“After ordering the long patch pocket coat in dark teal (Women's L) and THEN reading the reviews, I felt rather ill. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The coat arrived in about one day (super fast) and was really nicely wrapped (in a box, tissue paper, sturdy hanger, etc.). It is gorgeous! I'm tall so I was super happy that it was long and generously cut. Love it.”
“Wow! I am so thrilled with this jacket. Gorgeous! Perfect! Exactly as pictured and described in the catalog. It's the cute little jacket with the faux fur black shearling body and faux fur sable collar and cuffs. The fit is perfect. Very true to size. I have bought clothes from J. Peterman previously and have always been pleased with the quality and beauty of each item, but not excited like I am with this little coat.

“I have purchased three items from J Peterman. All the items fit well and were impeccable made. I can’t fault the clothing or the quality of the workmanship. That said, the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The items take a long time to arrive. As much as 4-6 weeks. Additionally, there appears to be no mechanism on their website to leave a review of an item or to see if an item is out of stock. There is no communication from the company when an item is sent or out for delivery. You have to just wait patiently and cross your fingers. This is a failure of the company not the clothing. If you are willing to wait the clothing is worth it.”
“Have purchased at least six dresses from J Peterman over the past few months. They're a little expensive, but the quality is very good. Hems and stitching are almost invisible, the patterns are matched so well. Sizing seems a little inconsistent, though. Also, the company charges for its outbound shipping plus a fee on returns even if the garment doesn't fit. I very much like the style and quality, but knocked off two stars for the combined effect of inconsistent sizing and a return fee. Hope to continue purchasing from J Peterman in the future.”
“Ordered a sweater, shirt and a jacket 09/2023. Products are quality, but slow customer service. I did not realize that the shirt only came in a small so I sent back for an exchange. After a very reasonable amount of time I never received updated information and finally requested a refund. Everything with this company takes way to long. Would not recommend.”

“It seems to me that J Peterman has gone downhill since the pandemic began two years ago. They don't have anything too interesting and the men's clothing line hasen't changed much, and is somewhat overpriced. I don't know whether the company is now lacking creativity or if this is due to a supply-chain shortage coupled with inflation?- but J Peterman sucks now. For instance, I have seen the same pair of shoes offered for sale for the last two or three years, while they have been put on sale numerous times. Yet, instead of Peterman coming up with something new, it's just the same old merchandise, and it's dull and boring.
What happened to men's clothing that had some pizazz, such as a silk dressing gown or an interesting retro-styled suit? Again, the past two years and it's the same old stuff. Peterman shouldn't be offering this weird indie clothing year after year, and expecting that nobody will notice.”
“Guideboat Company is part of the J. Peterman company. I purchased 2 items from Guideboat early last month - a penknife and a bandana with a delivery charge of $12.95. I was charged for the $7 bandana and full delivery charge $12.95, with the penknife back ordered. Just found out today that the penknife if not being restocked, so I've been charged $12.95 for the delivery of a $7 bandana. The company rep told me that the system does not update after each order, therefore I never would have heard from them about this had I not reached out to them first. There is no way I would order a $7 item and pay that much delivery charge. The customer support said they would reduce the delivery charge by $6, but that still does not take away the bad taste left in my mouth. So buyer beware! I also should say that my complaint is not about the person who helped me (who was polite and tried to help to his/her best ability), but rather the company system.”

Still NO RESPONSES TO ANY OF MY written inquiries. THIS CONTINUES TO BE A REALLY DISTURBING SITUATION. BEWARE! So sad😢”

“Placed an order for a Christmas gift that never arrived although I was charged. I received zero communication regarding the delay. I have called twice and was assured twice the order would be fulfilled. I am writing this on Easter and still have not received the product, update, or apology. This company had amazing products but unfortunately their claim to excellent customer service is inaccurate. It is the single worse shopping experience I have ever had. Save yourself the time and the headache of dealing with J. Peterman, they definitely are not the company they once were.”

“I am, or rather was, a long-time J. Peterman customer, particular for its Audrey Hepburn blouses. I ordered two on sale and — they never arrived. I kept getting a message that inventory was backed up. Finally, about THREE MONTHS later, I got a message saying they were out of stock and I’d be refunded my money, which I never saw in my account. I will never shop with them again. (Not to mention they are ridiculously overpriced.)”
