Customer beware! If you have a claim, you (the customer)will be fronting all repair costs. Then you get to go through the painstaking process of gathering the required documentation and dealing with the rental car agency on your own. Good luck, you're going to need it!

Hello Darren, Thank you for your feedback. We've had a quick look to your claim which was submitted online on 21/Apr/2019 further to your rental completed on 3/Apr/2019. After our Claims Team reviewed your submission, they sent you the 1st email asking for the missing document in order to finalise your claim assessment on 23/Apr/2019. 2nd email for the same sent on 25/Apr/2019. Your acknowledgement also received on the same day that you're seeking the required document with your rental company. Your email with the extra document was received today 10/May/2019 about 6 hours ago. As our insurance work in Paid and Claim basis, customers have to provide the required documentation in order for the claim being assessed smoothly. Customers do have the right to request all these with their rental company as they are directly dealing with the rental company. But in contrast, very often when we request with the rental company on customer behalf will be rejected due to customer data privacy. Thank you again for your feedback and our claims team will get back to regarding your claim accordingly, thanks. Regards, The RentalCover.com Team

They are a true scam. I bought full coverage with them for a rental car in Portugal, as a consequence I did not pay for zero deductible at the car rental company desk. Unfortunately I had an accident with the vehicle, which led me to pay the full deductible of €1500. I Immediately contacted RentalCover for reimbursement of this value. After they asked for all the documents about the rental and the accident including the receipt of the deductible I paid, they then said they could not reimburse me without seeing the invoice for the repairs done to the vehicle! Of course I didn't have that invoice! this is internal business of the rental car company. In summary, if you buy insurance from rentalcover, you are throwing your money away. To me they are frauding customers.

What a nightmare. Buyer beware, your car rental company may not accept this insurance and you'll end up having to pay double at the counter. There is no real customer service either. DO NOT BUY!

Took out a policy in August 2019 to cover a vehicle rental as I was concerned about the number of exemptions in the hire company's rental agreement. I felt reassured that rentalcover.com's policy had very few exemptions. Unfortunately we were involved in life-threatening accident which led to the car being written off. Rentalcover.com's policy covered us up to $100,000 so we were initially relieved we had purchased additional insurance and their policy clearly covered our claim. This relief was short-lived. Rentalcover's communication was absolutely appalling. They took weeks to reply to emails. There was no contact number and they refused to provide one. They refused to speak directly with the hire company regarding the claim. They showed zero compassion or empathy. After 4 months they refused to pay the claim then proceeded to ignore us when the hire company started pursuing legal action against us. They essentially left us to fend for ourselves against the hire company because this wasn't a simple $500 excess claim. I eventually complained to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) who agreed that Rentalcover.com were responsible in full for the claim and also awarded us $2000 in non-financial losses. Even then it took over a month and multiple threats from the rental companies lawyers for them to pay even though they are bound by AFCA's determination to settle the claim. Do not trust this business, please use a reputable insurer!

I faced situation when the rental car company charged me for minor damage 650 euro. I applied in rentalcover.com for insurance payment. I was really surprised when in two working days i got confirmation that my claim was approved and the next day all payment was on my bank account. Good job. THANKS A LOT!!!

I am 30 days past my claim, already paid to the car agency for the car damage and sent invoice, bank transfer and all the documents i had to RentalCover. RentalCover keep asking for additional documents and will not discuss directly with the car rental agency. I am stuck between two companies and i doubt i will ever see the car repair charge refunded by RentalCover. Bottom line - i recommend to pay the additional 50$ for the car rental agency and do the insurance there. The money saving via RentalCover doesn't worth the cost in health.

I bought rental car insurance through RentalCover.com, as it they were linked via Booking.com, where I rented my rental vehicle from for a trip to Sicily 3 weeks ago. However, upon picking up my rental car at the airport, I was coldly told by the rental car company clerk that RentalCover.com's policy would not be insuring my vehicle, and that any damages or theft sustained by the rental car would need to be paid for through my own pocket. This was not made clear by RentalCover.com prior to my arrival in Sicily. The fact that the rental car company in question - Europcar - didn't acknowledge a working relationship with RentalCover.com, despite the latter claiming online to provide requisite insurance coverage for their vehicles, is unacceptable to consumers, let alone potentially illegal. I have asked for RentalCover.com to reimburse my credit card account completely for all costs sustained in taking out their false car rental insurance coverage policy, yet they refused said reimbursement request, claiming yet again that I was indeed covered by their insurance plan during said rental period. RentalCover.com thus engages in false advertising, as stating upfront that rental car companies would not be abiding by their claimed coverage plans … would apparently affect RentalCover.com's soliciting and marketing efforts online.

Hi Ian, Thanks for submitting your review. We always want to improve our service so your feedback is invaluable. There's seveeral things that you've raised, so hopefully the following helps shine some light. Firstly, we do not work with the rental companies. As outlined in our Rental Guides (https://www.rentalcover.com/car-rental-insurance) and all of our emails, RentalCover.com is an independent alternative to the rental companies. We do not work with them - Europcar etc often tell the customers incorrect information so that they cancel our policy and instead pay twice as much for their waivers. Please contact Booking.com - we allow all our partners to give refunds after collection for this exact reason. We hope this helps resolve the issue for you and we hope that you continue to use us when you next book a car rental. Regards The team at RentalCover.com

Hi everybody, please do not trust this layer company. They are doing their best to decline claim. Once they paid my claim hardly but I thought that this is good company and bought 4 insurance packages from them for my upcoming rentals. But just yesterday they declined me and I will copy their email below. They always can answer you like that and they do not need explain the reason to anybody. In the claim process one of their employee told me that my rental agreement is not accaptable for them. I can show that remtal agreement to everybody whom it is interesting. It is standard agreement of local rental company. I cancelled all my existing insurances which bought from them previously and have not get their cancellation confirmatons already 2 days. So be carefully with them nd always know that they can decline your claim without any reason, just they want and that's it.

Hi Tigran, We appreciate customers sharing their experience with us. As mentioned in our different emails, RentalCover.com does not accept documents leading to fraudulent claims. Our Compliance Manager gave you all the details of the reasons why it has been stated as a fraudulent claim after a deep investigation. The fact of having 2 claims on a row is not the reason for the decision. Please refer to our emails. May you have any other question, please get in contact with us by email. Thanks. I got scammed by this company or someone pretending to be this company. They infiltrated my rental request on rentalcars.com and offered me CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP (yeah, right) insurance. I declined but received a thank you for purchasing VERY EXPENSIVE rental insurance. I immediately wrote to tell them I hadn't bought it nor did I want it and got and auto-response that they'd get back to me within 24 hours (never did). After returning the car, I got a texta nd an email from my credit card company asking whether I had just charged 155 CHF on my card at some garage. I had not and Citibank declined the charge but I was still left with a disputed charge for 49CHF for the unwanted insurance. That dispute was resolved in my favor by Citibank. However, upon hearing of our problem, the rental car agent warned us that we would start getting LOTS of nuisance calls. Indeed, I stared getting one call after another marked "Scam likely." I had to close my credit card while still abroad and get T-Mobile to block all scam calls. When I got home, I learned of a friend who had had the EXACT experience. BEWARE if you are transferred from rentalcars.com to rentalcover.com and keep a close eye on your credit card charges.

Hi there, I'm the founder of RentalCover.com and we take security very seriously so the team has asked me to reach out to you. Firstly I'm sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations. It's difficult to determine exactly what went wrong but if you reply to your RentalCover.com confirmation email we'll be able to assess. There's quite a few things that I'd like to address regarding your review, hopefully the following is helpful... 1. Regarding this statement: "I declined but received a thank you for purchasing VERY EXPENSIVE rental insurance." - I am not sure exactly how you interacted with the site, but it seems like you purchased a policy that you may not have wanted. These things happen online, in fact ast week I purchased 4 chairs on a website when I only wanted 1! You are able to get a refund at any time by replying to either the car confirmation email, or to our confirmation email. 2. Regarding your statement that "someone pretending to be this company... infiltrated my rental request on rentalcars.com"... - Rentalcars.com are the largest car rental site globally and they have been a partner of ours for many years. They have a thousand staff and are part of Booking.com which is one of the largest ecommerce sites globally. I mention this because we are their trusted partner and they have integrated our insurance policies on their site. They have done this so that their customers can access insurance policies that are approximately 50% cheaper than the waivers offered by the rental companies, and because the policies provide better coverage with no hidden exclusions. You may be aware that our mission is to bring transparency to car rental insurance - we do this because there are millions of customers who have had questionable charges levied against them by rental companies (there are plenty of review sites to look at!). 3. Regarding this statement: "I immediately wrote to tell them I hadn't bought it nor did I want it and got and auto-response that they'd get back to me within 24 hours (never did)." - While we have no email that fits your description, it is possible that you emailed Rentalcars.com. Their support is usually excellent, but if you had no response I am sure they would reply if you sent them a follow up. They are able to issue immediate refunds for situations like yours. 4. Regarding your statement that: "After returning the car, I got a texta nd an email from my credit card company asking whether I had just charged 155 CHF on my card at some garage. I had not and Citibank declined the charge". - We are not associated with any garage, and neither is Rentalcars.com. The transaction seems unrelated to the rental car and it has no connection with the insurance that you purchased. 5. Regarding your statement: "I was still left with a disputed charge for 49CHF for the unwanted insurance. That dispute was resolved in my favor by Citibank." - It seems like you have processed a chargeback. As mentioned above, an email to us would have led to the same result. 6. Regarding your statement: "upon hearing of our problem, the rental car agent warned us that we would start getting LOTS of nuisance calls. Indeed, I stared getting one call after another marked "Scam likely." I had to close my credit card while still abroad and get T-Mobile to block all scam calls." - We do not make any outbound phone calls and from my understanding nor do Rentalcars.com. I am unaware of any reason why either of us would have reason to call you. Can I ask a favour and get you to reply privately with a screenshot of the calls/texts in question? Also let us know your email and reference number as our security team may wish to talk with you as part of their investigation.

Hi again, Thanks for sending through your reference number. We've cancelled your pokicy and issued a refund. Our security team has looked into the situation and we have not seen any issues. The card was provided at the time, via Rentalcars.com, it was transacted by you. We're sorry that you weren't able to see that you had added our insurance to the car booking, this is obviously not our intention. If you can provide more information regarding the calls that you mentioned that would be useful, we'll take a look into it. Thanks
