I wish I would have read other reviews before doing their deceptive "$1 Free Trial". I was signed up for a recurring "subscription", without my consent. I had not even created an account on their website, but they saved my credit card information and sent me an "order confirmation" about a month later for my "refill" of 3 deodorants. I emailed back less than 4 hours later, to request that the order be cancelled because I never signed up for a subscription. I was told that the order cannot be stopped once it is in process, but I was welcome to return the order for a refund, and pay the return shipping at my own expense. Two days after the order confirmation, I got a shipping notification. SO WHY COULDN'T THE ORDER BE STOPPED BEFORE IT WAS SHIPPED?!? This company is intentionally deceptive. There is so much information on their "product description", that is super unclear, and obviously a lot of people are having this same problem. Even the order confirmation email for my original $1 Free Trial product did not state ANYWHERE that I was being signed up for a subscription. I was told that I would need to create an account on their website in order to "cancel my subscription". This is soooo shady! Why would I have a subscription with you if I have never even created an account?! I don't want an account on your website, but I HAVE to create one just to cancel my subscription that I never signed up for! I am all for natural products and eco-friendly practices, and I am not a person to leave bad reviews, but this company is scamming people and that really sucks. To top it off, I didn't even like the deodorant. I have been using natural deodorants for years, and this one did not work for me. Also, the cardboard tube is a great plastic reducer, but it was impossible to push up. I would not have taken the time to leave a bad review for that, but the shady/scammy business practices force me to. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY WANT A SUBSCRIPTION!

If I could give zero stars, I would! PLEASE don't buy from this company. It is a horrible scam. Their website is intentionally deceiving, and they sign you up for subscriptions without your consent. I am infuriated!

terrible, TERRIBLE SCAM OF A COMPANY. They signed me up for a subscription I never made an account for and decided to send me 3 deodorants I never ordered, wanted, or needed. It's TERRIBLE to do this to people in the midst of a global pandemic that's impacting people's financial situations. Now I have to try and dispute a charge for $30 worth of deodorant. Absolutely awful company.

I got a deodorant and then weeks later received an email about a subscription. I tried to log in but couldn’t remember a password so I asked to reset it. Never got that email a day later I was charged $30 for a package so I emailed their help team and was told I needed to create an account (I’d never had one to begin with apparently). So I cancelled the subscription and then emailed to cancel the order but was then told that it had already processed so I needed to wait until it arrived (it hadn’t shipped yet) and then pay out of pocket to ship it back to them before I could get a refund.

Don't bother! Total scam. They send you decent products but automatically subscribe you for far more expensive products and the website is NOT user friendly. I couldn't get my password to work so I couldn't log on to cancel and it took several tries to actually reach someone who would cancel my subscription for me. Scammmy Scam Scam!

I never placed an order with this company and I tried explaining that to them but they didn't care.

Not worth your time or money!!! This company is awful in every aspect from shipping to customer service to the product itself. Conditioner bars are stiff and crumble but feels like rubbing glue dots in my hair that dont condition and instead just stick. the deodorant is impossible to push up and is so lumpy that it feels like rubbing your pits with sand paper. this company chooses to ignore requests for a refund instead of actually adhering to their policy. Shampoo feels like it is damaging my hair. Please continue your search for low waste alternatives elseware with a more reputable company.

It's a scam. I just got charged $30.80 for a $1 sample. READ OTHER REVIEWS who all had the same type of thing happen them! It's sad business is run this way by some companies like this one.

first of all they are opaque and vaguely scammy! i only wanted a sample not a recurring subscription!! I didn't know it was a subscription until i got an email saying my "order" was on the way. I didn't set up an account but when I tried to so i could cancel this subscription nonsense their less than user-friendly website helpfully told me that an account was already using my email, but none of my standard throwaway passwords worked! also, I tried to reset the password but to no avail. no reset email has arrived and now the 'super-helpful' website is saying I tried that too many times. also: also, literally every time I try to log in or reset the password or create an account their stupid reCaptcha thing demand I identify some stop signs for their computer algorithms, literally seconds after I had just finished doing so for them. as for their products, I've only used them once and can't say anything positive or negative. but in what insane world do I need a monthly subscription for bar shampoo and conditioner?!? I don't blow through that much regular liquid shampoo or conditioner in a month and I have a freakish amount of hair…sooo how is any of this environmentally conscientious let alone "friendly" also i am honestly more than a little disappointed in pela case for associating with this mess

I took advantage of the samples they were selling off of the Pela case website, so automatically this signed me up for a subscription. Since I hadn't created an account with them, I figured that I didn't have a subscription with them, and I had just made a one-time purchase. They notified me that my subscription was about to be renewed... what subscription? I try to login, and realized that I didn't have an account with them. So I figured that this notification of my renewal was their way of trying to get me to sign up for a subscription. Yesterday, I received a confirmation for an order of 3 deodorants, 3 shampoo bars, and 3 conditioners for a total of $91.80! I email them and they tell me that they cannot refund me because the order has been confirmed, even though I had no way of knowing this was coming, because I didn't have an account with them. The order has not shipped out yet, and they still cannot cancel the order. Now they tell me that I have to pay ship it back to them and they will refund my order. So to cancel my subscription, I had to create an account with them - confusing, right? This company is a mess. Great idea, but very poorly executed. Would not recommend getting involved. Don't take the bait on the samples!

Geez this company is a mess. First, when you go to their website it is not easily intuitive to figure out how to login to your customer account. I, like others below me, got swindled into the monthly charge after purchasing the $1 promotion item. However, I had planned on canceling because I knew it would subscribe me. I forgot and that's on me, but my big issue is the fact that my bundle that was sent to me was three more deoderants of the same scent. Why would I want a total of four of the same mediocre deodorant? The process involving these boxes is dumb and not customer friendly. It auto-renewed to three deodorants when the pictures on the website make it look like they send you a variety of products in packages. Again, who in the world wants four vanilla deodorants? The website says customers can log in and change what comes in the packages but why wouldn't you ask the customer what they want at least in their first bundle instead of weirdly sending again 3 vanilla deodorants? Do you care what your customers want at all? This does feel like a scam to me as well.

Do not buy from this company, they are scamming you by signing you up for a subscription without your permission and charging your credit card monthly. I don’t even know how I could sign up if I hadn’t previously made an account! Trying to email them afterwards was a disaster because they keep sending automated emails and fail to address your questions. They do not even have a phone number! There are many good alternatives to these products that I’m sure you’ll find does not come with a surprise monthly subscription.

I bought a phone case from PELA and was super excited about it. During check out there was an option for $1 bar of soap so I clicked yes. Then a month later I was charged for a shipment from Habitat Botanicals without ever setting up an account. They won’t refund me and I had to set up an account in order to cancel an account that I hadn’t even set up yet. This is wildly misleading to the customer and I would never buy from them again. Too bad because the phone case from PELA is great.

I wish I could give this company Zero stars but that’s not an option so I had to give them 1 just to write this review! DO NOT order anything from this company!! They are super dishonest and sign you up for a subscription after you order a sample product! They do not tell you they are keeping your credit card on file and they will be Charging you every month for a subscription box you didn’t even order. And what’s funny is you have to sign up for an account to even cancel this hidden subscription!!!! HOW DO YOU SUBSCRIBE TO SOMETHING YOU DIDN’T EVEN MAKE AN ACCOUNT FOR?? Then when you reach out to customer service they turn it around on you like it’s super clear which it’s CLEARLY not!!!! Then they want YOU to pay for shipping the product back!!!!!! They are so unprofessional and said of course you signed up for a subscription it’s not like we are giving products away for free!!!! Literally do not order from these people or you will be scammed out of your money as well! I will be disputing the charge with my bank and contacting the BBB.

this is a scam, not because of it's products, but because they are dishonest. You will buy your phone cases on pela and at checkout you will be tempted with a "free trial" of vegan/natural products from habitat botanicals, once you choose your $1 gift they will not tell you that you now have a subscription for them each month, and that you will need to create an account to delete the subscription, and they do not tell you that the $1 will turn into $10.30 if you fail to send back their product and pay for shipping on your own. Their emails are automated with the same message because they encounter this problem very often. It is such a shame because they could probably sell their products without the shady business practices.

I had such high hopes for Habitat Botanicals. They upsold me into buying a couple months worth of their products back in April or so. A month and a half later, they finally emailed me that my package was sent out. Never received it. I contacted customer service who put in another order and promised it would be a priority. Another few weeks and nothing. I had to contact customer service again and then they finally sent it, only to be missing products. Every time I've contacted customer service, they will answer the question, but do nothing to retain you as a customer. With as many poor reviews lately, why not go the extra mile and try to keep customers? Also, the products I received looked NOTHING like the pictures other people have posted or what was online.

The same story as many described below, I bought a trial package for $9. After one month I was notified that the second package was shipped and I was charged $43. The support was useless. I had to create an account to cancel the subscription that I never subscribed to. The support told me that they will issue a refund when I will send the package back for my own expense. I opened a dispute with the credit card, they froze the funds while investigation proceeding, and after 2 days the credit card was happy to get my money back. Dishonest business is not appreciated.

I was signed up automatically to receive more products, after one purchase. I could not find where to cancel. The products were sent without letting my know or agree to them. I had to pay return shipping, and get help to cancel the "subscription"

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I was led to believe that I was receiving a "$1 product with free shipping" with the purchase of my Pela phone case. I was signed up for a $30 monthly subscription box without creating an account and when I reached out about a refund I was told I would have to pay to ship the product box before I received a refund. They wouldn't cancel the order or refund me for the box I never ordered.

Extremely disappointed with how they do business. I ordered their free trial, which did take a while to get here, but that's fine. I might've even ordered from them again because they did seem to be a good company. But no, they decided to charge my account for a "subscription" I didn't sign up for. Not cool. Clearly this happens often enough that they have an automated email set up for cases exactly like this, which really only worsens the situation.
