I had been a Green Pasture Farms meat box customer since 2014.
As a company they have an excellent range of items and selection boxes which are great value for money. They used to be brilliant, delivering great mixed boxes with no glitches but most recently their service has slackened.
Over the last (approx) 7 months the last few orders I've received have all be problematic. Here is an example of some of the problems i had -
I had ordered 2 mixed meat boxes for lamb, pork, beef and chicken, but received a order that was 70% pork! I had a total of eight pork chops (as well as many other pork items) and one bag of diced chicken! The company apologised saying it was a system error and gave me a discount code for money off my next meat box.
Another time they sent me a frozen item when the box i had selected stated that ALL items would be fresh. I contacted the company who said they occasionally sent out frozen ham shanks when fresh were not available but usually contacted the customer first. I explained to them that i have health issues and didn't ever want to be sent any frozen items as i am not always in a position to cook the item once its defrosted (due to my health). And that was the reason i ordered fresh as i would usually freeze everything. They said they would note this on my file (and refunded me the cost of the joint) but a few meat box deliveries later and i had more frozen items.
This time it was a ham shank AND beef skirt as well as other items that felt partly frozen. I was also missing two meat items (they had enclosed the receipt but two of the items listed were missing).
The company did give me a refund (refunded one box) but i have had to go out and buy meat from elsewhere as i didn't want to risk eating meat that i wasn't sure had been previously frozen (as some of the meat felt half frozen and other pieces were solid completely). As i have health issues i have to really careful with food as a bout of food poisoning can be detrimental to my health (a healthy person many be ill for a few days to a week. whereas i end up being ill for weeks and weeks as my immune system is already weak).
I do appreciate that the company has tried to help by giving me refunds or discounts but unfortunately its just not that helpful. As i have a health issue i am mostly house bound and cannot get out to the shops unless my husband is home and i am well enough to walk that distance. And in most circumstances I'm just not well enough to go out or my husband is working away or is back late. So home shopping is a life saver to me. When we order stuff that arrives and isn't as it should be, it means that i am limited. i can't just go out and buy something as i am house bound. I don't want refunds and discounts, i just want the item i have ordered to be what it said it would be!
I should also note that the last communication i had with them was quite rude to me. In so many words they told me that i should be happy with a refund and that they didnt want me to reply to them as they had said their piece and that was it! I got the impression that they have never heard the phrase 'the customer is always right'.
I had tried to explain that i didnt want a refund and that i was concerned that the meat would make me ill as i wanted to freeze it but it was hard to tell which items were frozen. But they just kept repeating that it was all fresh except the two frozen items (even though i had a video of me showing that more items were frozen! - i often recorded opening my meat box as i would share it on my social media).
After the attitude they had towards me and their complete lack of care, i have decided to find another meat box company.
If you had asked me a year ago what i thought I would have had a different view but something's changed and they seem to have more problems that its worth.
