I had a letter from Close Brothers finance, which had 'Brought to you from Sure Thing' In its letterhead. I phoned and cancelled the direct debit assuming I had cancelled the policy as well. I changed motor vehicles in the interim and went with AXA. No payments were made to Sure Thing so when I cancel the old direct debit in December approximately 4 months later. I am debited from my account £212 for a policy which I didn't have. I have been trying to get the money back. It also incurred £30 overdraft fee. Rip off merchants at their best. Avoid at all costs.

Hi Michael, thank you for taking the time to leave your one star review. Unfortunately, if you cancel the direct debit it does not cancel the policy at the same time, however if you arranged alternative cover for the vehicle on your Sure Thing! policy or if you have sold that vehicle you can send proof to documents@surething.co.uk and we can speak with the underwriter about possibly backdating the cancellation of your policy to allow you to be refunded. If you require anything further you can contact me directly at feedback@surething.co.uk. Regards, Vicky.

I was trying to get to talk to someone to buy car insurance and I got tired of waiting (10 minutes +). I hate to think how long would I have to wait were I in the unfortunate position to submit a claim.

total rip off, canceled my policy that was all paid up to date, received email to say policy canceled and no more payments would be taken. so direct debt stopped. they then attempted to take money from my account fraudulently saying i owed them a cancellation fee. £60, plus service charge £90, plus more on top? this was not mentioned in the email from them, i then offered to make payments to clear the amount that they have invented but NO, they say they we do not take payments? and it will be passed on to a collection agency if not paid in full in 21 days. (avoid this company like the plague) also, it is no good trying to work things out with them as they just do not want to know. SURE THING, please do not bother to reply with your total nonsense as i am fed up with your excuses and avoidance tactics. please do not bother to recommend calling you as this is a total waste of time as you well know. (AVOID THIS COMPANY)

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to leave your review. I apologies that you feel this way on the back of the service you have received. All of our fees & charges are disclosed both online and via telephone prior to purchasing a policy but I appreciate this doesn't take away from the frustration of having to pay cancellation fees or administration charges. If you would like me to investigate any specific concerns you have please don't hesitate to email me directly on feedback@surething.co.uk. Regards, Vicky.

Set this up online via compare the market as looked a good price, then my insurer offered me a much better deal! Within an hour of setting it up I tried to ring to cancel to discover they closed at 1pm. Immediately sent an email to inform and was told 2 days later to ring.....£30 admin charge to cancel when my policy hadn't even started yet and tried to cancel straight away! Absolutely ludicrous!!!! What admin.....they only sent me a couple of emails!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!

I went through a comparison account and came to sure thing, i knew something was dodgy about these guys but couldn't remember what it was, then i remembered they take payments even when they say its declined. Today I tried 3 times to take out insurance and 200 pound later nothing all because my card wasn't registered to my own address absolute gangsters

Hi Paul, thanks for taking the time to leave your review. At the point of purchase we advise that we can only accept payment if the card being used is in the name of the policyholder and the billing address is the same as the address provided in your quote and if this is not the case we ask you to call our customer service team. We can confirm if the card used was not registered to the address on the quote the money will automatically be returned to your account by your card provider. We are unaware of the timescale associated with this as the funds are in your card providers holding account and not with Sure Thing. Kind Regards, Vicky.

worst cancellation policy ever, wanted to cancel 6 months into a policy, the charges to do so were almost as expensive as keeping the policy running for the final 6 months, wont ever use again

Cancellation of insurance. I called to cancel my policy after selling my vehicle to be advised they want to charge me £151. Absolutely ridiculous and a total RIP off. I have never been charged such a high amount for cancelling anything, it's almost the cost of the full insurance premium

Hi Susan. Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I'm very sorry that you feel this way on the back of the service you have received form Sure Thing! All of our fees & charges are disclosed online prior to purchasing a policy and again at the renewal stage but I appreciate this doesn't take away from the frustration of having to pay a cancellation fee itself when ending your policy. Just cancelled my policy because I've sold my Saab 93. Nowhere on their or Close Brothers documentation are cancellation charges made clear. Just the total amount and that I'll be charged £30 if I don't pay on time. Charge for ending the policy: £60 cancellation fee - which I assume is made by Close Brothers Premium Finance plus a further £25 'from the insurer' (Sure Thing). In total, I have paid 11.5 months worth of insurance to cover a period of 3 months. Really, really annoyed.

£60 to cancel my van policy after I had to close my small business........ £60 to press a button on a computer. Insured through them twice NO CUSTOMER LOYALTY. I was also told this would be taken from my account in 7 days and if not paid within 28 it would be handed to debt collectors. Nice doing business with you SureThing. They sure done me dry.

Appalling Service when renewing insurance, clearly had not bothered to investigate whether an outstanding claim was closed and dispatched a ridiculously expensive quote anyway.

I think anyone looking at your site should look at the bad reviews. Worst company I have ever dealt with. Trying to say I have not declared an accident when I had not had one. Even with proof you wanted to charge over £100 to alter the policy. Disgusting.

Received my new insurance proposal from sure thing after being with them a year,i noticed my no claims discount was stated incorrectly so contacted the customer service team only to be told to my astonishment a year had been taken off for a claim I had made.I have NOT made any type of claim or been involved in any kind of collision. How this has been allowed to happen is beyond me and fraudulent activity to take place using my policy and vehicle details is a breach of the data protection act.I did not receive anything stating a claim was being made on my policy and only noticed this at renewal stage. This needs to be resolved quickly as its causing my anxiety and stress.SURE THING IS THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY IVE HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO INSURE MY CSR WITH TO ALLOW THIS KIND OF THING TO HAPPEN.......AVOID,AVOID,AVOID!!!!!!!!!

SureThing....SureRip Off. We have insured with SureThing on our car insurance 10 days before our renewal only to be emailed 2 days after the policy start date that they wanted another £99.17 to cover an amendment as we had not declared an insurance claim and as such our policy would be more and they also levy a £30 admin fee. The claim we had not declared was for damage to an Awning a "tent" in other words nothing to to do with an motoring accident. The Awning was part of our motorhome insurance and it was damaged whilst we were away. It was an add on to our motorhome policy, not vehicle related and Caravan Guard did not feel it should be taken into consideration for a car policy, bur SureThing consider otherwise. So catch 22 we could cancel with SureThing but that would involve a cancelation charge which amounted to almost £100 or we paid the £99.17p they wanted. Sue SureRip Off either way. So when comparing prices be aware of the SureSting....they will rip you off and get more. We are disgusted and when it comes to renewal in 12 month you can be Sure of One Thing they will not be even considered. We warned...

Hi David, I'm really sorry to hear of your experience. It is vital we hold the correct claims information on the policy but I appreciate this incident happened under a motor home policy. Based on your review and email, this incident has been added onto the claims and underwriting exchange database by the insurer who dealt with the incident at the time. We would usually request additional information in this event to look into your enquiry but I have picked up your email last night and have passed this onto our customer service team to look into the enquiry for you. I apologise for any confusion and inconvenience this has caused. All of our fees are disclosed both online and via telephone prior to the point of sale but I acknowledge this may not take away from the frustration of being asked for additional payment. We will be in touch as soon as possible. Thanks, Jonathan.

This is a hard company to deal with because of very high administrative charges. At first you are tempted with low uptake cost on comparison website until you need to change address or vehicle then you will regret it. When I changed my vehicle the old policy was not cancelled and I ended up paying for old and new from £21 to £83.83 per month. Avoid like a plague

Hi Olusoji, I'm sorry to see you feel this way. I appreciate the cost we quoted to process your change of vehicle increased but unfortunately we may not be competitive for all vehicle types. Our administration fees are disclosed prior to purchase both online and via telephone. If there is anything we can do for you regarding this matter, please get in touch. Thanks, Jonathan.

Thought I had filled in application correctly but I was unaware that I had not included a previous claim, unintentionally may I add. I was charged an extra £30 to correct my policy, a few key strokes on your computer, plus extra for the claim. I will not be renewing my insurance with you next year. I could have got a cheaper deal elsewhere even with the claim included. If I had known that I had missed the claim on the form I would have rectified it straight away and therefore my quote would have been dearer resulting me in going elsewhere. I was going to cancel the policy but was quoted £60 to d so plus I would also be charged over £50 for the car cam which Halfords are selling for £31. Any wonder I will not return to you next year.

Hi Kenneth, I'm really sorry to hear of your experience since joining Sure Thing! It is essential we have your correct claims history recorded on the policy to ensure you're fully insured in the event of an accident. However, I do acknowledge you may not have intentionally missed during the quote application stage. This isn't the kind of service we aim to offer and would appreciate the opportunity to rectify this matter. If you could please get in touch via feedback@surething.co.uk with your policy details I can look into this for you. We hope to hear from you soon. Thanks again, Jonathan.
