I paid £139 to book a car online for a few days. When I got there, they took 90 minutes to even serve me and when they did they refused to actually give me a car unless I paid for the full premium reduction - this is despite having all the required information, available credit on my credit card etc. There were a lot of people in front of me having similar issues that I thought were just being unreasonable, but it turns out these guys are just crooks. I declined paying the extra insurance (an extra 300gbp) and they didn't give me the car and refused to refund my booking fee. They straight up stole my money and left me and my pregnant wife abandoned. I wish this was an exaggeration. Don't be tempted by their cheaper booking fees, this company is a scam.

They are a horrible and a disastrous company I’ve never seen a company like that before in my entire life. I don't understand how the 3rd party company's still do business with them. I was very very disappointed with them at Manchester airport, starting with the bus service and till the return of the vehicle. they need to know THATS NOT THE WAY YOU DO BUISSINESS

The company is SCAM. The deposit for the rental that I paid with the credit card was never returned. When contacting them first saying that the money is coming soon and then stop replying at all. DON'T USE THEIR SERVICES AS THEY WILL CHEAT YOU ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.

Beware when you arrive they will charge you up to $300 more than the rental fee for $300,000 liability insurance that they require or you will not get the car and loose any payment you have already made. This is a major ripoff.

For starters, they lie. They claim to be an airport rental but they are not. They are not located to the airport and it is quite a drive to get to them. They do provide a pickup service BUT NOT A RETURN SERVICE. The guy who picked us up was rude and tried to make us feel bad for not paying the parking fee even though they said they were an airport rental. They gave us a vehicle that was not what we ordered or even in the same class. It ended up being a large van. They told us someone would stay late for drop off after closing and not only are their posted return hours incorrect on their website they refused to stay late after we made hotel reservations and everything, because of that they cost us way more money. They took a deposit of over $1,000 US dollars for damage and then the vehicle was returned with a scratch. They didn't send any of the legal paperwork of what the fees were and refused to return any funds. No way a scratch is $1,040. They were rude, they lied, they cost us so much more time and money because of it. Scam isn't even a proper word, they are outright thieves and liars. Worst experience of my life with a rental company.

Worst car hire company ever. They lie to you and if you have a small bump massively overcharge you. They take huge a deposit and you will not see it again. Customer services do not reply to your emails once they have your money. Avoid this company.

Dreadful, dreadful company.,lures in unsuspecting customers with low rental prices and then bends them over. An absolute scandal that they can continue to do business. Avoid at ALL cost. Birmingham International Airport. Don’t get tempted and shafted.

Absolutely disgusting treatment. Customer service appalling, a family of 4, 2 small children, we were in the rental office over 2 hrs, we had a booking which I paid for on a credit card, my husband the main driver. He brought a debit card but this wasn’t accepted for a deposit. They refused to put myself as the lead driver and use my credit card, I phoned the third party easy jet to ask to change the booking, they said they were happy for green motion to change the name. They still refused. It ended with them not renting to us, I lost my money and booked through enterprise rent a car. Done within 10 minutes, better car, better customer service and cheaper!! The manager at Edinburgh airport at green motion was possibly one of the rudest people I’ve ever dealt with (even my five year old said that) avoid this company like the plague!!!!I will be taking this further to get my money back, even the legal route if necessary!

PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!! It’s a complete scam—they will find a scratch on your car and even if you didn’t make it they will charge you!! We rented a car in London for $800 and ended up paying almost double fir bogus charges. BEWARE!!!!

After my first experience with the Green Motion, I found that their business is build in an unfair and impudent manner. This is the only car enterprise which is trying to rip off their clients on anything possible. I was late for 1 hour and 30 minutes for my car collection and when I arrived, the counter staff told me that I have to pay additional €40 because they gave away my car to someone else. I mean I could understand if it actually was the case but I saw may similar cars to the one I booked were standing in the parking slot. Clearly he was lying to me and adhering to the Terms and conditions of the company in order to rip off additional €40 from my pocket. The staff was very arrogant and impolite and almost laughing on me when I tried to explain why I was late. I will never recommend Green Motion as their business is build just on trying to get as much money on anything as possible.

Rented a car from the Gatwick Airport location on May 13, 2022. Purchased insurance at time of rental online. Upon arrival at their office I had to wait 20 minutes for service as the employees dealt with an irate customer. Finally they started to process my rental at which time they informed me I would have to purchase their insurance at a total cost close to my 11 day rental. When I stated that I already had purchased insurance from Lloyds UK at the time of rental and showed my printed policy they stated that they did not accept 3rd party insurance and that I either purchase theirs or would have a 30,000 Pound security deposit charge on my Credit Card. It was then that the clerk informed me that this was the same issue with the previously irate customer encountered and was the reason for the long delay in service. Knowing I had no credit card with a limit this high I was left with no choice but to purchase their overpriced insurance as they clearly stated to me that if I did not purchase or leave the outrageous security deposit they would not rent a car to me. One month after returning home to Canada I noticed another small ($115) charge from this company on my credit card. 2 weeks later I received a 30 Pound Penalty Charge Notice from Brighton City Council for being in a bus lane. While not disputing the charge I wanted to find out what the extra Green Motion charge was for and was informed that it was an administration fee for the Penalty Charge Notice I had received. Outrageous, the administration fee was double the infraction fee. I would recommend all potential customers stay far away from this company as while they initially appear very cheap you will end up paying double the price you initially thought. Stick with a well known reputable company. Upon further investigation of this company after returning home I am not alone in this feeling as their negative customer experiences recorded online far outweigh the positives. Glad I undertook a very thorough inspection of the damaged car upon rental with numerous photos and video as I dread to think what they would have charged me for damaged upon return. Very deceitful in their practices!!

It looks like I am just one of many very unsatisfied "customers" of Green Motion Car Hire. I had a rental reservation for a pick up at East Midlands Airport on Friday 7th February at 7:00pm. I received the confirmation and on arrival at the airport I called the telephone number for the "free shuttle service" given on the confirmation email. However, the call went directly to voice mail. I tried several times but on each occasion it was the same - voice mail. I waited about half an hour with no sign of anyone from Green Motion. So eventually I decided to get a taxi to the Hilton Hotel, Lockington, Derby where Green Motion have their pick up location, however the Green Motion desk at the hotel was in total darkness with nobody around. So I was left with no alternative but to go back to East Midlands Airport and try to rent a car from a more reputable company and I was able to get a car from Enterprise Car Rental. The following day, Saturday 8th at around 10:00am, I called Green Motion on the telephone number given and guess what!! Yes, voice mail. Upon returning home to Spain, I sent an email to Green Motion and told them what happened and you would expect that any reputable company would offer an apology and as a gesture of goodwill reimburse my out of pocket expenses, i.e. the two taxi fares to and from the Hilton Hotel amounting to £26.40. But no. Green Motion lay the blame on me for my flight being delayed by half an hour and me not informing them of this. They had all my flight details and could have monitored the flight just as all the other car rental companies I have used in the past do and so would know of any delays. I had numerous exchanges of emails with their customer services people but to no avail. So all I can say about Green Motion is that they cannot be relied on to deliver the service that had been booked and what is worst is that they seem to have no concept of good customer care. Bottom line - DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE USE GRREN MOTION!! Stick with more reputable companies such as Enterprise, Avis, Hertz, etc. You may end up paying a little bit more but you can rely on good service.

Horrible horrible experience. I just got scammed by this sh*t company. They bully you, harass you and threaten to charge a fortune for damages you didn't create. They charge unreasonable rates for "insurance", which they call "excess reduction". Staff are unbelievably rude and bullying. Avoid this company like the plague. Don't get lured by cheap rates they offer, its nothing but a scam. They know how to line their pockets by scamming innocent customers!!

TOTAL SCAM! I travelled from Hong Kong to UK Heathrow. For the first time I reserved a car at Green Motion near Heathrow. Many things they had pledged did not go through. Upon returning the car to the firm, the vehicle inspector tried hard to get rid of me when I stayed behind him to observe how he inspected the car. It took only a few seconds, during which I was not observing, for him to "find" a scratch which I was sure it had not been there before. Police should investigate for possible fraud. It is a pity that UK Police considered this kind of complaints as contractual disputes and ignored victims.

Do not use this company, they charged me £160 for a scratch on an alloy that was already marked as ScratchedOn the paperwork. . They were rude and unco-operative, when I disagreed. You will need to photo every inch of the entire car before you take it off the car park. And the same when you take it back.. leave yourself plenty of time to check it properly. The agent just said there was nothing I could do he had authorisation to charge my credit card, so I could not stop him. I will never ever use them again.

I’ll give you my advice first, in case you don’t read the rest: THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM WHO WILL RIP YOU OFF - AVOID AND USE A REPUTABLE CAR RENTAL COMPANY. Really bad experience. Renting from these guys should come with a Health Warning and certainly a Financial Warning .... Their business model is quite simple to understand: They rent cars very cheaply to pull in the customers then charge excessively high fees for problems you didn’t cause, i.e. tiny scratches that were already there. You can’t prove that you caused them. The rental begins with the cars being presented to you, usually its just been washed so is still wet. You are given the keys and a paper that you are supposed to fill in. The inspector team are not interested at this point. They know that you will not do the thorough check to the levels they have been trained to and so you spend five mins on your own, note any issues then drive off. The car is is still wet and shiny. All good by Green Motion standards, everything going to plan .... During the rental there are no issues, these cars are very nearly new so there should not be any problems any way. But by now you have realised that they are very high mileage for their age and also covered in scratches, dents, blemishes and scuffs. Far more than you first saw when you were back at the rental yard, on your own with a shiny wet car In front of you. Nevertheless, all good by Green Motion standards, everything still going to plan.... And now onto the final scene, The “Money” shot which every franchisee of Green Motion waits for .. The car return scene. The punter brings the car back. Here you will be very surprised how the lethargic, uninterested inspector team jump into action. Once that car is in front of them, they will be all over it looking for that needle in a haystack. Now as the car is already covered in scratches, dents, blemishes and scuffs it won’t take long for them to find something not previously noted. Our car had over 50 issues with it, so as you imagine, they weren’t all noted. Something will be found, maybe a scratch, a dent or both. And you start asking yourself, “I couldn’t have done this, I’m a responsible driver, I’ve only driven 100 miles, kept it in a garage overnight, .....”. Don’t worry this is part of the plan. You are supposed to be feeling like this right now. The inspector will then take you to his office and tell you that “He’s only doing his job and that the repair fees are all fixed price and On the Wall to view”. Finally onto the bill, tiny invisible dents that were already there - £300+, tiny scratches that were already there £600. You couldn’t see them when the car was wet and shiny..... You get the point, a £50 rental has just become a £1000 rental. If you want a second option, Google, “guardian green motion”. The Guardian newspaper have produced several articles over the last few years (at least 5) talking about this company and it’s practises. Some Insurance firms and car rental websites have stopped working with these guys due to the number of complaints from unsuspecting customers. (I’m not allowed to paste links, so go and google “guardian green motion”) My final piece of advice if you still really want to rent a car from these guys: 1. Go and see a head doctor, you might not be feeling well 2. Get your own rental car insurance, having £0.00 excess from a specialist who is prepared to cover Green Motion cars 3. Photograph every panel on the car 4. Video every panel on the car 5. Argue about repair jobs when they are priced by the Inspection Team 6. Complain to the British Vehicle Rental Leasing Association: (I’m not allowed to paste email adresses but theirs should be easy to find - google “bvrla car rental complaints”
