Stay clear of this company; they sent my dad a bill for £10,500, he's 72 and house bound. Explained to them it wasn't him and that i work in finance services. After getting no where, called them told them i as reporting them to the FOS, still fell on deaf ears. They are now £11,500 out of pocket because they let unchecked fraud be committed and the FOS ruled in my favour. The card was taken out in Oct 22 they let the debt run up without even a minimum payment until Jan 23 and apparently "thats how John lewis do it" thankfully i work in financial services and know the system. Shut this company down, limited checks carried out then credit is applied for and a sub prime lender.

Almost a thousand pounds of purchases on my John Lewis Newday card which I never approved. Fraud reporting can only be done in limited hours. Not 24/7 like other credit card providers. Long and convulated process to talk to a person. Promised action would be taken but no follow up response or any other information provided. Will have to waste yet more time chasing this up. DO NOT USE NEWDAY! I Still have the fraudulent purchases sitting on my credit card balance!

I would advise anyone to stay away from any newday credit cards. Marbles credit card dud nothing for over 4 months wgen I received a wheelchair from amazon what was not fit for purpose. Also fluid credit card scam you. Another newday member . Change oaynent dates. Lie on the minimum payment. Even paying over the tge top. Ballance never goes down. Iv vkeared both. Yet its hoping to take 90 days to fully clear the account. After paying off both. And again paying more interest. Even though iv not used either card. I'm sure they'll try to scam me for further interest. STAY WELL AWAY FROM ALL NEWDAY CREDIT.

If I can give "0" that would be the true rating for this provider. It is simply awful, with no customer service and no explanation on why the credit limit can't be increased, despite having a JL credit card for over 10 years (by HSBC) and a 10 times higher limit compared to what Newday offered. I am so disappointed that JL decided to associate with such an awful organization.

I have credit with AO.com. Made one purchase about 6months ago. Now I wished to pay everything off. I went online to look at account and made a large payment, enough to cover the costs according to them. Online. I called the next day to make sure it had been credited to account and to advise to close account when it does. No, apparently i need to wait to pay interest on the next x2 statements. Asked for a final settlement figure to clear everything. No we can’t do that. Never in my days have I ever heard of a finance company that will not do this. Instead of allowing me to give them the money now (start of october) i need to keep paying interest until end of november. Possibly december too. Asked to speak to resolution team. The man got cross with me and started aggressively telling me no matter who I speak to they will never give a final settlement figure and i will be required to pay continue paying interest despite me paying the large sum already that in his words, has cleared the bill in full for that month. I will be paying interest on the large sum on that bill for next x2 statements. Avoid like the plague. I recommend Curry’s for finace. They’re open/ honest and clear cut unlike these loan sharks.

I have New Day credit card as New Day took charge of the John Lewis Partnership credit card from HSBC. Using the card has been disastrous! My account has been suspended and transactions declined three times in as many weeks due to a New Day staff member ticking the wrong box. Added to that New Day have made mistakes which they have tried to cover up. Suspending the credit card erroneously has That been highly inconvenient as I use the credit card to accumulate points at Waitrose and John Lewis. John Lewis say the onus is on New Day to sort out. It has got to the stage now where I am looking around for a different cash back credit card as New Day cannot be relied upon for managing my account properly. I pay my credit card bill off in full each month.

Hello I was scammed by a hotel company which pretended online to be the hotel I thought I was booking. I rang the hotel about another matter and they told me I was booked with them with Booking. Com . I had not booked with Booking . Com I tried speaking to various agents and sent emails which are now being totally ignored. I too had a good relationship when John Lewis was my card provider. I assumed that the act 75 gave me protection against being scammed and if a 3rd party became involved with cashing in on my booking and using a cheaper company that there is a cash back system to help the scammed person. I spoke to my bank Natwest and they agreed something should be done and all credit card providers can use their discretion to help their customers . Unfortunately New Day has no empathy and shows no support for the victim. I am so very disappointed and disgusted with their lack of service. No wonder scammers get away with so much. Diane Ludeman

We only came to NewDay as a result of John Lewis changing the provider of their eponymous credit card. Prior to the change late last year we had enjoyed several decades of convenient and stress-free credit card usage. And then it all went wrong. Our card(s) we suspended several times for 'suspected fraud' (nothing was ever found) and my wife and I (a joint account) regularly had trouble making payments, 'card declined', especially online. And then NewDay removed from my card the ability to verify online purchases via a one-time code: I was told I could only do so with their app. We made many complaints about the service - more in the last 9 months with this company than in the previous 35 years with the 'old' JL card provider. And complaints take 8 weeks to reach a conclusion/decision. I have now made alternative credit card arrangements. PLEASE think very carefully before using this provider: the level of customer service is unbelievably low.

VERY LOW CREDIT LIMIT AND DESPITE HAVING PREVIOUS JL CREDIT CARD FOR MANY YEARS THEY WILL NOT INCREASE LIMIT WITH NO EXPLANATION OF WHY. WE HAVE A VERY HIGH CREDIT RATING AND HAVE NO PROBLEM INCREASING LIMIT WITH ANY OTHER CARD COMPANY. I AM VERY SURPRISED JL HAVE LINKED WITH SUCH A POOR COMPANY. DUE TO LOW LIMIT WE ARE UNABLE TO USE THE CARD AS MUCH AS WE WOULD LIKE AND THIS DOES DO JL IMAGE ANY GOOD.

I received my new NewDay card sometime in November 2022, within two weeks I suddenly receive a bill for £4,485.79 when I asked them what this was they simply said I have to pay £450 a month. This has been taken to the head of NewDay, Financial Ombudsman John Lewis Partnership Card and HSBC even though the head apologesed and reimbursed me £90 NewDay decided to get Moorcroft Dept Recovery. Infact I never used the card in the said weeks so how did I spent this large amount of money. Someone must be a full time crook to even get away with this crime. I don't know what to do when dept collectors are involved. It's obvious they don't fear the Financial Ombudsman conduct.

I cannot understand how Sharon White the chairman of John lewis Partners allowed the company to be taken over by a silly named credit card company that cannot do straigthtforward requests like "close the account". The horror stories I have read below on trust pilot make me realise that the credit card company is in jeopardy of being folded all of its own making. It really brings John lewis down in customer service. Shame.

Interest free credit means interest free . Can’t get hold of them the auto voice kept putting you back to the start . I made a purchase in j Lewis it was interest free but was being charged interest. They looked at j Lewis and checked it was so . but they blamed j Lewis said it was their fault . Didn’t offer to do anything I’ve put in a complaint to new day and j Lewis who said I’d be refunded the interest back . But as yet nothing how many others have had the same thing sneaky way of making money out of customers if you ask me . They also say they have nothing to do with John Lewis even though the statement are from John Lewis !!!

I tried for two hours to navigate their labyrinthine website to unblock my PIN number which they arbitrarily blocked, though my card remained active on-line. I was simply presented with a deluge of FAQ’s on unrelated subjects which were of no help whatsoever. The 'chat-line' failed to load. Four separate phone calls, all I got was a condescendingly soothing, automated voice which drivelled on for minutes telling me things I didn’t want to know and asking me questions to which it couldn’t understand my answers, like my date of birth which I gave very clearly in exactly the format asked for. At no point was I given an option to speak to a PERSON who could help me with unblocking my PIN. I decided to open a new credit card with a different company. Extremely disappointed with John Lewis for introducing their new credit card with NewDay. The whole process of transferring/opening a new JL card last October was a complete nightmare in itself. It should have been a seamless transfer as performed by every other financial organisation when a transfer is initiated by them.

I have a credit balance of nearly £1,200 with Newday and they will not send me the money. My account is closed so I can't spend the balance. They said they would send it to me in 7 days and on the account it says it was refunded on 23 March. When it didn't arrive I called and they said it takes 7 working days. When it didn't arrive I called and they said it takes 12 working days, which would be Thursday, 6 April, one day after the limit to invest it in an ISA. When it didn't arrive on Thursday, they said to them 12 working days is Friday the 7th (Good Friday, which is not a working day). It has still not arrived. When I asked why it takes so long to move money, when it can be done in seconds, they say it is because of the large amount -- so who says the larger the amount they owe me the longer they can take to pay me back? While the money was showing in my account, they added interest, but when they (supposedly) paid it off on 23 March, it was without interest. It is now 8th of April and I have no idea when I will ever see my money. Perhaps the next time they will say that it takes 50 working days (or 100 or 1000). John Lewis have lost the trust of their customers. How will this tragedy play out?
