Poor work and then refuse to discuss!!! I dropped my car for a change of 4 brake discs and pads at an expensive price of £800. When I drove the car home it seemed fine but the next day when I left my house to take other petrol the handbrake locked on and I had to abandon it at the petrol station. After arranging a tow to Halfords to fix it I was told they couldn’t but to take it to Kia to fix and they would refund. I did this at a cost of £2,300! When I contacted Halfords I was passed around and told to email the details and they would arrange it. Then I was told it was with someone else. Eventually I spoke to this senior person who told me he didn’t think they were linked and that these things happen. The very thing they adjusted (rear handbrake is part of disc brakes) had randomly broken the day after the work…okay. I contacted customer services in Oct to complain. I had no response. I then write to Halfords head office in Feb. Again no response. I then emailed the customer services and have now had a response and they are looking into it. I’m not confident they will refund and the next step is legal action. What a pain this has become. I sued Halfords as I thought they were a reputable company who I could trust. I completely understand the mistake. These things happen. But everything afterwards has been appalling and would urge you to avoid them. Lots of reviews when things go right but they’re clearly not interested when they mess your car up at your expense. To add to the issue I have 2 children and ended up having to borrow friends cars to go away on preplanned holidays. Missing one weekend entirely whilst the car was in the garage.

I've used Autocentres for a considerable number of years - long before Halfords even took them over - and have found them ok. However, they are not what they used to be. An advisory point on MOT/service was that front discs and pads were down to 25% and needed replacing. Almost £300 quoted but took to local garage instead which was over £100 cheaper. On examination, they were very honest and said that discs and pads were around 50% so didn't need replacing for probably another 20,000 miles. So, are Halfords trying to rip off customers by recommending additional but unnecessary work? Also, why do they always want the car dropped off before 8.30am irrespective of when the work is being done? I found later that the MOT wasn't scheduled until 9.45am and car was eventually ready at 4.30pm - for just an MOT and interim service. Surely they can organise their work schedule better instead of just seemingly doing work at random.

BEWARE!! BEWARE!! BEWARE!! My 19 Yr old daughter took her car in for a service, tyres, tracking and MOT. They tried to charge her an extra £737 (shock absorbers and mounts). They started stripping the car down which panicked her into paying the extra. Thankfully she wasn't able to get more credit. When she went to collect the vehicle they lost a wheel nut so she was left waiting until the new one arrived. Whilst driving home the car was making a terrible sound she had to pull over and call out the AA recovery, who said the exhaust had been tampered with and would need to be fixed. We took the car to Ashford MOT centre the next day where they passed it without issue. Horrendous people trying to take advantage of people. I have written to head office but had no response

On 13th October, I bought and paid for fitting, a DAB radio at your Merthyr Tydfil branch. On 13th of November, my first fitting booking was cancelled, and, after several visits to your store, was rearranged for 16th November. After approximately four hours, I was informed that the work could not be completed due to no fascia. I was left an envelope with a £20 Halfords voucher. The following day, the heating/aircon/ cooling control panel fell off. On returning to the store, I was told I had to book in with a fitter. Earliest….4th December. On 4th December, after several minutes, I was informed that it was irreparable. I was now told to wait for the manager. Ricky the manager eventually appeared, and said he was “raising a case” After about half an hour, another assistant appeared with a pencilled case number. Numerous hours and phone calls to your centre, only to find that reference number I’d been given was wrong. Back to shop. With correct number, which is 18415643,and with a lot of resolution I became involved in your “pass him about” system. Eventually on 16th of December, I was told that they had admitted responsibility, and my car would be fixed. From then on, my car has been dealt with slowly, but professionally, and was returned to me yesterday, 1st March. My point is that at no time did anybody say sorry. The £20 voucher I returned and handed to the manager as derisory. Nobody said sorry! In future, apart from not using you myself, I will tell others not too. I will be interested, if, by using your information on my reference number, will you ever get back to me……..

Job number 1632711 I have joined the long growing list and have given Halfords one star. Why? Because you can’t give them zero stars. (Trustpilot maybe you can consider zero star) I bought tyres from Halfords and book the on-drive service for mid December 2022. The fitter arrived ok, fitted the tyres to the two rear wheels, handed back the locking nut key and off he went. Everything seemed fine until my MOT which was in early January 2023. The car failed because a wheel nut was missing. Since the MOT was up I had to go to BMW to buy a new set. Because it was the locking nut the fitter had lost I had to buy a new set. MOT passed, I thought it would be a simple job to ring Halfords and explain, get reimbursed for the money I had to pay out. No, not to be. I give them one star, not for the tyres, which you can buy at any tyre fitting establishment, but for the unprofessional after sales service. I rang customer service and someone said someone will contact me. I waited a week and no one did. So I rang again, this time the lady sent me an email asking me to send a copy of the invoice I paid out , so I sent a copy off. Again I waited a few weeks and no reply. I rang again and this time was given an email address and telephone number of someone who can help. I emailed and yes you can guess, no reply, I called the number and it cut you off about two seconds after the line opened. I rang costumer service again today, first attempt was to put me through to the “Hub”. This called ended by being cut off. Not deterred I tried again, this time kept on hold for 20 minutes and then cut off. This may be a strategy of Halfords, ignore them and they will go away. I must admit it works, so well done Halfords you may not be concerned about the safety of the vehicles after you fit tyres to them, and you may be unprofessional about your approach to customer service, but you know how to stop complaints from coming through. Don’t bother sending your copy and paste reply to this review. My advice to the reader is to go to the smaller independent tyre fitting companies, you will get better service. I have two more tyres for my car and two for my work van, I won’t be dealing with Halfords. I’ll keep the small back street professional unit I’ve used for years.

If i could give no stars i would! took car in for a squeaky noise coming from front passenger's side when i braked, i leave it with them to get told the next day i need a new battery because my battery is completely dead when prior to taking it in i no issues at all with it so when i asked if they'd left something on with could of drained the battery they started getting very defensive and saying its not their fault its because my battery is a bit old and kept repeating that to me to try and justify why its completely drained they even had to jump it so i could take my car and told me with an attitude that it probably wont start the next morning, i took it for a good drive after andvits worked fine since so they've basically lied to my face and tried to get me to buy a new battery when i didnt need one and i took it in for a squeaky brake pad that they tried telling they're not sure if it is the pad or the disk so they want fit new pads and new discs for 350+ without been confident it'll sort the problem safe to say I didnt pay i wont ever go back i gent to small independent garage and he said it was my left brake disc said my pads were fine and had plenty on them so just changed the discs for 200 all together including labour instead of 600+ report and quote i got from halfords on low road hunslet!!

Oban Service Centre. 24/2/23 Up on holiday in Ardfern from North Wales the car started to misfire. Rang Halfords in Oban and spoke to the Manager Alasdair who was very sympathetic but because the centre was so busy he couldn't do anything. However he managed to fit us in for the following day. Took the car there the following morning but during the 45 minute journey the engine warning light came on. When we got there the garage was very busy. We were asked by Stuart if we could leave it with them for a few hours for them to get the diagnostic kit on it as they were so busy. Stu was so helpful and he even gave us directions to a beautiful walk around the headland to take the dog to. When we returned Stu had checked through the possible faults and cancelled the warning light The car was running as normal. Both Alasdair and Stu were so helpful and I would recommend the Oban Service Centre because of how they fitted us in and for rectifying the fault all with a smile Thanks lads

### DO NOT USE WARRINGTON HAWLEYS LANE###Quick up date as per phone call to halfords head office 17.2.2023. My van was towed into halfords by the AA. I was told my van couldn't be fixed straight away so had to leave vehicle with them. Keys handed to Jack store manager. And told van would be kept in secure carpark.CCTV apparently failed. No damage to bodywork locks or windows my van emptied out of everything. My insurance approved lock box also opened and everything stolen. Please note the store wasn't broken into. Jack had my keys and the spare set are in a safe In my head office. I pointed out to Jack that this is extremely suspicious then he told me not to worry as halfords would replace my possession. Alan regional manager then informed me that my window had been smashed and replaced. I pointed out all my windows are still the original with main dealer etchings on them. I got clarification of this from vauxhall main dealership. Police still investigating this matter. Clear as day inside job. But halfords keep trying to fob me off because I haven't kept all my receipts. I have reported halfords to Rouge traders, the ombudsman, watchdog and I'm going to report this to the press. I was put on hold and then my call cut off and put through to an automated servant asking me how would I rate my experience with halfords. I would rate it -10. You should be able to trust staff and leave your possession in your vehicle this is not the case.##PLEASE DO NOT USE HAWLEYS LANE WARRINGTON THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU##. Shame on you halfords pay up.

Absolute thieves! Cameron especially is the reason I will never spend another pound at Halfords. I prepaid online a PDF flush. Took the car when I was supposed to and not only they didn't do the DPF flush but they charged me for one hour to do an OBD check!!! I am fuming! Wasted my time and money on something I never asked for and the customer support just repeated what the technician told them. Absolute thieves and I am going to chase this! Service not offered but paid for something I never asked for! Never ever again Halfords!

Avoid Bridgend Halfords autocentre. 20 miles from where I live. I booked my van in for replacement brake pads. I turned up at 8.55am as requested, I went to book my vehicle in and asked what time it would be ready, they said that it "might " be ready at the end of the day as they were short staffed but only if they're supplier had the correct parts ??? .When I explained that I was 20 miles from home and had nowhere to hang around for 9 1/2 hours with there being a chance that my vehicle might not be ready, they offered to do a free brake check and arrange for me to bring the vehicle back another day ??? I walked out , phoned customer complaints and was offered 10% off the cost of repair. Seeing as I have Brakes for life , they actually offered me 10% off something that's free??? The manager of Bridgend autocentre then phoned me to complain that I had complained about them ??? Area manager supposedly is looking into it but I've heard nothing !!!

##DO NOT USE WARRINGTON HAWLEYS LANE## update as per phone call 10.2.2023. When my van was at garage keys given to Jack store manager. CCTV failed everything robbed out of my van. No damage to bodywork locks, windows and my insurance approved lockbox opened and everything stolen without any damage. Jack then told me my window had been smashed and halfords had replaced it. I pointed out and got clarification off vauxhall that this was still the original window with main dealer etchings. So that was a lie. And I was still puzzled as to how my insurance lock box had been emptied. Jack assured me that i didnt need to worry as halfords would replace my possession. Alan regional manager was ment to be investigating it and getting back to me. All I got off Alan was the phone put down. I have asked for receipts for the window that's meant to have been replaced and how my lockbox has been emptied. No answer and phone call terminated. When on the phone yesterday the man on the call said he wasn't prepared to speak to me then ended the call. Each time you put a review up. Halfords say they are reaching out to you. No one has this is just to try and make it look like they care. And because I haven't kept all my receipts halfords are trying to fob me off. Warrington police are still investigating this matter. I've reported this to ombudsman, watchdog, Rouge traders and once all investigations are completed I'm going to the press. You should be able to leave your possession in your vehicle and them be safe. Or if you are a victim like me you would like to think halfords would do the right thing and replace your possession. Not the case. And all because I gave Jack my van keys. The other set are kept in my head office in a safe. The store wasn't broken into. Just my van and I use that term very losely. Be careful this could be you.

Having failed my m.o.t I got a quote for repairs - the cost for parts was £202-55. They are now owned by HALFORDS, and my mot says Halfords Autocentres. I checked Halfords on line price and it was £69-97. I also checked Europarts (whom I am led to believe they get their parts from) Europarts price was £109-98. I pointed this out to them, but wasn,t offered amended price. I didn,t feel the part they failed was bad, so went to another garage for mot and it was passed. I won't be going anywhere near National Tyres or Halfords any more, and will be making my friends etc. aware of my experience. I informed Halfords Autocentres on-line, but am afraid they didn,t/couldn,t explain why this was,in fact, they evaded the question entirely, this was the answer I got :- Please provide a screenshot or copy of the competitor quotation, please also stick to the price match guidelines or we cannot assist you further.

##DO NOT USE WARRINGTON HAWLEYS LANE##. Quick update from email yesterday off halfords 31,1,2022. Halfords will still not accept liability and replace my possession from my van as I haven't kept every single receipt. My van was broken into while in there garage. I use the term lovely as CCTV had failed no damage to locks, bodywork or windows. And my insurance approved lock box had everything stolen out of it with no damage. Halfords are trying there hardest to worm there way out of replacing my possession. You should be able to leave you vehicle in there care and not havd to worry about your possession been stolen. Pay up Halfords. Fortunately the police are still investigating this mater and C.A.B are helping me. Be very careful thus could happen to you. Your vehicle isn't safe.

DO NOT JOIN HALFORDS MOTORING CLUB!!! IT IS UNCANCELLABLE! It auto renews and charges monthly / annually and only allow you a small window of a matter of weeks to cancel your subscription for the whole year! When I challenged the call centre agent the first thing they said was "it was stated in the TnCs which you had to tick to say you've agreed to" various court rulings on this type of sneaky term enforcement, look up some case law: inconsistent terms and conditions - wherever TnCs are non standard (I.e giving ridiculous windows to cancel annual subscriptions) courts will rule any non standard conditions DO NOT APPLY!!! INFURIATES me when companies try to manipulate customers like this. They are fully aware a huge majority will want to cancel so make it unnecessarily difficult in the hope you'll forget and they'll bill you forever. Wasted 45 minutes of my life trying to cancel and it's still active. Go elsewhere people, I had an eye opening experience on my most recent visit to auto centre - charging dealer prices but giving gypsy garage service. Absolute swindlers!

##DO NOT USE WARRINGTON HAWLEYS LANE##. MY VAN WENT IN FOR REPAIR AND WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE TO LOCKS DOOR OR WINDOWS EVERYTHING OUT OF MY VAN HAS BEEN ROBBED. I HAVE AN INSURANCE APPROVED LOCK BOX THAT HAT BEEN OPENED AND ALL POWER TOOLS AND TOOLS STOLEN. I HAVE JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE TO HALFORDS CALL CENTRE AND APART FORM THE GENTLEMAN I HAVE JUST SPOKEN TO EVERY ONE HAS TRIED TO BRUSH IT UNDER THE CARPET. POLICE ARE STILL INVESTIGATING THIS MATTER. I WILL BE REOPRTING THIS TO THE FINANCIAL OMBUDSMAN,WATCHDOG,ROUGE TRADERS AND THE PRESS. DO NOT USE. YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE AND IF ANYTHING GETS ROBBED HALFORDS WILL TRY TO BRUSH IT UNDER THE CARPET. ROUGES. ####

My works van had broken down and I was towed in by the AA. I took out what tools I required. I was informed that my van would be kept in a secure compound. Allegedly the CCTV had failed and my van was systematically emptied front to back top to bottom of everything. No locks damaged no damage to bodywork. I questioned this and was informed that my window had been broken. I pointed out that all my windows are still the originals and have markings from main dealers on them. This is not the poor level of service that you require from such a large outfit. Do not use.

Awful service. Charged my student daughter, hundreds of pounds more for parts that literally cost £120-150. They charged her much more than that, even with the hourly rate on top, which for something that would have took them literally 1 hour. It’s a VW not a lambo! They certainly preyed on the nativity of a young woman…… She will never take it there again……..
