The process could've been smoother with the sending of the measuring kit. There was a delay with weather in Oregon but then it felt like my kit was still delayed due to other reasons. Most new homes (like mine) have textured paint and it can also be inside your window frames. I measured everything out but I still have little tiny gaps due to the texturing. Not indows problem but just be aware you made need to sand or fill in those gaps yourself to get a perfect seal. I did the acoustic grade inserts and they have reduced some noise but they will not completely block or significantly reduce road noise. This is most apparent with deep or lower frequencies like truck exhausts or modified street racing cars that are quite popular these days. Taking the inserts out to open your windows isn't an easy task. The little metal hook they provide needs to be either bigger or you can attach something to it as a way to leverage yourself. Overall the process was average. I think they're definitely a good option for weatherproofing and some sound reduction depending on the type of windows you have. I would purchase again.

The window fits perfectly and was easy enough to install by myself. It unfortunately does not reduce much noise, if any at all, from outside, that might be something for the more premium versions. I have noticed that it does help keep in warmth however which is nice.

We are sorry to hear that you are not receiving the noise reduction you were expecting. As you know, every sound situation is unique. As the noise reduction performance relies heavily on fit and placing, we would love to help troubleshoot these elements of your insert. We have great success in assisting people in this way and maximizing the noise reduction performance of their inserts. Looking forward to working with you on this issue.

I live in a house built in 1932 with original single-pane windows. The inserts look nice, and I'm glad they offer indoor protection to my almost 100-year-old windows. The sound reduction in the street-facing rooms has been moderate. I checked my energy bill statistics and did not see any benefits one month post-installation.

Jennifer, We are sorry to hear that your initial experience with your inserts has not been what you expected. First and foremost, we are here and willing to troubleshoot any fit or spacing issues needed to ensure optimization of the energy savings and noise reduction properties. We are sorry to hear that our measuring system (designed to take 5-15 minutes per window) required so much more of your time. Much the same regarding the installation, with installation or removal designed to take minutes, if not seconds for smaller windows. We understand these tasks also can include ancillary preparation time (moving desks, adjusting window treatments, etc.) and we recognize the effort. We also understand that it seems rather difficult to set time aside these days. We will continue to focus our efforts on providing an easy, accurate measurement system that produces effective, easy to install inserts that are custom fit to the customer's window areas. Regarding the temperature issue, the inserts have a solar heat gain coefficient (a unit of measure indicating blocked solar heat) of the extra pane in a double pane window. So, you would still need to use blinds or curtains to reduce solar heat gain more than that. The energy savings properties are best described in our case studies: https://indowwindows.com/resources/case-studies. We anticipate you will continue to experience energy savings through the next, and many seasons to come. Despite the character of the current reported experience, we certainly welcome such feedback. As stated, we will reach out to explore fit/placement troubleshooting and also go over installation/removal. We want to make sure to do everything to enable you to enjoy the comfort and quiet in the convenient way it is designed to be. While it appears this beginning experience did not go as you expected, we are here to ensure the remainder goes simply and smoothly.

I have not noticed that they helped at all. I bought the acoustic, great looking product, easy instructions excellent customer service. You can’t even tell they are on the window.

It could have been better if the pallet was collected after the delivery. Also the inserts are more beneficial for picture/fixed windows rather than open windows. The price of insert are expensive.

Called about price $1000.00 For 2 small windows asked about energy savings? They said no guarantees depending on location and almost other factors, why would I spend that money w no guarantees

Overall very easy process from ordering to install. Was just hoping that the sound dampening would have been a little better.

Cassie, Thanks for the feedback. We are happy to troubleshoot the fit and placement to ensure that you are maximizing the performance of the inserts. All sound situations are unique and sometimes require additional soundproofing methods in conjunction with our inserts to achieve the desired results.

The Indows seem to fit well, they do stop air leaks and they do dampen outdoor sounds. As far as room temperature control, though, I have to say I don't see a difference. Ours is an old house, the rooms were cold, and they're still cold. Our home insulation is likely so inadequate that it dwarfs the windows' contributions. This uncertainty is an important issue that the company ought to address somehow. Another obvious issue is that for large, double-hung windows, removal, storage and re-installation of the Indows is an awkward and time-consuming process, so that getting some fresh air in the room can become a chore.

James, Thanks for the feedback. We are happy to hear that your inserts are stopping air leaks and dampening sounds as designed. We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing a difference in home heating. From the info given, I would venture to say that more time will show the difference in home heating costs. It is a good point about lack of insulation in other aspects of the home. The inserts can only control the cold entering and exiting the home through those window areas. In conjunction with other insulation corrections, you would certainly see a greater difference. As to getting fresh air into the room, I might suggest a technique that other customers utilize, if feasible: The inserts can be dislodged and can hang in place on the safety chains for short periods. This allows the air to enter, while remaining stored nearly in place for convenience. This is not recommended for extended periods, as the pull of the chains can lead to slight deforming of the insert which sometimes can affect refitting. Anyway, thank you for the feedback. We are always willing to help with any issue or concern you may have.

Must less effective at sound reduction than advertised. Much less effective than previous brand I purchased (Soundproof Windows). Will not buy again.

Lynn, We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the noise reduction you had been looking for. Although our inserts have been independently proven to reduce sound at the levels advertised, due to the many factors in each unique sound environment, sometimes additional soundproofing methods are needed in conjunction with our inserts to achieve the desired results. As always, we are happy to troubleshoot the fit to ensure that your are maximizing the performance of the inserts in reducing sound coming through the window areas. Thanks again for your feedback.

Rusty, We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the difference you were expecting. We are happy to troubleshoot and will reach out in hopes that with some fit adjustments, we can maximize the sound reduction. All sound environments are different, so sometimes other soundproofing methods are required in conjunction with our inserts to achieve the desired effect.

We live near a busy street and the noise from cars passing by has been reduced but not as much as I would have hoped. For the price and time we had to wait, in my opinion, it’s not worth it.

Pearl, Thanks for the feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the sound reduction you had hoped for. While the independent studies support that our inserts are effective in reducing sound, each sound situation is unique with variables such as other construction materials in walls, etc. and sound frequency intervening. In some cases, additional soundproofing techniques must be used in conjunction with our inserts. Of course, we are happy to troubleshoot the placement and fit of your inserts to ensure that the potential sound reduction is maximized.

So we purchased an acoustic grade panel to help with tamping down the noise of nearby highway traffic. The insert has helped somewhat but not to the level we expected. We have already replaced one window facing the highway in an adjoining room with a Pella triple pane and that window does a better job than the Indow panel. Of course the cost is a lot more for the window as well versus the insert. We had hoped that the insert would be at least as good as the Pella window if not better and we were going to order some more. Now not sure.

David, Thanks for the feedback. We are sorry to hear that the inserts have not helped to the level that you expected. The Pella triple pane versus our insert used with an existing double pane is usually quite close in noise reduction performance, but all sound situations are unique. The results can vary due to the type and style of the existing window and the amount of space between the insert and the window. Also, other factors such as the frequency/direction of the sound and the other materials in your walls and ceiling can affect results. The fit of the insert (something we can certainly troubleshoot with you) can also be at play. We would love an opportunity to ensure the fit and placement of the inserts are providing optimal performance. We will reach out separately to discuss these options. Thanks again for the feedback.

I had 9 inserts made, with 3 going into one large window. Six work just fine. I found the corner fit, finish and material at the corners and pillar areas problematic for some inserts. One compression side piece split at the corner, one inside corner had separated, and the compression was not adequate to totally seal around the pillars top and bottom anchors. They all look very good in our windows.

Jeff, Thanks for reaching out. It appears that you may have some fit and possible condition issues with your inserts. Based on the info you here, the fit issues are covered by our SungFit guarantee and the condition issues would most likely be covered by our limited lifetime warranty. We are reaching out to you and will have our case coordinator work with you on both issues. We are happy to hear the other 6 inserts are working well and are certain that, with the help of our case coordinator, the other 3 will work as designed.

The Indow window inserts are nothing special. They provide a minimal amount of noise reduction but not nearly as much as I hoped for. They definitely aren’t worth the amount I paid for them.

Jerry, We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the sound reduction you had hoped for. We would love to work with you to ensure the inserts are fitting properly, as this may be the cause for diminished returns. While all sound situations are different and can present challenges beyond the sound entering through the window areas, we certainly want to make sure the performance of the inserts is maximized. We will reach out separately to start that support conversation.

The Indow inserts that we ordered did not work for us due to the delay in their delivery. In part because of the increase in neighborhood noise, we decided to sell our home. The inserts were delivered right in the middle of our efforts to show the house. We rushed to put them out of the way, but they were large and heavy, and they were damaged in that process. We ended up just calling a junk hauler to haul them away. We never found out whether they would work.

Thank you for your feedback. We’ve worked hard to bring down our lead times in the last few months, but it sounds like your order still didn’t reach you in time. This is the first we’re hearing regarding your change in moving plans, but we’d like to make up for the inconvenience the unscheduled delivery caused. Please reach out to us when you have a moment.

I bought the Indow window insert in hopes of reducing the volume of the neighbor's dog barking in my office when I was working. The sales person who I spoke with originally told me that he couldn't guarantee that the Indow window insert would help, but he said that he thought it might. I decided to go for it. Unfortunately, it does virtually nothing to reduce the volume of the dog barking or any other sound for that matter. In one sense, I can't hold this against the company because the sound is likely getting into my home through paths other than the window. However, I provide this review to warn anyone buying a window insert in order to reduce the volume that there is a strong possibility that it won't help. It's a lot of money to have spent on something that had virtually zero positive effect. Additionally, it seems to me that the price of these window inserts is high given their quality.

Brad, Thanks for the feedback. We are sorry to hear that you did not experience the sound reduction that you were expecting. We are happy to troubleshoot any fit issues that may contribute to the lessened performance. While our inserts have been proven through independent testing to reduce sound, all sound environments are indeed unique. It may very well be that the sound is entering the room through areas other than the window openings. As stated, we would love to continue to work with you to ensure you are getting the most out of the inserts.

The customer service was excellent. Can’t say enough great things on that front. I ordered two windows as a trial before ordering inserts for all of the upstairs windows. One window was a perfect fit, the second was not snug in one corner. Both were measured the same way. Snug fit or not, the inserts did not reduce the noise (train horns) by a noticeable level. To be fair it is an older house so the noise may very well be from poor insulation and there is nothing any amount of window inserts can do. I also already have double pain newish windows. All in all I think it could be great for some use cases but if you are looking to damp down noise, and you have double pain windows, I would try one or two inserts first.

Steve, Thank you for taking the time to leave the review. While we are very happy to be recognized for our customer service, we are sorry that you are not experiencing the sound reduction you were hoping for. We are happy to troubleshoot the fit as well as any other issues that may be interfering with the maximization of the sound reduction. While it is true that other factors such as insulation and wall materials can affect sound transmission in a room, we would want to ensure that we are doing everything we can to optimize the inserts. That way, you can proceed with any other soundproofing measures needed in an informed manner. It is also true that the sound reduction is not as dramatic with existing double pane windows as with single pane. Your advice about conducting a few trial windows is certainly good, as long as the test area does not have additional window openings that are left without inserts. Thanks again for the feedback.

The process for measuring, ordering and installing could not be simpler. Everything was well explained & easy to understand. There was excellent communication with the team at Indow Windows every step of the way. It was also clearly stated that there would be a small benefit to installing this product with double pane windows, which is what we did. And unfortunately for us, we did not see major advantages with the product. But noise aside, it helps insulate excellently. Superior service, great quality product, just our luck with minimal change to our noise situation.

Swati, Thanks for taking the time to submit a review. We appreciate the feedback. We especially appreciate the mentioning of the ease of measuring, ordering, and installing. We also appreciate you mentioning that our fit specialists had a conversation with you about the smaller expected noise reduction when using the inserts with double pane windows. We are sorry to hear that the noise reduction was not as substantial as you had hoped, but are glad you are satisfied with the insulating properties. Thanks again for your business and for engaging with us here.

The reason I'm not completely satisfied is because the demo video for soundproofing WAY over-promised on how effective it was. It was unrealistic of me to expect so much. Maybe it stops ordinary noise but I bought it to try and stop a barking dog, but it's no match for a barking dog. It did cut the barking by maybe half though, so it's something. It's probably helping with insulation too. Easy to setup. It did take 3 months to arrive though. Supply chain issues. The packaging is a LOT to dispose of and required the help of a friend. Had to bribe the delivery guy to help me carry it to my condo.

Joseph, Thanks for the review and the specific feedback. Of course, we do not intend to mislead anyone with our information/videos. We will certainly take another look to see if there is a more succinct and effective way to demonstrate the sound performance qualities. You are correct that sometimes sounds need additional soundproofing techniques to reduce specific frequencies or sounds. We are happy to hear it has reduced the barking by half. This is within the 50-70% estimates derived from the independent tests. We can also assure you that the inserts do provide good energy savings returns as well. While we are now beginning to see some positive signs, pandemic-related supply chain issues do conitnue to linger and we recognize the impact that has. We are working every day to assess and improve lead times in any way that we can. We also acknowledge that the packaging is considerable. While this protection is necessary for freight environments, we are continually looking for lighter, more effective ways to package and deliver our inserts. We appreciate the effort on our part to accomdoate the shipment. Thanks again for taking the time to provide a review.

Not the sound reduction I had hoped for from traffic. YOU should have a traffic noise video demonstrating how traffic noise would be reduced…that’s what I really needed…decibels are pretty pointless when you’re talking about noise. A sound demonstration would be more effective. Indows are quite pricey and your “no return policy “ screams buyer beware.

Thanks for the feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the traffic noise reduction you were expecting. While we have a SnugFit gurantee ensuring proper fit and a limited lifetime warranty covering manufacturing integrity, the many variables of each sound situation prevent us from offering a guarantee on sound reduction performance. Sound can enter through areas other than the window openings and construction materials in the walls, ceilings, etc. can necessitate the use of additional soundproofing methods in conjunction with our inserts. For this reason, our fit specialists work with customer pre-order to discuss the variablity of sound situations and are honest and transparent about the variability of sound performance. We truly value your engagement with us here. You valuable feedback provides us with the necessary information to continue in our mission of constant improvement. Thanks.
