The school is great, I find the teachers’ approach very intuitive and clear. I do recomend to offer more “atelier” classes per week, specially directed towards writing composition and conversation

I am very happy with the teaching I have received from the Swiss French School and I feel that my level of French, particularly the grammatical structure, has improved significantly since I started my lessons. I was starting with a strong base so I cannot say what they are like for a complete beginner. The best thing that I have found with the school is the quality of the teaching itself. The small class size (never more than 3, regularly just me) means you get plenty of time to discuss around the topics rather than just follow a rote timetable and the teachers are very friendly and approachable. The workshops are also very helpful, albeit they are usually a lot busier, and the social events get rave reviews (although I have been unable to attend one myself.) If you book in advance, the flexibility around the lessons is also very helpful. So, what stops it from getting five stars? Firstly, it is relatively expensive, so therefore would be expected to offer more than a cheaper alternative. The main other drawbacks for me are the quality of the on-line material is not quite there. I rarely felt like I was learning when completing a lot of these exercises and the system had some simple flaws. Finally, because the school is very busy, if you need to rearrange a class or re-take a level, then it can be very difficult to find a space in the immediate week or two, particularly if, like me, you were studying after work. However, overall I was very happy and have continued with SFS to take me to my DELF exam in June, so I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Flexibility without availability doesnt help... we are allowed to opt for echange class anytime but there is no availability most of the time.... I have spent and lost enormous time of mine fixing up dates/ schedules for classes....a 2 week advance class request needs to be given for having any availibilty... SFS is highly not recommended for anyone as loss of precious time is included .... huge cost with very less oppurtunity of getting classes...

It would be better if the school developed more personalised teaching methods based on students level. Making significant changes to the terms of the agreement may not suit everyone. Maybe the student joined because of your terms suite him or her but changing the agreed contract, as you force a student to adapt or leave. Students with different French level found themselves in the same class.

With my experience of learning different languages in different countries I have never seen such a bad school!. There is NOTHING good there: no proper teaching, no structured program (just random classes with random topics with no follow-up on learnt material), every class has a different set of students, so half of the time is spent on the presentation, teachers are always late (and you cannot blame them, it is not their fault but the schedule is organized in this way), classes are composed of students with very different level (beginners and advanced together), there is no explanation done by teacher (you are supposed to study the materiel at home and if you did not understand something it is your own problem, luckily there is always google to help you), teachers in french classes speak always English.... And all this at very expensive price. Cherry on the cake is that the lessons are not guaranteed: if you want to attend the class (after you paid for it) you have to call at 8 a.m. on a certain day to book it. If you did not do it, you don't get it and loose your money.

All of my comments have allready been stated in both written/verbal communication with the school's staff and thus remain unchanged. Since I have been noticing more effort regarding the organization within the School lately, the rate I gave is higher than I normally would have given.

I paid for three courses as there was a discount and I was assured that everything would work really well, it was all supposed to be very flexible etc. I would not recommend doing that, take the shortest module you can to try out if the method works for you. For me it was a waste of time and money. The technology for audio did not work, despite the salesperson assuring me that there were no issues. A lot of the program relies on this. I wasted many weekends trying to get it to work but didn’t manage. The course killed all my motivation to learn because I was just struggling with the technology. I was trying to get my money back on several occasions but no success. Hugely disappointing experience, unfortunately. I would not recommend.

Price is ridiculously high compare to what this institution provides. Comparing to any other language schools in Geneve, this institute provides the least amount of teaching hours. So many restrict for taking class. With the highest cost of fee, you still have to compete to get a spot for a class. Definitely not recommended.

The promise to get to the B1 level was not true as after the intensive and very expensive program we did with Swiss French School, I did not pass the exam of B1 for the University of Lausanne and Delph. The real level is below and the way of teaching is definetely not good. For example, the teaching accent is made only on the communication part and there is clearly not enough of writing, reading and analyzing texts, etc. All in all, I would never recommend Swiss French School to someone else! Best of luck for the future.

overall very happy with courses offered and progress made but frustrated by difficulty in booking lesson times and workshops/activities given I have limited times when I can study. would prefer for private lessons to be able to express a teacher preference.
