Neither of the crews they sent out had any experience. Often times I had to help with angles and ideas on how to move items. The loading crew stacked multiple wooden chairs and tables on top of each other and we had many damaged items. Items they ruined.....Kitchen table with multiple gashes and missing paint, every kitchen table chair with gashes, broken jewelry stand and loaded it upside down so that all chains and items were knotted, gashes in bedroom furniture, put hole in new house trying to fit something that wouldn't fit. Just a terrible experience and they were not efficient at all. I will never use SML again and I recommend you don't either! I will be surprised if they even respond to this email and review.

From start to finish Simple Moving Labor was a nightmare. The dates we booked were unavailable, part of our load crew was late, the crew lead wasted up to 45 minutes chatting with us instead of loading our boxes, took their sweet time and ended up charging us an extra hour over what we booked. The unload crew let us know that the load crew packed large, heavy boxes on top of small ones which resulted in crushed and broken items. We are FURIOUS with the way Simple Moving Labor handled our move and will NEVER use or recommend them again.

I was extremely disappointed in the service we received. The booking person recommended 2 people when I needed 3 and gave me the wrong information regarding including move time vs trip charge that ended up costing me more. On the day of the move, they showed up an hour and a half late. The lead mover was experienced but his helper is brand new. That person walked like he was in quicksand (not so quick) and we were already late starting the day. I had to move half of the boxes to the truck myself because if I hadn't, it would have cost me several hundred dollars more. It seemed like I was the only person moving with any sense of urgency. They damaged our antique armoires, etc but did not point out the damage and actively concealed it. My wife and I were too busy moving the boxes onto and off of the truck ourselves we could not properly supervise. It was so late and we had already paid well over the budget, we did not make make them wait to look over everything. The next day we saw how much damage was done. We filed a claim with pictures and the claim was denied because they came to the conclusion that the damage was not from the move. I truly truly regret going with this company. I would highly recommend anyone considering them to search elsewhere. You will get a better price in the end and better service.

Still waiting for SML to resolve a damage claim. Be careful with this company. Hired three movers and only two showed for the first hour. All were to have equipment, only one did. Damage to walls and furniture was extensive. Claim process very precise with photos and time limits. No resolution or call back for two weeks. Final payment placed in contention with Visa. A long process but I intend to prevail.

I contracted for a move from fort Myers fla. to Knoxville Tn . Your company rep cancelled the labor without my consent or cause and then tried unrealistic excuses to cover up the mistake. I could understand mistakes but not this ! I would never rely on your service again or recommend it

No complaints with SML. My complaint is the company that came to pack up my truck. You said you were sending “the best of the best” instead i got “the worst of the worst”. The 1st 2 guys were good, 2nd 2 were horrible!

They put antiques against metal and scratched up many pieces. I provided more than enough blankets and they did not protect. They glass furniture at end and now I have broken glass in an antique. But 2 metal heavy footlockers on top of an antique wooded chest. Threw things on top of each other without protection in between.

I will never use this service again. The supervisor who showed up with the two movers brought his girlfriend, and told me he "brought his best movers" then left. The two movers he left with us were argumentative and dropped multiple containers off of the truck. One burst open and scattered tools all over the parking lot, then the guy told my 71-year-old dad he "had no business transporting tools in those types of containers" by way of an excuse. I jumped in and helped move everything, to prevent what should have been a 2-hour move (by "professional" movers) from turning into six hours. We were billed for five overall, as we arrived an hour late (after calling the 800-number to let them know we had run into a problem on the road) and had to pay for the lost time anyway. The movers' attitudes were negative from the moment we arrived with the truck, and when it came time to fill out the survey, the supervisor (who had returned to pick up the movers) stood over me watching everything I was filling in, and pressuring me for a 5-star rating. I have been waiting for this survey to arrive to give this full explanation. The movers broke one of the parking lot curbs apart completely rather than go around it with the utility dollies we provided. Multiple pieces of furniture were damaged. When they realized I wasn't leaving a tip, they started glaring and muttering as they got into the supervisor's truck to leave. The fact that they all got paid for an hour they didn't do anything, as well as taking twice as long to do the job than should have been necessary, and I wasn't about to give anything in addition for the arguments and irritation that they gave us.

Update: After my poor experience, Simple Moving Labor reached out to me immediately and made a great effort to find a solution. We came to an agreement and even though my losses cannot be fully recovered, I would now recommend SML because they were truly remorse for not being able to provide the service they said they strive to achieve. Most companies today don't care if they lose a customer so it's refreshing to find one that does and follows it up with action. I would never recommend this company to help someone move and I sell new construction so I have plenty of opportunities too. My things were so poorly packed into the moving truck that several items were scratched, two desks and a bookshelf were broken and had to be taken to a local dump. My DVD player and a custom made tomahawk were among other loose items the movers were taking to the truck, have disappeared along with who knows what else I may have had. I was so tired and frustrated unloading the truck I didn't even bother to take pictures of my stuff and how poorly it was packed. I just figured that never using you or steering anyone to your company ever again would be better than going through the hassle of trying to recoup my losses. Sincerely, John Harris

SML is the worst company I have ever hired. Your employees say alot but do nothing. Promises are never filled, lies are the norm! Not only did SML mishandle the loading appt I made but also the unloading the following day. The best SML could offer was a $60.00 refund! that’s pathetic. I am currently working on the claim forms for all the damages that was caused!! I will never use this company again and I certainly wont recommend them to anyone.

We apologize your move did not go as planned, although your notes to us after the unload were that you loved our moving teams. Our movers had truck issues causing them to be 1 hr late to your Load, and we were 30 minutes late to your unload. We do apologize, but please understand we don't intend for this to happen, in fact we have a 98% on time record. We did compensate you for the troubles as a measure of good faith.

Very poor packing. They didn't use 30 blankets we had on truck until over half way done. We told them to protect items with the blankets. Several items damaged , filing a claim. One of them stole over 250 Tynol meds from the big Costco container. They kept saying the lower floor was all empty of furniture. When there was a glass hutch & several items still there.. Would not use this Company again...

Terrible experience! Sent me two movers and one could barely walk. They forgot their tools so it took them an hour to take my bed apart. I was charged an extra hour due to them not arriving with the proper equipment. They didn't even have the first piece of furniture (a nightstand) loaded until 25 minutes after they arrived! They did not use any of the moving blankets, tie downs, or wrap that I provided, so all of my furniture was scratched when it arrived. Never again. Craigslist movers seem to be the way to go!

Simply put, this company charges way more than other/local moving companies yet contracts jobs through them. Local companies could be making this money but instead SML contracts the jobs out to them charging more in the process. A greedy distasteful business practice. I will not be using you again.

I do not recommend this moving company!!! The movers offered to set up my beds and work an extra hour for $90.00 and I agreed. When I received my statement they had charged $177.30 and said that the workers didn't have authority to offer a lower rate. I reminded SML that the workers have a fiduciary relationship with their company and that I accepted their offer in good faith. The one of the three movers also asked to be paid in cash so I went to the bank to get the cash for them. When I returned with the cash they had changed their story and said that they would be paid by the company. Overall it cost $731.00 plus $60.00 in tips to unload a 26 foot U-Haul. What a ripoff!!!

One mover was injured half way through, I had to move the rest with the other mover. My back is shot and I have not been refunded or contacted about this. I’m paying full price for 50% work. U said u were sending me professional people but you just sent me kids who don’t not know how to pack a truck. I was a call from you to discuss this. I have pictures to prove this.

I requested a team that has some experience packing a truck for a long move - from MN to CA. I got a team that haphazardly packed the truck, leaving items in the storage unit, with room on the truck. When we wanted them to stay and repack at 3:30 pm, they said couldn't due to another move. This required hiring additional movers to unpack the truck and repack, successfully putting all items from the storage unit on the truck. I will NEVER hire SML or whatever movers they sent again. I will also be sure to let Penske and my friends know how terrible the service is, to assure that Penske does NOT list them as referred movers.

This is not the first time that I have used them, but I decided to write a review this time because, it was not any better than the first time. We had them unload a Penske truck for us at our storage. We are seniors and we had just moved to Las Vegas. We had to stay at an Extended stay until we moved into our place. That is another story. We just moved in our place two months ago. We found so many things that were broken and messed up. We were asked for a tip even after we had paid for them to do the unloading. It seems to us that a tips was something that they expected. I have had bad experiences with Penske before on a moved so we decided to try and give them another chance. I and so sorry to say that they have failed again. Penske is the company that referred us to SML. I don't know if it is a part of their company or not, but we will not us them or refer them to any of our family or friends. Two bad experiences is enough along with the property that was destroyed. I guess the saying you get what you pay for is still up in the air where they are concerned!!
