Please do not use this insurance company ! On 18/06/16 I came home in the early hours of the morning to a burst water pipe upstairs in my bathroom causing water to pour through the ceiling and into the kitchen damaging the ceiling and water boiler directly below. I called co op insurance the following morning telling them I have no water into the house and the boiler has severe water damage. 11 days later and I am still waiting for a visit despite numerous phone calls and being told they are too busy. We were given the name of Ross McMillan at the loss adjusters and 4 phone calls later we have still not managed to speak with him as he was continually "on another call". So 11 days later I have paid to have the leak fixed. We still have no hot water and I have been told to expect a call tomorrow! We are not holding our breath. I will be cancelling the policy for building and contents insurance as soon as possible and advising all friends and family never use this company.

From the reviews here it seems service is good when taking out the policy. That's where it stops. My daughtet's car was hit by a driver who did not stop. Spent evening in A&E and called co-op Fir assistance. Firstly fobbed off due to Bank Holiday. For goodness sake! No help whatsoever. Eventually spoke to at least 3 different people. Guess what - the hire car offer in the terms is subject to rediculous conditions not mentioned at the time of taking out the policy So - No hire car and nothing happening until Tuesday. Can only use their approved repairers (cheap options). Taking out the policy may be easy but heaven help you should you be unfortunate enough to need to claim. WOULD SUGGEST YOU NEVER INSURE WITH THEM

I have been disgusted with the service. I was hit by an uninsured driver and co op have done nothing but leave me high and dry! I have made several complaints about all the delays in the process and still now 7 month on nothing has been resolved

Absolutely no help at all. Every advisor i spoken to were rude and very unhelpful. I have had nothing but trouble since being with them. Absolutely shocking. Not one member of their staff have respect for customers. They speak to you like rubbish and do not help at all. Worst company i have ever been with.

I've no complaints about the co-op's insurance. I've been insuring with them since 1976 and never had to make a claim. My problem is with their attitude towards customers. As I've said I've been insuring with them since 1976 - but do they treat me as a loyal and valued customer? Not likely! My recent renewal notice was 100% higher than other comparable quotes, so when I called them to ask why and could they make their's a little more competitive, I was rather surprised to find they either couldn't or wouldn't. Don't understand their business model at all. Do they want a business or not? Would seem in a very competitive market place the answer to that one is no. They certainly don't have me as a customer any more - after 39 years.

Appalling ! Only one response over 2 months in and that was a month after to ask for documents I'd already sent ! Had they even looked at my claim properly ?! No response to emails apart from automated however hard I try . Making a horrible experience worse. I shall not purchase co op insurance again

"I have had no reason to claim so have no facts to use to compare this company with any other."

Shocking customer care - ridicule you when asking for details of how to claim. . Three weeks down the line and still waiting for copy of ‘small print’ they are referring to when saying “like for like” is not ‘same as what you had’ actually means the cheapest same spec they can find. Please call and ask them what like for like means as it is not what the normal person would interpret it as. Asus £500 laptop, co-op ‘like for like’ is £300 and not Asus. 4 weeks down the line and still not reimbursed and this is at a time for home schooling when we need the laptop. Circa 5 day turn around for email response. Hard copy documents only? In 2021? Quick enough to take the money for their premium insurance yet it’s been far from premium. I am purposely sharing to let people know how poor I feel their service is. Advised excess for personal claim was £300, it was actually £50...seemed a little misleading. If cyclical one could assume that was not an accident that they provided that misleading info to put me off making the claim - but perhaps it was a genuine accident by an ill informed employee?

Text today to say my car insurance expired yesterday. No letter or email before today to remind me and no renewal price. Rang them - told could no offer renewal but could not explain why. No change to my details or the car. We’re happy to insure me and my car last year but not now. Have had to go elsewhere which has actually turned out a lot cheaper. Very poor service from Co-op

I was in a non fault accident and it took over a year for them to sort everything meaning when it come to my renewal because it hadn’t been determined as non fault yet I lost my years no claims until it was resolved making my premium higher. The engineers who fitted the black box broke my glove box which now is costing me to have repaired as I haven’t been able to get hold of anyone for 2 weeks now with the automated message telling me to call back later every time I’ve tried. I’m also paying more than double each month when another company is cheaper without a black box.

My car was written off after the floods in Yorkshire last year. Co-op Eco Insurance paid out on the claim no problem, and everything was handled very well. However... Co-op eco insurance only has ONE underwriter, and they decided they wouldn't insure my new car. I was forced to take out another policy with a good insurer, and when I called to cancel the policy, I was told that because no-one else was involved, the floods were my fault! (I also control the wind, fire, and other natural elements). As river's overflowing were MY fault and they paid out, they are now forcing me to pay the remaining time left on the policy. They were happy to move the policy to another car they would insure, but because they wouldn't insure my new car, they're making me pay. I would highly recommend them when things are going good, but we all buy car insurance for the times when things are going bad - that's where they are pathetic. Do not put yourself through it because a meerkat told you too. Co-op Eco Insurance will cost you. Not recommended at all, and very disappointed.

Useless, left me stranded in wales after car accident. Given totally wrong information when accident reported, had to phone several times and still got no assistance, kept using excuse IT WAS A BANK HOLIDAY. Total incompetence in dealing with this issue.

Would of been zero my partner tried to change his vehicle to a new one to only be told that they can no longer insure him and hes lost his Ncb because someone drove into the back of him last December and the claim was settled between the insurers without them even informing him and their trying to say he caused £8900 worth of damage but his insurance never went up and Visa was also called out to the incident and was more then happy for him to drive away as it was nothing on his part their now saying it's been disputed but could take 2-3months but in the mean time he wont get insured on any vehicle what so ever knowing he has to travel to and from work theyv screwed him over in the worst way possible their the shittest company ever

Absolutely awful insurance company. I had a completely no-fault claim when my car was damaged in a car park, by another person who was also insured with co-op. This claim is still ongoing. Absolutely pitiful lack of communication, tried to push an Auxillis credit-hire car onto me which could end up costing a small fortune, and delays with approving repairs has meant I've been left carless with 4 children. The Auxillis car was at first offered to be delivered immediately, and I was signing for a £400 PER DAY cost, on a year's credit agreement. There is no wear and tear policy for these cars - you are only insured third party, and must agree to pay THEIR costs for any stone chips, windscreen repairs, punctures etc. When I refused this I was offered a direct hire, where the insurance company would take responsibility for the hire cost (bizarrely reduced to £40 per day as a direct hire) but I still had to take personal responsibility for any major or minor damage. Not being prepared to put myself at risk of incurring repairs which may be beyond my control, I went back to the Co-op to refuse the credit hire. They told me this was my only choice. On pressing them, they told me that I could hire a car and they *may* be able to refund it. Who knows how long that process would take? I'll be pushing this to the ombudsman. I specifically asked for calls to inform me of the progress of my claim. Every time, I had to call myself, despite explaining that I needed time to make arrangements. They kept telling me I should be liasing with the garage that had my car - the car still sitting on my driveway. These credit hire companies are the reason premiums are so high - ethical company? I don't think so. AVOID.

Terrible Customer Service. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the price but it is true what they say. you get what you pay for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay away
