Ovoid this company there is no point having insurance if they wont pay out

I had a burst water pipe four months ago in Sept 2016. We are now towards the end of Jan 2017 and I still have no cooking facilities nor a kitchen for that matter. I have wires all over the place and holes in the ceiling still etc. I have a four year old son who lives with me. They do not communicate with you and they do not care, no point phoning the call centre people a waste of space. They have caused me so much stress from all of this. It has affected my wellbeing. Do not use them EVER!!!

Reported a claim and 2 weeks passed and heard nothing called them again to be told someone would be in touch within 24 hours that was a monday by friday still no call. I called them again on my dinner hour to be on hold for 52 mins on a premium rate call to be told sorry wrong department so called again to be messed around and put through to wrong department another twice. This company take your money but arent there to help when you need it. The attitude of the advisors and the knowledge is non existant i will think again when renewing my insurance. Very poor customer services they should be out of business
