“All my interactions with Trail'd has been super positive. Even though Trail'd was ramping up production with their new product, a period when promises are easily broken, my contact at Trail'd assured me they would get my tank to me before I took off on my overlanding trip. Three days before I left my Boondocker arrived with plenty of time to install and test my plumbing fittings. Thank you for delivering in more ways than one!”
“Disappointed in the product, did not come with ring mount as advertised and it seems all mentions of pressure fittings have been erased. Would like to return.”
“Trail'd provides execellent communication and support as well as wonderful product videos on youtube. These folks care about the consumer and the quality of their product!”
“I just bought them, it's still snowing here and haven't had a chance to go anywhere.
They appear to be well made, but can't write a review of what I don't know.
They were bought for a GX470 in the mtn's of Wyoming, I do archaeology and explore the backcountry.”
“Perfect for my 03 Tacoma as the factory fuel tank is way too small. Now I can carry emergency or as needed fuel in the wheel well. Which became useless space after I put 33” KO2 tyres on the truck and the spare wouldn’t fit there anymore.
Do I recommend these tanks yes I absolutely do.
Dave.”
“I bought the spare tire containers that I stored where the factory spare tire sits. The 1st day of my overlanding trip they fell out on the trail. Very frustrated I spent so much money on this.”
“I used these for an onboard water system I made for our 4Runner. It's a great product and has worked well. Holds up to off roading well and has not shown any signs of wear. However, my only complaint is that the spout. Since it's a gasoline type adapter, it was impossible to find an adapter that fit the threads of the trail's tank and standard water hose. Because of this, I had to drill my own hole and insert a bulkhead fitting. It was a real pain in the ass and we struggled with leaks from the fitting because it wasn't made for the wear and tear of off road. We got it to work, but I'd give the product 5 stars instead of 4 if there was a better option for those of us looking to attach a water hose”
“I love the convenience and the comfort of having extra fuel and water, just in case on those overland trips don’t exactly go as planned. They are easy to use and store in a location that is out of the way and otherwise unused since my spare will no longer fit under my vehicle. I’ve used them for two years and still are working great.”
“I put fuel in them about 8 months ago and no leaks or anything. Plus it is very cool that they fit where the spare tire used to go. They are a win in my book. Thanks for making them and having the idea.”
“Trail'd water jugs are fantastic. They are a great way to carry extra or emergency water. I first installed them on my Tacoma. But later made a disc adapter which allowed me to run them under my Chevy Colorado ZR2, then under a Raptor. I have recommended them to several friends. They are extremely rugged and well built.”
“Very rugged! I use them to hold fuel. They're supposed to be made to be place under he vehicle where the spare tire goes. But the vehicles hoist that pulls and holds the spare tire won't hold the fuel pack into place. The plate on the hoist that goes through the hole isn't big enough to stay in the hole of the trail'd pack. When you're bouncing around it jars lose and there is a strong potential of the plate on the hoist slipping back through the hole and the pack falling off the vehicle. Perhaps a rugged adaptor to prevent this.”
“I got excellent support from Brian, and the product is also rugged, I've mounted this as dual and taken to trails where it will drag the bottom, it withstood all harsh what terrain can throw.
Loved the product and team behind this.”
“The spare tire water tanks are a good space saving idea but honestly they're not easy to remove from the bottom of the rig. I ended up cutting some extra holes in mine and plumbing them in for a more permanent installation so they don't have to be removed. I think you'd be better served developing a single larger tank (the capacity of 2 or 2.5 of your current tanks) with a couple extra ports for filling / emptying (using a pump) so they don't need to be removed. Crawling around in the dirt to get more water isn't super ideal I've realized.”
“I run 2 of the 6 gallon cans and they've been great. Completely out of the way and uses unused space. They've traveled around 50k miles with me on trips and haven't had one issue.”
