“So disappointed. Our expensive luxury slab tech work top was chosen at wicks along with our kitchen. We asked for a work surface that was hard wearing and one that you could place hot plates onto.It was only on fitting that we told by an independent fitter that the work surface would mark and need care with an expensive care kit.
We can not put hot plates on the surface, it stains and scratches from the slightest rough surface such as the bottom of a ceramic fruit bowel ( sheridans implied we’d used a knife).
We complained to sheridans and wicks and eventually the furniture ombudsman but with no satisfactory outcome.
I’m flabbergasted that slab tech work tops can be sold as such.”
“They have come on two occasions makes stupid remarks about how they cannot template because the kitchen is not to their standard. But no one knows what their standard is. I am so irate i will cancel my order completely.
I have been left with no kitchen for over 2 months waiting for templating appointments to be told when the time arrives that they wont do it because the kitchen is 7mm unlevel. When all of my levels was showing it as level but her laser leveler was not.
What a joke. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN they are a scam and are making money out of Ikea customer services for more call outs.”
“I bought a new 20K kitchen plus a £3000 quartz worktop made by Sheridan UK. Sheridan makes worktops for IKEA, Wickes, Benchmarx and Magnet. Sheridan pretty much has a monopoly on luxury worktops. And I would have to pay a huge price for this, both financially and mentally. Sheridan delivered a worktop that was REPAIRED leaving their workshop- hoping I wouldn't notice it. IKEAE’s manager at IKEA’s own Sheridan department testified that all worktops were inspected before being sent to a customer- which was a lie because IKEA wouldn’t have approved it being sent out. Sheridan’s own fitter damaged the worktop further during installation but would blame me.
Since I had paid for the worktop through IKEA, IKEA was legally responsible. IKEA promised to help me but failed again and again. In their defence, Sheridan didn't even reply to IKEA! I lost count of how many phone calls and emails I sent. I had no working kitchen or a promise of a new worktop even after 2 months. And Sheridan didn't care- and why would they? They have monopoly! Plus they weren’t legally required to care since I paid the worktop through IKEA.
I eventually contacted a solicitor who then contacted the CEO of IKEA UK. Then things started happening. The subcontractors to Sheridan came to fix the worktop, they fixed one damage but the other one was like mentioned earlier, a repair. Even Sheridan's own fitters were in shock at how Sheridan could send out a repaired worktop, hoping I would’t see it.
In the end, I had a working kitchen. It wasn't so much living without a kitchen for two months that hurt, it was being ignored, and no one cared. I will never ever put my foot in an IKEA store again. And if you do buy a kitchen, make sure you buy things DIRECTLY from the supplier so when things go wrong, that company has to fix the issue.
IKEA gave me £400 cash, and £200 vouchers (companies actually make money on giving out vouchers since it brings customers back in-store). Sheridan gave me £100 as a 'goodwill' which was an insult considering they refused to even answer IKEA’s emails, knowing they were in the wrong but legally not responsible. Sheridan got away with delivering a REPAIRED worktop and putting me through hell for 2 months.
There were more twists and turns in this story but it would be too detailed, again, it almost broke me mentally by not being heard, respected or offered a solution- until a solicitor contacted the CEO.
It's disappointing that a customer in a civilised country like the UK could be treated like I was.”
