Hello Andrew Thanks for taking the time to write this review and sharing your thoughts! So pleased that your dog is enjoying our food. 1kg boxes are something that we are looking into . It is on the agenda with production and packing. Much Kindness Debs and Poppy

Excellent quality food, (although I haven’t tried it myself..), my dogs really enjoy it. I usually get the meat and lamb varieties, it’s good, solid meat that doesn’t go mushy when it’s defrosted. My only worry is that when it arrives here (having been packed the night before) is that the top few in the box are starting to defrost and this does concern me. Every time I’ve had to ring, the people on the other end have been exceptionally helpful and friendly. Thank you! Jan KEHOE

Hi Jan Amazing! We are so pleased to hear that you and your dogs love our food. As previously discussed on the phone - ( I love hearing how you are all getting on) Our boxes are designed to keep your food cold in transit and if it arrives cold (but not frozen) it can go straight in the freezer. Thanks Jan for this lovely 5* review. Much Kindness Debs and Poppy

I would prefer bigger boxes than 450g.

Hi Lydia Thanks for the feedback, it's really appreciated . It's good to know to what our customers would prefer. A larger box/packet is something that we are hoping to explore in our next phase of growth. Much Kindness Debs and Poppy

Hello Kyoko and little puppy Thank you for letting us know. So pleased your puppy is loving our food - but not the chicken meatballs. It's worth trying them again at a later date. Thank you for the lovely review too! Much Kindness Debs and Poppy

Dinners are Brill and as described. I do supplement with raw meals of my own as it is expensive to feed a 25 kg dog exclusively on poppy's picnic. I have mentioned packaging previously. We have had frozen deliveries of meat for us humans on a sort of enforced cardboard, would there be problems for you doing the same. It gives me peace of mind to know that a proportion of my poppy's diet has been carefully thought out by people who know what they are doing!!!

Hi Val Thank you for the lovely review. So pleased to hear that Poppy's Picnic is a winner with your dog. We are aware of our packaging and are currently working with our suppliers to change from the polystyrene. Much Kindness Debs and Poppy

The meatballs have gone down a treat, but the mince not so much, I am going to persevere with the mince as I have several more in the freezer.

Hi Yvonne As pleased as Punch that the food is a hit with your beautiful dog. Meatballs are handy and convenient. The mince is exactly the same product. You could ( once defrosted) just roll the mince into a ball! Your dog will never know. Thanks for the review Debs and Poppy

Pooch loves his raw diet and it solved a number of issues for us. Poppy's picnic is great and the meatballs are just the right size and make it easier to measure his food out. I just wish they did the meatballs in more flavours ! Delivery was very quick and I knew when to expect it so I could make sure I had freezer space ready.

Hi There! Thanks for writing this lovely review. So pleased that the meatballs have solved a lot of issues and are being enjoyed. Thanks for mentioning that the meatballs would be great in other flavours. We agree and this is something our Production Team are looking into later this year. Much kindness Debs and Poppy

Food is of good quality but it is expensive compared to other raw feed companies. There is a good range of mince complete meals. There needs to be more options with out the veg though. Reduce the cost to compare with other companies and I think you would find you get more customers. It’s the cost that is stopping us from moving over completely.

Packaging was all great, although I had to google whether the packaging was recyclable as it didn't have the usual symbol on it. Food had great texture when defrosted, and was easy to handle. Dogs loved it. The most expensive I have tried yet, I am currently ordering from all premium brands to try them all out, and so far apart from the cost, it is the best so far.

Hello Rebecca Thank you for the lovely review. Packaging - we agree ,it isn't the best but this all about to change. We have been trialling a new sustainable fibre tray that will reduce our plastic use by over 90%. Not long now. We are pleased that - so far we are proving to be your brand of choice. Please let us know if we can help you further. Much kindness Debs and Poppy

Due to my doggies both being the hardest dogs to feed I’m on a journey this year to try to find something they Like and actually eat it! I’ve tried all the tricks, and have improved considerably with one. Butternut but not enough to be satisfied, So I’m trying raw food. My elder dog has been fab but the 1 yr old isn’t so easy. Just like his dad used to be! a few mouthfuls one night then stops or smells and backs away. Hand feeding works but won’t do continuously. However it’s the best start so far compared to others. Still too early to say.

Merlin and Guinever have always eaten raw starting with other brands for the first year then cooking and pressure cooking for over a year eventually we came back to raw and poppies picnic for the last 4 years. Guinevere and Merlin had puppies and we weaned them on raw with advice from Dylan. I am so so glad Dylan fund raised through the internet and we became share holders and feel part of a great team. Long live poppies picnic and can’t wait for the biggest share holders summer meeting in his back garden with all the doggies. Many woofs all the Alexander’s

Hello Lindsay That's great to hear. All that lovely fresh food going into their little tummies. It sounds a little bit like Hound Quarters at feeding time. Thanks for the lovely review. Much Kindness Debs and Poppy

Product is excellent, and always arrives fully frozen as promised. It gets delivered on time, and at home or at our holiday caravan when we are on holiday. But these are only words from a human. Our Cockapoo, Bailey, has the only option that counts. He relishes his raw food, and devours it with glee. When meal time comes, he lets us know what time it is as if not to let us forget. He never did this with his kibble, and he only ate it under sufferance. Can’t recommend Poppy,s Picnic enough, and neither can our Bailey.

Jessie loves the food and I love the service but you really need to address the amount of plastic you’re using John Gray

Hi John & Jess We are so glad that Jess is loving the food and you find the service good too. This makes us happy and puts a smile on our faces. You are absolutely correct about the plastic. It has taken us a while to find a fully biodegradable tray that doesn't leak and looks good too. Our new packaging is now ready and will replace our old black trays very soon. You will be thrilled when you see them too! Please hang on in there for a little while longer. Much Kindness Debs and poppy

On the plus side, Poppy's Picnic provides a no fuss ordering process, prompt delivery, and leak proof packaging. Taste and texture wise, my dog, who's particular about a few things, rates the food. However, Poppy's Picnic is very expensive. Food in this price bracket is usually Free Range, Organic or Wild. The meats used in Poppy's Picnic are none of these things. To be fair, the macronutrient balance of the meals looks fairly good. Too many companies use cheap, fatty cuts at the expense of protein. Others drop their production costs by using formulations that are high in green tripe. Poppy's Picnic is not one of those companies. Despite having people with Nutritional knowledge on board, the meals do not comply with minimum nutritional standards, set by FEDIAF, which, set the bar quite low. I do recognise that unlike many companies who produce raw pet food for the UK market, Poppy's Picnic do not mislead customers by labelling their food 'Complete and Balanced,' or worse 'Nutritionally Balanced.' This is in their favour. They've got a good product, that could be great if it was formulated to be nutritionally complete.
