“I visited one of Weatherspoons pubs today with my wife on our first day of our holiday. My wife went to get a table for us to obtain a meal and i pop upstairs to the bathroom.
I suffer from IBS so went to the first cubical free in the restroom , i entered and as I always check for toilet paper, I discovered that the hold was empty and so I started to make my way to the next cubical. As I was leaving I glanced back and i discover that the whole of the flush buttons and a great proportion of the seat had been smeared in tomato sauce which would have ruined anyones clothing and made flushing the toilet either impossible or caused great distress. I then moved on to the only free cublical and fortunately this had toilet roll but as I went to lock the door I saw that there was no locking mechanism and it looked like if had been ripped off, with just a hole where the lock should have been. Due to my condition I had to make do and pray no one opened the door which for some reason opened outwards.
I felt extremely anger that the rest room was in such a state of disrepair at 17.00 on a Sunday in a quite family pub in such a lovely part of the country. I worked five years as a door supervisor in some very rough pubs in West Yorkshire and i have seen my fair share of mindless vandalism and violence but I don't think I have ever been in a supposed respectable family oriented public house in a highly tourist area in such disrepair on a Sunday afternoon. I am sorry I was so upset we left your establishment and to be honest if this is what visitor's see of a pub in a flag ship area than it does not say much for your manager, staff or ultimitely your company and personally I think you are letting the whole nation by showing the stereotypes of England drinking culture are proven right by this attitude.
I sent an email to Weatherspoons head office requesting that they can confirm that this is a one off event and that the problems highlighted will be addressed, fixed and that members of your organisation runing and working within this establishment will have the correct refresher or indeed training to ensure that this situation is resolved and doesn't happen again.
I have yet to receive a reply.”
“I feel safe with the pricing arrangements i.e. Menu tells you the product, calories and prices. Then at the bar all that you have ordered comes up on the screen. I can't find fault with anything Tim Martin does and I just wish that the rest of the hospitality businesses would follow suit”
“Disappointing meals in Alton and Guildford weatherspoons. The food in Alton was cold when it arrived and only one meal arrived, we asked where the other one was and were told it would arrive shortly. I had finished my meal before the other one had arrived.
Guildford - the burgers were very dry, the lettuce was brown and the chips were cold.”
