BUYER BEWARE! WARNING! EVERY PAIR OF ECCO SHOES SOLD SHOULD HAVE A WARNING ON THEM THAT THE SOLES WILL DISINTEGRATE, TURN TO GOO OR FALL APART IF NOT WORN ALL OF THE TIME. I have known for many years they had a problem with soles but they are extremely comfortable so I kept buying them. I certainly didn’t know the extent of the problem until recently. I have had to throw away I think 3 pairs in the past because the soles got “tire rot” (Ecco has some fancy name for it)! I wore a pair of Ecco’s (photo #5) to work last month and the soles literally were falling off in chunks. The next day I wore a similar pair (photo #1) and the soles disintegrated with a path of dust following me. TWO DAYS IN A ROW! That night I came home and gathered all of my Ecco shoes and boots to inspect them. I OWN 13 PAIRS AND 8 PAIRS ARE GARBAGE!!! Most of them have very little wear as you can see from the pictures. I am sure the other 5 pairs don’t have long for this world as most are boots that don’t get worn often, but on looking at them right now they currently look ok. #1 Totally disintegrated as I walked and I wore these fairly often #2 Wore these many years ago for about a week, cracked and turned into goo and stick to everything, you can see the tar on my thumb from just touching the sole #3 Wear often yet still cracked #4 Goretex hiking boots that I wear often that have also cracked, needless to say no longer waterproof #5 Chunks fell off as I walked and I wore these fairly often #6 Very seldom wore these as they were the least comfortable, very little wear yet chunks are falling off the sides of the soles #7 Goretex winter hiking boots, chunks started falling off yesterday and this was the last straw as they have very little wear and are not very old, needless to say they are no longer waterproof #8 Sandals that were worn very seldom and soles have cracked This is well over $1,000 worth of shoes that are garbage and I challenge Ecco to tell me that this is normal. In looking at the top of these shoes do any of them look like they need to be thrown away??? NONE of these shoes should have been close to the end of their lives. If anyone doubts anything I am saying here just Google it… “Ecco soles disintegrate”, “Ecco soles crumble”, “Ecco soles crack”, “Ecco soles fall apart”. You will be astonished at the results you find. I have never been more disappointed in a company and their product as I have been with the quality of Ecco shoes. It would be one thing if these shoes were inexpensive but they are certainly not, they are extremely cheap, but not inexpensive! Again, BUYER BEWARE AND TAKE HEED OF THE WARNING THAT YOU WILL BE THROWING AWAY SHOES AND MONEY IF YOU DON’T WEAR ECCO SHOES REGULARLY! YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO OWN OLD ECCO'S!

Have bought 3 pairs of ECCO shoes over the years. Love the styling but the material used for the soles is CLEARLY defective. After 2-3 years the soles on every pair have disintegrated, literally coming apart in chunks. I have never experienced that in any other brand. I googled it and it is a common problem with ECCO shoes which is ridiculous, especially considering these are not cheap shoes. See photos of my last and final pair of ECCOs. Notice the upper leather in perfect condition. Rarely worn. But the soles falling apart! This happened to EVERY pair.

Ecco shoes are garbage!! I bought four pair about 6 years ago. I didn't wear them often. I kept them in the original boxes on my closet shelf. The shoes a NO GOOD ANYMORE. The soles became gummy and fall apart when I wear them. I had to throw four pairs of shoes out and they were like new. I was so embarrassing to go out with the shoes on only to have the soles stick to everything and fall apart at important events. Ecco only has a one year warranty. DO NOT BUY ECCO SHOES UNLESS YOU PLAN ON WEARING THEM ALL THE TIME, AND WEARING THEM OUT IN A YEAR OR TWO. THE SOLES BECOME GUMMY AND DISINTEGRATE IN A COUPLE OF YEARS. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN WITH ANY OTHER SHOE.

Still crumbling shoesoles and abysmal follow-up I had a pair of Ecco shoes some years ago where the soles crumbled the third time wearing them. Bad experience at the time but at least the store was helpful. Fast forward to recently, where I took a chance with Ecco shoes as they claimed that the problem with crumbling soles that they blamed on rare "hydrolysis" was solved. Mistake. The soles started disintegrating after about 15 days of use over multiple months. Shoes were stored in a dry and well ventilated place, so this is not about some freak hydrolysis. This is defective material and design. This time around, the online service was slow and the response was a runaround about helping the "customer" contact the store. No ownership of the problem by the manufacturer, no goodwill, no responsiveness. Lesson learned: Ecco is an untrustworthy company that keeps cheating on quality and service.

I owned two pair of Helsinki mens dress shoes, brown and black, and wore them for their comfort and styling, however after the rubber shoes disintegrated and separated from the uppers I cannot recommend them. The leather uppers remain in great condition but it is completely disappointing and embarrassing when one's shoes fall apart while wearing them.

Awful, awful customer service. They have misleading information on their website and cannot return what I bought to the store they have listed on their own website? this store should be banned. Stay away, people! not worth your money or time. Now I have to pay shipping for 2 pair of shoes that did not fit and need to return by mail. Zero stars if I could.

Purchased a pair white runners on the recommendation of your staff sale assistant, paid $259.95. The shoe on my right foot gave me a large blister which started to bleed. The other shoe on my left foot was perfect. The shoes purchased in February last year. I had spinal surgery in late March and thought the white sand shoes would help me when walking, for light exercise. I needed to rest (no walking) for eight weeks. I persevered thinking the leather in the heel of the shoe would soften and everything would be fine. It hasn’t and in the meantime I travelled overseas. Took the shoes to the store I purchased them Sydney City spoke to the Manager. Explained my situation showed the shoes informed her I did not want a refund or exchange I would like the heel of the shoe to be repaired as she could see the shoes have not been worn that much and many band aids on the heel of the shoe to prevent further injury. Prof of purchased was on my store history unfortunately because I had worn the shoes she could do nothing for me as the shoes are not faulty my feet are the problem. I have as well as my family have purchased many Ecco shoes both female and male shoes. I have never had a problem before. The manager told me to sent a email to your customer service don’t ring as you will be waiting for a long time. Went home very disappointed as she repeatedly said my feet are the problem and of course I have worn the shoes that is why I have a problem with them. Rang your customer service and again she informed that there is nothing your company can do for me. I feel that is unacceptable $259.95 for a pair of your shoes that I can not wear because they are causing me injury and pain. Most disappointed by your store manager, she was not interested in what I was telling her and insisting my feet are the problem not the shoes. I informed her I would ring customer service as I was not a happy existing customer. Ecco shoes was recommended by my podiatrist many years ago I will inform her about my experience and how unhelpful the staff in store and customer service are.

I had to return a pair of boots that were too big. After contacting Ecco twice, I finally received a refund after 2 months. Never again!

Shoe quality is ok on most offerings. Customer service has declined, exchanges are no longer available and agents seems all to happy to quote unhelpful policies and obscure delays in refunds or shipping. They are not alone in the space of declining on-line service but it's disappointing because they used to be pretty good. Brick and mortar are returning to my shopping wheelhouse.

Warning prospective ECCO purchasers: i got a pair of black dress boots and wore them less than 50 times. Then the heels and soles (which were not leather but some kind of artificial material) started to disintegrate. I left a trail of black particles when I walked. Since this issue occurred after the one year warranty period, I'm out of luck. Premium brand, ha!

I ordered shoes in November and I still have not received them. Ecco has done nothing to assist me with finding my shoes or offered up any solution. I’ve been a customer for years and have referred several people. I’ve always purchased shoes in the store, this was my first online purchase with them and will be my last purchase ever. Terrible customer service.

I purchased a Ecco men shoes a few years ago. I wear it on special occasions. I started to see some black pieces of plastic in the closet. After much investigation I found that it came from the shoes that was falling apart . It would be an embarrassment if this happened while away from home. New buy from this company again

I am extremely unhappy with the Ecco shoes company. I purchased a pair of Men's dress shoes and stored them in the original box in ideal conditions for years. I expect a new shoe to be perfect performing for walking and to last and last. I took the new pair out recently for the first time and just worn them about 1000 feet at a after funeral setting and the bottom rubber heal of the shoes started disengrading in to black gooey pieces. These pieces fell everywhere and continued to do so. My balance standing was all of a sudden in chaos. This was extremely embarrassing and it was very dangerous. Ecco has had many complaints from customers for years on this issue. All they did was issue me a $100 voucher to their very expensive website. Most of their dress shoes are well over $160 and most are $200 and more. I can find some of these shoes cheaper at other stores and websites so this voucher is practically useless. If you don't spend a certain amount then you need to pay for shipping as well. How can I trust buying another Ecco shoe after this? I will never buy another pair of Ecco shoes again as they really need to do much more to satisfy their customers!!!

Terrible quality, shoe falls apart with minimal usage. Reach out to their customer service, and they are only willing to offer a 100 voucher, but their shoes are 150+. I will never buy another pair of ecco due to poor product quality and misleading warranty.

I bought a pair of women's black loafers quite a few years ago. I loved those shoes and bought another pair for backup. The heel came off the original shoe and was disintigrating under the heels of both. I JUST took out the backup paid to wear and the sole is falling apart after two wears. Apparently the material in the soles and heels are made with inferior materials and will rot over time worn or not.

They've stolen my money and boots. I've had the most distressing experience. I was asked to send my faulty boots in. They've sent a low value voucher and they're asking me to pay for them. The customer advisor yelled at me on the phone and she was the most condescending human that I have ever dealt with. I've never felt this upset. As the company is European with no British presence, I am now having to reach out to trading standards to see if I can open a small claims court case against this company. Every member of staff has REFUSED to share to any line of escalations.
