“This is one of the worst services we have yet to experience. Not only was the website for applying for disabled veteran business light-years behind the industry but the system is overly complex, very cumbersome to use and does not support applications of companies with foreign citizens. Additionally, if the company has non-veteran members, the process to login and submit their documents takes weeks. The process and qualifications are NOT designed to ensure a company is owned and operated by disabled veterans but takes that a step further to require a specific company structure that is preventative of growth and not in alignment best practices. Most veterans structure their companies for success. VA reps explained to us the process was designed for a very small disabled veteran business and is not designed for fast-growing companies. The VA requirements are such that no consideration is given to the alternate structure only the letter of the requirement. In my opinion, this whole process was intentionally designed to be difficult to use, force veterans to adopt VA standards for company structure and make it difficult for veterans to achieve certification. In many cases, the VA reps mentioned they forced Veterans to change to their company structure to meet their requirements so they could obtain approval.”
