It was the worst moving experience. There is damage all over my walls and huge scratches in our floor. We will never recommend SML to anyone.

Very poor crew. Didn’t move stuff to the right rooms. Didn’t come prepared with proper moving dollies. Had to provide our own. We could have done it ourselves in less time- shouldn’t have taken four hours we could’ve done it in about 2 1/2

I was moving my 92 year old grand mother in with my 70 year old mother remotely. On the front end the crew was running late and did not alert anyone after several calls and hours later I had another crew do the work. On the back end the crew was running late and never responded to your calls. You had another crew do the work late again.

We apologize, we were running late due to vehicle issues. You asked us to cancel only 30 minutes after the arrival window. Our movers were almost to your location at this time, but you said your truck was already half way unloaded and asked us to cancel. We provided you a discount for a future move.

They damaged my refrigerator, never moved it inside and it took moving it and getting a repairman out to fix the electrical problem they caused and estimate the damage done on all 3 doors. I would like to work something out before I have to get legal help to recoup my losses.

Crew that loaded truck rushed and did a horrible job loading truck. They assumed they where finished and sat in the car. I let them know we had more stuff after they wasted 20 mins they said it would cost me an extra hour. Unload crew even commented on poor loading job. They damaged our floor and tried to not let us know. Will never use your services again.

Didn't show when scheduled. Did not have equipment, i.e. dolly's. Not organized. Inept at packing the truck.

My move was a nightmare on both ends. On the Houston loading end, one of the two loaders stopped working frequently stopped working to ask me to provide information to help him start a business. To be fair, I was not completely packed and ready to go when the movers arrived. However, more than 75% of my household goods were packed and ready to load. Since one of the two movers was not working 100% and continually tried to engage me in conversation, he was not getting his work done and he was hindering my packing and supervision of the loading. Moreover, the two SML loader did a very poor job of utilizing the available truck space and properly balancing the load. I’m retired and could not afford to pay for more than the minimum 2-hr loading time estimated by SML, so I stopped the loaders at the 2-hour mark. As a consequence of the above, my own actions included, it took me a whopping 18 hours to get all of my household goods loaded on the truck. On the San Antonio end, I arrived at my new apartment 1 hour later than expected because I got lost once arriving in San Antonio from Houston. The SML movers arrived at my new apartment 1 hour before I did. They left and came back as soon as I had arrived. I had anticipated the possibility of unforeseen delays on the San Antonio end, so I called the local SML mover to ask for a later scheduled unloading window because the apartment office was going to open 30 minutes later and I need time to get keys, sign contract papers,ask questions, see my apartment for the first time. The local SML move supervisor told me that moving the appointment to accommodate my worries was unnecessary. Some after the San Antonio movers met me, their move supervisor informed me that they had consulted with their SML manager, who had consulted with Penske, and together they had decided they would be charging me for 3 hours of moving time, which would have cost me a whopping $$270 more than SML estimated 2-hour minimum. When I protested, the move supervisor contacted his manager and agreed that I would be charged the SML quoted 2-hour minimum. The unloaders only took 1 hour to unload the truck. I told them to put the boxes anywhere insided my apartment without regard to what room would be best for me, and to please just “get the job done” within the scope of the original quote. At the “end” of the unloading, the unloading supervisor told me they had unloaded everything; I signed papers, and the movers left. I found out later that the Penske truck door was left up, a few of my personal items were strewn across the truck floor, and 4 boxes I had in the truck cab were not unloaded (maybe that was according to normal procedure). In hindsight, I wish I had hired my own movers directly. The SML movers and were the most unprofessional movers I have ever encountered in my 67 years of life. You caused me tremendous emotional and financial stress. I will never use your services again. I will never recommend SML to anyone — not even to my worst enemies! Sincerely - Michael R. Cloud

The team who moved my furniture out, was absolute horrible in EVERY-WAY possible. The team who moved my furniture in the new place, was great in every way possible.

While I rated the loading crew excellent b/c they were able to get everything on the truck, I was told by the unloaders that many furniture pieces were not wrapped properly and there were scratches and other damage. Also, a tool box with over $250 in tools went missing.

The guy who sent to load my truck did a horrible job all my furniture is ruined I've been trying to call you people about this no one's returning my phone calls I had a brand new bedroom set that is rude

The unload from our California location was fabulous. When the stuff arrives for the offload here in Oregon. It was awful. They didn’t complete the job and our most important fixtures we left in the garage. The onload crew was on the ball and dis an awesome job. And the offload crew was slow and inept . We were even willing to have them stay longer just to finish the job but they insisted they were finished. When we called to complain the company just wanted to put together a new job and pay again. So this poor review is really based on the offload crew. Hope there still any way more you guys can help, Thanks, Leda and Bill

Original crew was going to be late so they sent a replacement crew that was just as late. Crew that finally showed up was terrible. Two hour estimated job took them 5 hours to complete. Front load washer that was in basement was dented on the back. They tried to carry it by hand and bumped it on every step until they finally took it back down and put it on a dolly and were finally able to get it up and out. The crew took 2 breaks one for a half hour and another for 15 minutes and then said they wouldn’t charge for a half hour since they were late.

I ordered 2 movers for 8/31 between 11:30/12:30. Apparently something happened & 2 movers finally showed up at 3:00 PM. which put quite a stress on me bc my condo does not allow any moving after 5:00 PM. Which of course it ran over. Then when I got to MN and I ordered 2 movers to help unload, all I got was a complete run around and empty promises for two days. They kept telling me the movers weren’t answering their phones and promising they would call me back in a half hour, an hour, etc. never once did I get A call back starting from Thursday 9/6 to Friday 9/7. At 11;30 AM on Friday 9/7 I called a different co and last minute I was Able to procure 2 movers arriving within 2 hours. So needless to say, this 70 year old woman will never use your company again! Plus they were half the price of your company. I have Another Penske truck ordered for October but since i can’t count on anyone even showing up, i will not even order from you. You offer a service but you can’t deliver! Very poor way of running a business.

The movers showed up 1.5 hours late. I paid for 3 hours and only 2 showed up. My family had to help load everything since we were meeting a second set of movers in Louisville and I didn’t want to pay them for waiting on us. My dad is 74 and shouldn’t have to help move furniture just because the movers were late. A lot of my furniture was damaged because of the way it was loaded on the truck. When I called to complain, management offered me a $25 credit. Horrible experience and I will never use this company again or recommend them. I will also be writing a review on yelp and anywhere else I can about them.
