Ideally the turnaround should be improved or at least you should give an indication of how long it will take.”

“I had a problem receiving any confirmation email after having bought the subscription.
I called twice to speak to someone and to ask for confirmation to be resent or for at least some written acknowledgment.
The first time I called, one of the most unhelpful and unpleasant people I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to ,who clearly hates his job, answered the phone.
The second person I spoke to, a woman, was very friendly, however both said they would send me written confirmation of my purchase in the post and weeks later I am still waiting.
The subscription I bought was a Christmas present and in all honesty, I really wish I hadn't bothered but it's a bit late now to get anything else in place.”

“Having paid for the magazine using Direct Debit, next day I received an offer to have a gift if I subscribed via direct debit. I rang up to claim the gift and was told that because I had paid the offer was no longer valid, I believed this was not in the spirit of things and there was no mention in the small print either. Having already been called a 'women' in my mail, even though it was sent to me 'Mr' as a present for my wife I also believed the letter could have been better targeted. I complained, no joy, asked to speak to a manager, no joy, told I would get a call back, I did some hours later but was driving, missed the call. message said would ring back next day, nothing!! I will cancel the direct debit!!!!”
“Magazinesubscriptions.co.uk is an alternative way to renew my subscription, started at Greatmagazines.co.uk couple of years ago. Greatmagazines offers renewing a subscription, but it not works beyond UK. (Every year I tried to solve this problem via customer support, replied only templates.) Magazinesubscriptions allows to subscribe from abroad, as a new subscription, but not possible to choose the No. of issue. Last year received an issue twice.

“I am sorry to say that I will not be using magazine subscriptions again. I placed an order from the Christmas Page on the 12th Novembver for a Christmas gift only to receive an order confirmation to say that the 1st edition of the subscription would be despatched in 4 weeks. I then tried to ring to say that it was a christmas gift and didnt want the 1st edition to be despatched until Jan 2014. I was unable to get through to anyone who would help me for the next 2 weeks. Eventually at young man at Hearst Magazines said that he would get the 1st edition delivered to myself so that I could wrap and give as the gift and the next 11 issues would be delivered to my daughters boyfriend who the gift was for. I must say I havent received the 1st edition yet and dont hold out much hope that I will. I thought a magazine subscription to Esquire Magazine would be a great gift for my daughters boyfriend as I had previously brought a subscription last year to Cosmo for my daughter but using Magazine Subsriptions this time was a big mistake. Would not use them again.”
