They did the job and we are grateful. They just weren't very good at organizing our stuff so we helped them a lot.

The guys showed up in the parking lot and were talking among themselves. The didn't call us or try to find the apartment. I heard them from the deck of the apartment, went down to check. A waist of a several minutes. They moved and packed everything OK. We went to the other location to unload. They had to use someone else's paperwork and had to get some white out from a store to cover the old writing. Didn't stop the clock until I signed the papers. 17 minutes past our minimum deadline. Not pleased to pay for extra 1/2 hr.

The SML labor in Tucson, Arizona were an awesome team. Well equiped, tools, blankets to cover doors. Very respectful. They knew what they were doing. Now the labor from New Bedford, Mass. I would never again use those kids again. No tools, no clue on how to move anything.

Our movers through SML showed up two hours early, which I suppose was more inconvenient for them than it was for us, but it did put a lot of additional undue pressure on an already stressful day. The movers were fast and got the job done, though they also seemed uninterested in working with us on which items should go out to the truck in which order (which when you don't have excess room in the truck and it is raining and you don't want to leave furniture or boxes outside is important).

They didn't listen to all our suggestions (such as to remove drawers from heavy furniture before picking them up) and as a result dropped my dresser which cracked the dresser and dented the wood floor. That said, they were helpful and efficient at packing the van.

We had a loading team in Redmond, WA. They appeared to do a good job of positioning boxes and furniture, could have done a better job with the dozen moving blankets I supplied to protect table tops and just cushing things. We also had an unloading team in Broomfield, CO that was fast but either tired or a little impatient. We did find some damaged goods as the offloaded, but that was because the loading team in WA either dropped or packed the furniture poorly. One sofa end table appears to have been dropped, one corner badly damaged, some other scratches and things we can work around but better use of the blankets would have avoided these issues. Overall I would hire your services again but would monitor their loading better.

My experience with SML was fine, my labor however was very slow. One remained on the phone a large portion of the time slowing the process down and costing me additional money. Once we got in to hour 4 I began taking what was remaining from my apartment and brought everything out myself to speed up the process. Overall the job took at least 1 - 1.5 hours longer than it should have.

The movers showed up on time and were pleasant and efficient. My only criticism is that I had 3 open boxes containing flowering orchids, and after they left as I was securing the truck I discovered that they placed 2 laptop computers on top of the flowering plants, destroying several of them. Common sense should have told them not to place computers on top of live flowering plants.

Load and unload crews were friendly and polite. However, I thought the unload crew was supposed to reassemble furniture once they unloaded the truck which they didn't. I also purchased 5 ratchet straps at my local Auto Zone store for the move and discovered 2 were missing once the move was complete. Not certain if they were intentionally taken or whether it was the load or unload crew. Not a big deal but figured I'd mention it.

They got the job done, and obviously had little experience and less training.

The movers were very nice. However, the entire process was very shady and I almost called in at one point to make sure these men actually worked for SML. First, I received a text that just said "hey" when the movers arrived. I asked "who is this?" And he replied with the name of a DIFFERENT moving company. I said I had a move setup through SML, not the company he said he was from, and he replied "I also do moves for SML." Was already nervous at this point. Another thing, both of the movers were deaf. This typically wouldn't be a problem except that I already had no idea if this was legitimate or if I was being scammed somehow, but now couldn't express my concern to the movers. On top of this, when the the first man arrived, we had to wait 5 minutes for the other mover to show up, and I had to repeatedly state I didn't want the clock to start until BOTH men were present. He still didn't understand and started unloading smaller things anyway. Luckily this didn't become a problem because we still stayed under budget. Then, when the gentleman presented me with the paperwork to sign, it looked like a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy, and it didn't appear to have any of my move information on it- Not my hourly rate, travel charge, anything, but I was expected to sign it. I did this blindly out of desperation but did NOT feel comfortable signing it, but didn't really have a choice as we had to have the move done right away. The only damage was that the man badly gouged the footboard of our bed. I didn't notice this until the following day. Overall, the men were extremely nice and efficient. I tipped them both. The real problem is the way SML has the moves organized.
