This outfit is TOTAL SCAM. They tell you the class of car you already paid for isn’t available and that the only available class is one up and youll have to pay the rate difference. They got you cuz what are ya gonna do? And they know this. Agent was lucky he didn’t get his teeth kicked in because he thought the whole thing was entertaining. Run from this car rental SCAM

Rented a car in Southampton. Brought it back in perfect condition. They claim there was damage to the driver side bonnet in an area that is impossible to have scratched and supposedly down to primer. 5-10cm!!!! They provided no proof of these damages to me after multiple requests. They have no live person to speak to about damages. I know for a fact I didn't damage the vehicle. They are now telling me they will be charging my card for £971.06 and there is nothing I can do about it to dispute it. Nobody I can talk to. They have not provided any proof of damages they are claiming. This is a completely fraudulent company scamming honest people. Stay away. You have been warned.

I drove out of the car park after getting my keys. The car broke down outside the car park and they charged me for a gearbox replacement. This company is disgusting. The car already was not fit to drive. It was not even half a mile put the car park.

Sixt is underhanded and they treat their customers with no respect. They are charging me for a supposed scratch on the paint of the car I returned. I sent them a video showing the condition of the car (obviously, no scratch), and the video was timestamped to the time I returned it. They take forever to reply and provide no proof of the alleged scratch. They charged over over a thousand dollars for damage that was not there when I left the car in their custody. To this day, I'm not sure there even is a scratch because they've provided no proof. Stay away from this business, the rental price is not what you'll end up paying. Ignore the stellar reviews they have on their own website, and go by the real reviews on Yelp and Tripadvisor, which they haven't had a change to manipulate. Not surprisingly, they're hovering around 1 star in those places.

My wife and I had a terrible experience with this location. I rented a car from them and then returned it after hours before an early-morning flight. To ensure they knew it was coming back damage-free, I sent them an email confirming the time of my return and even took a video on my phone of me walking around the car and showing there were no scratches on the body. A few days after I got home, the company claimed there was a scratch that would cost over $1,000 to repair on the door. That was the cost of my entire rental! I sent them screenshots from the video showing that door with no damage. They still insisted on charging me. I sent them the video. Same thing. I asked them to look at footage from the garage to see who caused the damage. They refused. It didn't matter to them that I was a longtime customer. They said I was responsible for damage caused up to 4 hours after the location opened the next morning -- meaning I was on the hook for whatever they did with the car even though it was the day after I returned it to their own garage. Unbelievable. I will never rent with Sixt again. I can only hope this review prevents someone else from making the same mistake. Go elsewhere and rent with an honest business that treats its customers right!

Do not trust this company they are complete con men. Took my money told me everything was good with the booking. When I got to Manchester Airport they refused to let me take the car as they couldn't do a background check on me as I was a British citizen who no longer lives in the UK and I am no longer on the electoral roll but still have a British driving licence. This is not made clear when booking or in the terms and conditions and I also feel you should not take a payment upfront before doing such checks. If I was on a foreign driving licence the man at the desk said I would have had no problems hiring the car and would have handed the keys over even though I'm the same person. Another company in Britain treating British people like second rate citizens in their own country. And they have now refused to give me my money back. Thus this is why I feel its a scam, as I believe you should do your checks which are fine if that's company policy before you take a clients money then when they fly to a country and leave them stranded and then you refuse to give them there money back. I run a restaurant I don't charge people for there food and drink upfront before giving it to them so why do you get to charge for a service you have not provided. Disgusting faceless company watch out everybody apparently I'm really not alone and This company is very ruthless and will try take your money and keep your deposits at every small chance they get.

1 star only because I can't choose 0. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Hire cost may look less than others, until you turn up to collect the car!. They will fleece your credit card. Book a car with them, turn up, they find grey areas to make you upgrade or add drivers . When you return the car, they find further existing damage and claim it against you, whilst old damage hasn't been fixed. You won't be able to stop them taking the claimed money as they have your credit card number and you signed a contract. We even tried blocking the payment direct with our credit card and they still took the money. Disgusting company and downright unlawful practices and damage claims. Don't use them. It will cost you in the long run

Ive had regular car hire throughout europe for over 45 years and NEVER had this trouble before. We pre.ordered and rented two cars from sixt at hotel luna Albufeira. Everything was fine until the final invoice arrived 3 days after my return to the UK. One car invoice was fine, yhe second car invoice had a charge for almost €100 for fuel, despite us filling up the car and showing the full tank to Bruno, the advisor, almost 3 weeks later and 8 emails to both sixt portugal customer services (no replies whatsoever) and hotel luna desk, (1 reply, thanking me for the email) I have had no further replies or even acknowledgement of the problem. I am now having to contact my credit card company for some redress. Decent cars good initial service, but wait for the final invoice and start to fume... Avoid like the plague.

Completely unethical company. extorted damage charges from me that I did not cause and could not address because they failed to give me a full pre rental damage report before leaving the property. charges for repair inflated, add-on's like value depreciation and admin fees added, but worst off they refused to give me a claims manager (in authority) name and direct contact to deal with. They hide behind their processes. Not to mention they charged me a cancellation fee because they were unable to change a reservation after a flight was cancelled, so I had to cancel and make a new reservation at a cost of an additional $100.. don't use them, they are completely unethical.

Long story short; I would not ever recommend SIXT to anyone. I read the reviews online before making the decision to go with the lesser-known car rental company for my trip to CO. Most of the reviews were saying things such as not getting the car you picked, being downgraded without a discount, and the worst, trying to communicate with a human is impossible due to their automated system which is not helpful. Regardless of all of this, I decided to go with SIXT and give them an honest chance. That was a mistake. My first issue with the company is its software systems and operations as a whole. I booked a Jeep Grand Cherokee at the beginning of April, while I won't disclose amounts, I will say it was not a small purchase. I knew there was an opportunity that I wouldn't be put in a Jeep Grand Cherokee and that was confirmed 2 days prior to my trip to CO when they downgraded me to a Chevy Blazer which I was fine with if it was the car they were to put me in. However, upon arriving in CO and selecting the exact make and model of the rental, both a Jeep Grand Cherokee or a Chevy Blazer were available and they tried to get me to go with a Toyota Highlander. I voiced my displeasure with the agent at which he kept saying it was the same as Hertz and Avis. The altercation with the agent led to him declining to service me. After he declined our service for which I had prepaid a month in advance, I did go to Hertz where they were able to put me in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. There are a couple of things that really bug me regarding this situation. 1.) The agent claims you don't get the car you requested on the app to due availability (first come first serve)... I booked this rental a month ago, is that not a priority? 2.) If you aren't able to put a customer in their requested rental, communicate that with them, and if you aren't able to put them in that replacement car, COMMUNICATE THAT TO THEM! Especially because the customer is probably traveling and it would be helpful. I was duped two times by this company, saying they were going to put me in these cars and they straight up lied. Never. Ever will I recommend this company to ANYONE. To add insult to injury, they called the day after, unknowing that they didn't lend me a vehicle and the lady on the phone didn't even want to hear my story. At this point, I truly don't know what to do

Price quoted, then charged double, cleaning windows, tyres, yet no one asked us to wash the car for them before returning, didn't get the car requested, returned early asked for customer survey before sending the shocking invoice and charges shown on card bill. Premium location, what is that, Alicante!! don't hire from a city centre? airport? railway station? you pay extra, will never use them again, despite 30 photos of the car on return looking as hired, still charged to wash the windscreen!! rip off. avoid will do a card claim under section 75

For the first time, I didn’t take full coverage for renting a car for only 2 days. I didn’t drive except from the airport to my residence and back. When I returned to Sixt, the employee immediately went to a specific spot under the front of the car where some damage was visible. It was clear to me that this damage was already there. I certainly didn’t do this. This company is not worth renting cars at all. Do not rent with Sixt !

Absolutely disgraceful company! Scammers and liars. Worst experience ever AND they charged me for damage i didn’t do. And the guys at the Glasgow airport service center were doing some shady stuff. Making you sign for a Tesla, saying their system was down, and dodgy stuff. Watch out and stay away from them

Scam company. Surprised they haven’t been sued and ran out of business yet. They charged my debit card $180, 3 months after renting a car and paying them all the services.

We did a physical walk around the car before taking the vehicle out of the garage. We went to and from the wedding destination. Parked away from almost all the cars at the wedding venue. No physical damage at all when we returned the vehicle to Sky Harbor (PHX). When taking our suitcases out of the car, we found a pair of glasses which had been left from the previous renter. I also did another physical walk around the car with the SIXT return rep, and let him know about the glasses in the car. My wife handed them to him. We get home and I received an email from SIXT stating that there was a dent and other damage on the car. We then proceeded to to let them know about the glasses we found, and that we had done physical walk-arounds with the SIXT return rep; basically letting that they know that they don't do thorough clean outs of their vehicles, and also caught them LYING about the damages to the vehicle. This business and these people are terrible and should never be trusted. They will try and charge you for anything and everything they can on the back end. Oh...and if you try to cancel, they will try and charge you one and a half times what your original charge was in the first place. Also, watch the charges on your credit card after they send you a note, stating that they will.not be making any further insurance inquiries. They will try and charge you for that as well. We fought and won on that as well. They're deceitful, dishonest, and are extremely unaccountable. LIARS! Do not rent from them!

Terrible service. Overcharged by almost 25% and invented ridiculous charges after we followed the contract to the letter. I’m leaving reviews everywhere I can in hopes that they don’t scam others and go out of business. Don’t use them. Whatever discount they offer isn’t worth it.
