“I received 18 Hardy Gerbera plants around 26 April. Although the leaves were a bit floppy they soon perked up after the plants were potted on into 5" pots filled with John Innes no2 compost. I kept the 18 pots under polythene cloches overnight for a week and stood them out in the rain / sunshine during the daylight hours. The plants now look nice and healthy and I shall plant them into my flower bed by the 3rd week of May. Be aware though, contrary to advertising, Hardy Gerberas (Garvinia) are NOT as hardy as made out. I had a bed of about 20 plants in the autumn of 2018, of which about 14 were lost to the frost during the relatively mild 2018 /2019 winter in the SE of England.”

“I placed an order for two Salvia plants on the 11th March 2016. Shortly afterwards I received a letter explaining that there was a problem with stock levels and that there would be a delay in filling the order. Within a week, my order was delivered but as frosts were still being experienced, they were not planted until the end of April. These particular plants were not what I would call 'healthy' and in fact they never showed any signs of growing, never mind flowering. I contacted the company in July to register my disappointment and request any assistance that could be offered. The response was that I would be delivered of two new plants, which arrived in early August. These were much stronger plants and are now settled in my garden. I asked what the charge would be for the new plants and if the old ones should be returned and was assured that there would be no charge at all and there would be no requirement to return the originals This is so different from my experiences with other company's of this nature and Van Meuwen are to be congratulated on offering a very fine service to their customers. Thank you”

“I've had 4 plants so far from Van Meuwen and all were perfect nothing wrong with any of them all planted and have doubled in size. If you read the description before you buy it tells you when the plants will get to you so there is no point people moaning about plants taking a long time to come. You don't want to wait don't buy from here you can't moan and make excuses that you didn't know the plants took a long time to come when it's on the description.”

“Having read this review site immediately after placing my order I anticipated arrival of the consignment with dread. I was therefore delighted that the order arrived when scheduled, well packaged, with plants of good quality. I'm not normally given to "Five Stars", but I found the bulk of the reviews here so mean and small minded that I decided it was about time someone over-compensated somewhat. Well done; I'll be back.”

“I ordered 3 bare root roses. Two of the died out. I am not a keen gardener and this is my first attempt to grow plants. Was very disappointed but rang van meuvan to inform two plant dried out with embarrassment to ask to re order. The customer service was excellent. They said they would send another plant trusting my words and made me feel so good. They send me live plants with roses. I don't think any seller is responsible for replacement if the plant dries out once it is delivered in good condition. But van meuvers takes customer satisfaction as its priority and it has given real spirit to beginners like me. Thank you so much.”

“Okay you have read all the poor reviews, now for something different. What a joy it was to deal with this Company, purchased a Dianthus & Diascia collection from them to replaced older plants purchased some years ago from same Company, which has proved to be a really good buy, producing lots of flowers with a wonderful fragrance. The Dianthus arrived early April & was planted out and have taken well, shortly after the Diascia arrived & after potting on began to look sickly, after a chat with a charming Lady from Customer Service the failing plants were replace without quibble, she prove to me that their customer service was not as portrayed in the many review here and elsewhere. I would purchase plants again from them without any question.”

“I have nothing but praise for this Company, my first purchase this year was for another collection of Fragrant Dianthus to replace ageing plants purchased some years ago from them, these proved to be excellent (as before) and have taken really well after planting out the plugs. I fully expect great results as they are looking wonderful alongside the older collections. With these I also ordered a collection of Diascia which although arrived in quite early April partly failed after planting on & most looked poorly. Having spoken to a very polite Lady on the phone & explained the problem I was assured that they would be replaced this was completed this week a new plants look good. Now this not only confirms our delight in our purchase, but better still gives the Customer Service Department of Van Meawen top marks for dealing with their customers when things went wrong, a lovely change in a world that often forgets us in times like this.”

On contacting customer services, these plants were immediately replaced, and compensation paid for our inconvenience. “I brought four fruit trees three year ago not had any fruit up to date.Two weeks ago I ordered two magnolia miniature trees just had a letter telling me cannot deliver till Feb 2016 when you try to phone it cost me five pound just to get a answer utily disgusting business should be shut down Brian shaw coventry 1/10”

“I have dealt with Van Meuwen for years and if I have had any problems them have dealt with them , I have ordered some plants and was disappointed, this was because there had been an extremely heavy demand for the plants in question.( I have often been to a shop who cannot supply goods for the same reason) so I understood. They refunded my money (quickly) and the following year sent me some plants-the same as my previous order-free. I have had some plants not do very well I told them and offered to send photo's which they declined, they could not replace them (no plants left- as it was the middle of the growing season- and they done the same thing as before. I had some plants arrive in a rather 'crushed' state, this I believe was due to the Post/delivery people, I again phoned and offered to return the plants they refused and sent me another order telling me to just keep whatever I could keep what I could from the first order and sent me a replacement order. So I would recommend these people, remember some of the plants are very fragile and if the delivery people are not extremely careful can crush them.”

“Bought 5 bare root hellebores. Roots looked healthy, although I won't know until the autumn when shoots should appear whether doing well. Well packaged. Would have been useful if roots were labelled as to variety name, colour or with a photo. Cost could be increased with this extra. Information extremely poor regarding delivery, hence only 3*.”
