AVOID AVOID AVOID AT ALL COST AVOID AVOID AVOID AT ALL COST Banking with them 20 years. Today they froze my account becouse I made a payment of £750 to my brother account and they decided its fraud. Bare in mind we have same surname. Call them, toldem thats not fraud its me sending my money to my brother account.Lots of intrusive questions, why, what for, my brother date of birth, insinuating that I may suport criminal activities, I gave them the reson they said they are not convinced as i could make it up. Is this for real ?? Whats wrong with this people? They froze my account cos Loren felt like it. What a dystopian world we live in? I will sort out legal advise and I am out off there. Discussing costumer service.

To start with, this organisation advertises itself as not having to look after shareholders. It doesn't need to make a profit, just a surplus (it makes a HUGE surplus). It claims to be here for its members. Why, then, did it close the Cookham branch, which had been open for many years and was the only 'bank' in the area? How did that serve its members? It offers puny interest rates whilst pretending to look after those who are long standing members (in my case +35 years) and there are a number of building societies who offer considerably more on sign up. To transfer money to new payers involves using a little plastic machine, which stops working after a few years. When applying for a new machine, one is told by this gracious organisation that it will be given free (expect it in 3 days) but future machines may be charged for. 8 days later, I'm still waiting. Thank you, Nationwide, for a lovely 30+ years, but there are other institutions which offer far more. Most of my money is now going to STARLING.

Disgraceful customer service and banking facility. If anyone still banks with these crooks I recommend you switch if you ever want to get any descent customer service and aid in times of need. Having fallen a victim to Coronavirus was worried about making loan repayments for the upcoming month as I was in self-isolation and on unpaid leave from work. Have always kept up with my loan payments and never missed anything for the past 3 years. Dont let the false advertisements on their website fool you, they try to come across as they are very helpful and that they will assist their customers during "challenging times", having called their "Triage" team and waited over 1 hour on hold, I pleaded with the rep to offer some help to overcome the situation am in, wether that will be 1 month payment holiday on the loan or an increase in overdraft / credit card limit to tie me over just for 1 month and the outcome was, they only offered to change the repayment date on the loan and move it back by upto 14 days like that is going to help!, they do this all year round , nothing new and certainley no additional help during this pandemic. These stingy crooks did not even consider freezing credit card or overdraft fees just for 1 month till i return to work. Lastly in the same week, i accidently transfered some money from my current account to my credit card (online via internet banking), I was meant to transfer it to my savings account but as you know its very easy to select the wrong account to transfer money to in the drop down menu. After realising my mistake, I found there is no option to transfer money back from your credit card to your current account. I gave customer support a call and got through to a guy called "Sachin" (sounded like a right chav) whom immediatly said "you been passed to me in the collections department, your balance is xx and you need to pay xx"... I thought what the hell is this guy on? No one passed me through, I called in and my query is not related to balance, I have already paid the monthly amount due on my card thanks!!, I then told him the reason for my call to which he replied to transfer money back from credit card to current account would take 5 days to process..... and as i questioned why so long, he replied, you made the mistake what do you want us to about it? As you can see, the customer service is shocking, rude, incompetent staff even at the highest level, you can not even get through to a manager or to the complaints team, instead they take your number and you'd be lucky to ever recieve a call back from the complaints department. This is the 21st century folks.....and Nationwide expects you to wait 5 days to get funds transfered from your nationwide current account to your nationwide credit card back, come on people, open your eyes. just check what other banks offer and you will be suprised at the level of care and service compared to Nationwide which is a sinking ship! By the way, I also had a loan with YB and Post office and having spoke to their financial care team, they both provided a month payment holiday to assist me during the crisis which has meant reduced income. I am ever grateful to these banks and the difference between customer care and support is night and day compared to the crooked Nationwide. I will ensure on my return to work that I change bank details with my employer to YB with the outlook of closing my bank account with Nationscum.

Horribly unfriendly/unprofessional customer service twice over and appalling telephone treatment of an elderly person. Felt I was being treated like a criminal. The experience shook me up raised my blood pressure and left me ( a normally well person) unsteady on my feet. It's unacceptable

This bank / building society has to be the worst ever for customer service. It’s standard rates are very unfriendly towards customers that have a buy to let Mortgage like myself. You would think they can do better in terms of the current financial climate. But no, this company care only about their money and nothing else, absolute greed and nothing else. Their customer service is totally shocking, I’d wished I’d never had a Mortgage with this bank, and wish to leave ASAP and to wash my hands clean of this company! With my situation they just do not care,(which is not surprising being the worst company in the UK), and do NOT offer full options, in which you would think they would do so in my situation. I hate this company, I wished I’d never had anything to do with this company, and one day I will not, and will never for the rest of my life!! I have serious concerns with this disgusting and useless company and am extremely dissatisfied. About four of my last calls have expressed signs of extreme and I mean extreme dissatisfaction and this has not been picked up!!! Totally shocking company, I hate this company, can’t wait to fully be disconnected from this company!!!!

Awful company to deal with. Have an existing mortgage with them and sought to borrow more to move house. They sent the wrong mortgage offer so many times and when you phone the mortgage helpline, you either wait in line for 30 mins and get cut off or once you do get through you get told something different each time. Three weeks of non stop calls and my offer has still not been amended. Words

Use to rate nationwide highly and recommend them. But I changed jobs, become self employed and now treated like a criminal. They gave me couple days notice froze my accounts kept my money and paid no direct debits as I'm paying cash into my account, recon I'm some sort of major drug dealer as I paid in £6000 over 5 months. Now just sitting on my account no answers after 7 days after I filled there forms in asking questions like who's eBay(asked 8 times) and my connection to them as to why I paid money to them. Totally do not care and when I said I want to complain I said ok they ring me back within 5 days. Day 6 no call. Just told to wait while they review. But nothing happens. Shocking bunch of arrogant fools. I understand they have a duty to check for drug money ect but there so s###e at there job they could not catch a cold.

Had a high wind 70MPH Roof Damage. Called my Nationwide Agent. Was switched to a claim's agent in another state. Too busy for a Nationwide field agent to come out and sent a contracted agent Hancock. I refused them cause their reputation of low to no offer. Then they sent out Seek Now, another contract insurance claim field service. His report offered $735, and I have a $1000 deductible. So be wary, Nationwide contracts everything out to Third Party Vendors and is " Not On Your Side ". Very disappointed in the way they are totally hands off. Looking for another Homeowners Insurance Co.

Switch process to Nationwide has been the most horrendous experience costing me time, money and sending my blood pressure through the roof. Nothing in the process happened as it should,,I had no idea what was going on and virtually impossible to speak to anyone. Even CO hadn't the grace to offer an apology when contact made by email out of sheer frustration. Will move as soon as possible

After trying for months to get a refund from my travel agent regarding Covid pandemic cancelled flights, I was advised to try section 75 as I had paid by Nationwide credit card. What a waste of my time and effort.I filled out on line forms and providing photo evidence of flight e tickets and travel agent apology letter. After 8 weeks I received a letter from Nationwide who required me to provide evidence of the cancelled flight! The fact that in June there were no flights anywhere this seemed to be a ridiculous request.Take my advice, don’t count on Nationwide to get you your money back.

The only words I have for this bank are that they are one big joke. Money disappears from your bank and doesn’t show on statement where it’s gone, then appears back in there. I had a poxy £20 compensation which took over a month to appear in my account after using my bank card resulted in the bank taking card payments of £80 twice out of my account. In short I had spent £80 and they thought it would be okay to double it. You can imagine my anger with a trolley full of shopping to feed my 1 year old child when I got to the till. The customer service is a joke, in their opinion the customer is never right and everything is a no and too much to ask. I will be closing my account after payments are cleared and certainly won’t be making a savings account with my child with them as god knows how much of my big inheritance they took. Hope this bank is shut down to be honest. Clearly failing as it is to be taking money out of a single mums account with a low income. Scum

My daughters current account has been frozen due to a scammer claiming she didn’t sell him tickets and she clearly proved all the evidence she did and he also went to concert . Fraud team said they would update her on 27/11 , they removed the money out of her bank account. That date has gone past and they have not contacted her and now when we phoned the bank it has been extended to 30 December with no explanation, she can only lift cash but everything else is frozen. Customer service and fraud time have not updated her or even returned her calls. Awful bank , if it is ever resolved her account will be moved to another bank. Avoid setting up an account in Natiowide… .

Your customer representatives need lessons in dealing with people with mental health disabilities. Telling someone with anxiety to call when they can’t and insisting it’s the only way you’ll deal with the issue is not helpful. Sarah Thompson should not be in you complaints department. Telling someone recently tragically bereaved that she “appreciates how difficult things are for me” is really not an acceptable thing to say. You have no idea. On the back of this appalling service I have today opened an account with First Direct and will be starting to transfer my affairs over to them. No loyalty to me, no loyalty to you.
