Terrible Experience with Refund Processing I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience with Rentalcars.com. Despite the cancellation of cars upon pick-up by sixt.com for no reason, my refund has not been processed, leaving me frustrated and dissatisfied. The lack of timely resolution has significantly impacted my perception of their service. I have even contacted sixt team regarding my refund, but they emailed me that I booked through third party company so my refund will be process by rentalcars team. My reference number is 736721983 and reservation date is 14th October. It's been 56 days I'm waiting for my refunds from them. I have emailed all the relevant documents regarding my terrible incident and contacted customer service more than 20 times for this booking. Still not yet received my refund money

Rented a car from this company for $140, but when I picked up from the counter, they asked for $900+. What a scam company, where they first trick you book it, and then ask for 6X times of price when you actually need it. The worst part is that their customer support basically says we do not care about the so called customers, as they are all 1 time customer any way.

ITS SCAM RENTALCARS.COM ITS SCAM RENTALCARS.COM DO NOT BOOK FROM RENTAL CARS.COM . THAY CHARGE FROM BIGINING LOW FEE THEN PICKING UP THE CAR IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT FEES. MAKE SURE READ TERMS AND CONDITIONS ITS BETTER TO PAY SOME EXTRA MONEY AND RENT DIRECTLY FROM RENTAL CAR COMPANY THEN FROM RENTALCARS.COM

Rentalcars alongside their car hire partners (Thrifty) are working to rip off customers over petty charges which they do not cover, even when taking out their "Full Protection" Insurance. I was charged a cleaning fee of £75 by Thrifty UAE for minor biscuit crumbs on the floor, they were clearly trying it on as they initially attempted to charge me for damages that were already on the vehicle prior my rental and then eventually got me for a few biscuit crumbs. I travelled with children, while on holiday and they found their excuse and Rentalcars did nothing to support me. Rentalcars said that they thought that this was "more than a reasonable amount of cleaning after my rental". In all my years of hiring vehicles, I have never been charged with anything so minor, particularly when it only costs a couple of pounds to clean any vehicle. I cleared all the rubbish out prior returning the vehicle. Rentalcars claim procedure tells you to wait until you return from holiday to log your claim. When you return from holiday and try to raise your claim, they ask you for information which you can only obtain while still abroad. They then inform you that you cannot do anything without that required information and therefore your claim can no longer be progressed, so I'm now out of pocket. Absolute jokes. Avoid at all costs.

I am one of the many conned/misled customers of rentalcars.com as well. I have rented a car through their website with "Budget" - on arrival at the desk - I have been told that I need a "International Driving Permit" since my driving licence is "Turkish" driving licence. During the booking process - on the website I have clearly stated that I live in Turkey and my driving licence is Turkish. The booking went through and I had a confirmation mail saying - you are all booked and to pick up the car - you will need 1.Driving licence 2. passport or ID card 3.credit card 4.voucher... No where in the confirmation it says - you will need to provide "IDP". Apparently its in the terms and conditions which goes on and on... I can't get refund because I didn't provide the necessary paper work which I have no knowledge of. So I have to cancel my booking for the misleading website informalities and as well as getting stuck - I have to pay for the car rental I can't even have. I have rented so many cars before from so many different providers and no one ever asked me this document before - including "Budget/ Avis". And with a very poor customer service - the only response I get from rental cars is - "you agreed with our terms & conditions" so get on with it. Embarrassing and shameful business with matching customer service.

Rental-cars totally ripped me off for 260 pounds. My flight was delayed and although I contacted them through phone, messenger and e mail prior to arrival, they still closed the office. I rushed back to their office early the next morning to pick up the car to be told that the car had been hired out already! They didn’t have another vehicle and refused to give me my money back. Please don’t use this company, they don’t care about customer service or support.

I came to the office, asked for a car, without a card they wouldn't give it to me, then told me to delete my personal information and close the reservation. I even took away an A4 sheet with my data. I didn't get anything, and you took my money (113 eur) and now they closed the chat and stole my money! Absolutely AWFULLL!!!!

I rented a car at Rome airport via Rentalcars.com in September. The car type ordered was Nissan Juke or similar, and the price was €400 for two weeks, not including the full insurance cover, to be purchased on Rentalcover.com. The car hire company providing the car would be OKMOBILITY. At the rental desk the representative told me that they will give me a car which, in his words, cannot carry three people with air conditioning on. Despite my insistence to get the car I ordered, I was told that if I wanted a car which could carry three people with air conditioning on, I needed to take an upgrade. There was quite a crowd of renters at all rental companies' desks around and a line of people behind me, and I was in a hurry, so I couldn't change my rental to another company or start looking for Rentalcars.com support phone number, so I took an upgrade. This cost me another €385. After the rental was over, I asked Rentalcars.com for a refund, but my request was dismissed, because I didn't contact their representative in real time.

Do not use rentalcars.com. IT IS A SCAM. They are actually a fraudulent business. You should go directly to the rental car company to rent. If you put any deposit down with Rentalcars.com it does not go towards the rental. It WILL NOT be applied to the rental bill and you WILL NOT get the money back ever. They are owned by Priceline and Booking.com but they (Rentalcars.com are NOT reputable.

I rented a car in Montego Bay, Jamaica through Rentalcars.com. They confirmed a low rate and that was it. My flight was late on that day and I attempted to cancel the reservation and they received the cancellation. When I arrived in Montego Bay, I contacted them and was informed that the rental charge was double what was quoted - so I did not pick up the car as this was clearly a bait-and-switch operation. Three days later they said they could not cancel the reservation and were billing me for the entire week. I have since disputed this transaction with my credit card company. Do not do business with this company - they are not reputable and indulge in a bait-and-switch operation

The rental process was Ok, but I made the mistake of getting their unnecessary insurance. They say you can cancel it but then they became unavailable, then they asked me for the receipt of the insurance I did get with the rental company, and then they started bouncing me from clerk to clerk claiming they can't open the file, made me save it as a PDF, JPG, take screen shots, and generally make a fool of myself. I ended up writing them to either give me the refund or never contact me again and I'll simply write my opinion of them as a review - and here it is...

Usually love this company but have had 2 bad experiences lately. All good if things go right but they aren't so good at refunding if there are issues - even if you follow their small print to the letter. Just beware. Best only use them if you're happy to pay for the car even if an emergency happens and you can't use it. Their small print says if you 'cancel at the pick up location on the day stated in your booking' they'll 'refund what you paid minus the cost of three days of your rental'. They refused to do this for me because although I cancelled at the pick up location with the rental company on the day as stated, (as I was injured and couldn't drive) I didn't contact rentalcars.com themselves (only the rental car provider) and so they won't refund me the rest of the money. This is unclear in the wording of their policy so do be aware of this unfair get-out scheme. I am really disappointed as have used them many many times and recommended them to many friends.

3 hour wait at San Jose Airport due to Dollar Rental having no cars. Dollar stated it is due to RentalCars.com overbooked without checking inventory. Tried to speak to a Rentalcars.com manager or supervisor but no one came to the phone. Stated it is their policy not to have them speak on the phone. Asked how to file a complaint, stated I had to wait until the rental was completed. There is no way to submit a complaint immediately. Gave no compensation for the 3 hour delay. I will never use Rentalcars.com again or Priceline.com which according to Dollar is the same.

Avoid this company! They are scamming their clients. The voucher that I got from them was missing important info about international driving permit/license. And looks like it was made for one reason - to convince clients not to take an international permit and at pick up rent company just says you - If you have no international permit or you are paying for extra insurance or you are not getting the car. Perfect way to force clients to pay extra money for nothing. And rentalcars even doesn't tried to talk to rent company. Whey to do that if they getting commission from them (even maybe commission for extra insurance also). Conclusion - you can use this site to find best deal, but never order on site. Go to rent company site and order there. In this way you will get better price and more important you will avoid situation when you have no address to talk with, otherwise rent company and rentalcars will ping pong you without taking responsibility.
