I have subscribed to a free of charge 28 trial with Shaw Academy and have joined a Digital Marketing course. I have then proceeded to sign up for a Vlogging, Blogging course, where I have received a message from PayPal advising me of potential fraudulent activity on my account. Upon logging onto my PayPal, I have noticed that £44.99 have been taken from my account without my consent for a course materials I did not purchases nor I was aware that there were being purchased on my behalf. I have immediately contacted PayPal and tried to contact Shaw Academy to resolve. As I had to provide Shaw Academy with my PayPal/bank details upon signing due to the free trial (this is a standard procedure for any free trials), therefore I did not suspect anything fraudulent at this stage. I have not consented, nor authorised or agreed to any additional payments, nor I had any intend to do so, or use those materials. After reading further reviews online, I was deeply shocked to see amount of people being scammed by this company and have been subject to the same experience as I did. I have contacted the company and raised the complaint/query however I am yet to hear from them. Reading the reviews and the tactics this company involves themselves, I have a little faith that they will respond or resolve the dispute accordingly, since they do engage in such fraudulent behaviour. I have also opened the dispute with PayPal, and I am prepared to take it much further should my claims be unsuccessful. Also to proceed with the cancelation of the membership, you will have to contact them via phone call (this is the only option). When you do cancel your free subscription, make sure to remove pre-authorised payments for Shaw Academy on your PaylPal or bank, as there is hundreds of people who have been charged regardless of the cancellation and were unable to claim refunds. Please stay away from this company! I am surprised they haven't been blocked by PayPal just yet or have their services suspended due to amount of people they have scammed.

As per hundreds of other complaints, I was charged for toolkit that I didn't want in the first place! I have sent many emails to Shaw Academy support but don't receive any response!

ccount, I had no money to buy food, no money to buy a Christmas present for my son, and my credit card was NOT paid incurring charges. Unacceptable. Illegal. This company is very clever at luring you in with free course materials, free trial etc, I signed up for a free trial and they took 3 payments from my account without my permission. I wrote to them 23rd wanting a full refund because they took money WITHOUT MY PERMISSION from MY ACCOUNT. I got a phonecall from a call centre in India telling me i can have lifetime membership! I just wanted a free trial!!!(I dont want a lifetime membership) I was told that I asked for the tools etc, I asked or pressed nothing. Either something very wrong with their computer system or this is the biggest scam in the Name of Education. I also complained of the harassing texts to complete a transaction, I got so many messages while in the doctor's surgery harassment is not the word. I decide when I pay for something or NOT. But they still took the money. I sent emails. The guy Marcus on the line reads off a script, couldn't answer yes or no, just repeated parrot-fashion over and over again that I'm getting a Lifetime Membership and a refund is NOT possible. I explained I have a mental health problem, I am with the NHS Acute Mental Health Team for Acute PTSD. I want a full refund, My Money was taken without MY permission, which is Fraud. This has left me desolate over Christmas( thank you to Shaw Academy whose Fat Cats at the top are Stealing Fraudulently taking money from accounts without Permission) taking advantage of students and single parents living in poverty like myself! I couldn't care less about a Lifetime Membership! I will be taking this to the Financial Ombudsman as I think it's time for Shaw Academy to get redress! I will be also reporting this as Fraud to my bank account and I will be sticking and pasting this review in every Shaw Academy Review on every website I see. I will also be writing to my MP to address this Fraudulent Education Company. I will be writing to the Education Minister the same. I will be writing to my Bank. All because taking MY Money from my account without my permission is stealing- food out of My Son's Mouth. Shaw Academy claims that the organization is accredited by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). This is not truth. The Academy lost this accreditation on 24 July 2019. Today, Shaw Academy is not an accredited institution. Any claim of accreditation is not legit. Distraught Single Mother

This company is a scam, sign up at your own risk. My story is similar to others; I signed up for a free trial. I even kept my eye on the end date and made sure to call and cancel (They make it extremely difficult to cancel and you must jump through hoops in order to do so). They offered to give me one more month free and one of their useless toolkits and assured me my account would be canceled after that month. Well it was not and now I have been charged $250 by these scammers. They have outright refused to refund me. Their classes are pretty useless and they make it seem like you are attending a live class when that is not the case. Website is clunky and content is basic. Customer service is rude and extremely lacking. They are money grubbing scammers. Stay away. Update: I managed to get someone on the phone to finally properly cancel and guess what? They charged me again on the same day. I am extremely upset and considering gathering all those who have been scammed by these fraudsters to sue them.

Trustpilot reviews Categories My Reviews My Settings Help LOG OUT Alternate Text Stevie GB For companies Review of shawacademy.co.uk Stevie 5 reviews 1 star: Bad 8 hours ago PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE YOU EVEN… PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE YOU EVEN CONSIDER A FREE TRIAL WITH THIS COMPANY: I signed up for a free trial with the Shaw academy after receiving a free trial link by email. I joined their Diploma of Excel course with my first class booked for 2pm on 31st May 2020. I joined the class platform earlier than 2pm and noticed a link at the bottom of the page mentioning an 'e-certificate'. Wanting to know a little more about it I clicked on this link and without any further confirmation was charged 39.95 pounds. The link did not include the price and although it stated something along the lines of 'one click purchase' I thought that meant that it could be easily purchased after reading further information on its requirements etc. It did not present as a 'buy it now' button but was a highlighted banner of text and appears to have been designed to be deliberately unclear. This is on top of the fact that I was accessing the site as part of a 'free trial' and so one would expect that additional costs would be made much clearer. I believe the link is designed in this way to essentially coerce people into clicking it accidentally. As soon as I realised this had happened and quite upset by having been charged a relatively large amount for a document I had no use for / had not wanted nor authorised, I left the class and ended my free trial so have not accessed this 'e-certificate' in any way nor any classes with this company. I then contacted Shaw Academy by email on 31st May and the reply I received back on the 1st June was clearly automated, did not address my refund request at all and instead stated that they had in fact extended my free trial to give me further opportunity to use their service. Extending this without my request or permission but with my payment details clearly still attached to my account. I consider wholly unethical business practice and if you search them on this site, PayPal and instagram you will see that 100s of people have been scammed in this way. The 'ad' for the e-certificate does not from my understanding meet legal standards and I have reported this to the ASA amongst other regulatory bodies. In two more emails to the company about my refund request and wanting to receive confirmation that my account has been closed they've offered firstly $199 in online credit for their account and then in their latest email $499! Seems ridiculous to be trying to upsell to a customer who has explicitly requested their account to be closed on 3 occasions and I am still yet to receive any notice that my account has been closed despite these requests and actively ending my free trial one day into it! I am really concerned about how this company is trying to capitalise on the covid19 lockdown and take advantage of people attempting to upskill for 'free' during a very difficult period. PLEASE DON'T GET CAUGHT OUT LIKE I DID. This company use coercive one click payment links, that according to further negative reviews on Trust Pilot and Britain Reviews, can pop up at any time and can be easily clicked by accident and they are renowned for making it very difficult to cancel subscriptions leading to people being charged for these despite multiple attempts to close accounts. The reliability of their positive reviews on this very site have also been questioned. Look at the positive reviews and compare them to the negative ones? Which ones seem like actual people and not automated bots? Really concerned about the amount of people who will be scammed into essentially unauthorised payments to this company and so if my review can prevent just one of you going through what I have I'll be very pleased with myself.

Attempted to cancel, but the company use deceptive tactics to try avoid cancellation and have now charged me for an alleged service on the website which was definitely not used. We have attempted to contact the company for a refund but they have refused. They even referred to us by the wrong name in their email correspondence to us. If they can't even get our name correct how do they even know who or what to charge.

Refuse to cancel the membership and don't issue refund. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND CURRICULUM. WON'T ISSUE REFUND EVEN IF YOU WISH TO CANCEL OR LET THE TRIAL EXTENDED BY ACCIDENT. I signed up for a trial and after one login, I didn't even bother to comeback because I find the cirriculum isn't helpful at all. It required you to sign up for a trial with a payment and didn't notify about the membership activation. I emailed their support and asked for a cancelation and refund because 1. I barely or never use the platform 2. It is not helpful for my personal need 3. I completely forgot about the membership until I saw the charge of 60USD on my bank statement. I've worked with other vendors about this issue in the past and have had no problem but Shaw Academy is a different story. They aren't in for education at all, they are in for your money. The cirriculum is not as good as any other free online course out there. They used examples of tv provider, mobile phone carrier, GYM membership (it basically tells me how low they are when you have to compare yourself with sketchy GYM membership....). After my explanation, a person named ROY decided to "offer solutions that greatly outweigh the cost of the refund requests: With the additional 06-months access". How does it outweight the cost if one never uses the platform? During the pandemic, I hope they show a sympathy as people are looking to learn new skills, but the company is the opposite. It offers no help, and take as much money as possible to what they call "students".

Absolute SCAM. Do not give Credit Card details. You can't cancel. I resorted to asking my bank to cancel my credit card because they kept charging subscription fees. Does not matter if you complete cancellation form. Does no matter if you complain. Does not matter if you call their cancellation number. They keep charging. Courses and also completely rubbish when compared to other providers. You have been warned.

One of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. Signed up for a free trial, and before the end of the trial requested multiple times to cancel my subscription so it would not renew. Still ended up being charged a renewal after the first month. Also, the fact you have to ring during limited office hours to cancel, even though all it does is connect you to an automated response is appalling. Almost impossible to get hold of due to limited customer service channels (no direct contact through phone or live chat) you're only able to request them to call you. Once speaking to a member of their 'retention team' they refused to refund their mistake. After telling them that numerous people have had the same issue with them, they belittled their user base saying that it was people making mistakes, insulting their former members. I was told I was 'angry' despite remaining calm, again basically being insulted by the operative. They have zero care for their customer base and just see each person as dollar signs. They make it difficult to contact them, and then when you do, the operative on the other line has zero genuine care for their issue. Note they have been found to manipulate review scores in the past as more evidence of their shady behaviour.

Shaw Academy is nothing more but a SCAM. They have took £49.99 from my account without consent. Prior to that, they harassed me via email almost non-stop, which was a huge red flag. Also, I have noticed there is no invoice or confirmation payment once the money goes through. In other words, they have stolen my money directly. Please be careful of sending your personal details to companies. Luckily there is a solution to this problem. Shaw academy will not give your refund back but your bank will return your stolen cash. My bank has barred Shaw academy from stealing my money for future reference. As long as you have the evidence on, you bank will support you on this situation. The lesson we can learn from this is be mindful who you send your bank details to. You never know who may steal your money or not.

THIS COMPANY IS A TOTAL SCAM AND GARBAGE. 8 MONTHS AFTER CANCELLING MY ACCOUNT, THEY CHARGED MY CARD. THEY WOULD NOT REFUND MY MONEY AND INSTEAD OFFERED ME EXTRAS WHICH I HAD NO INTEREST IN. I HAD TO DISPUTE THE CHARGE WITH MY BANK. AFTER SENDING SHAW THE EMAIL FROM WHEN I CANCELLED MY ACCOUNT, THEY CHARGED MY CARD AGAIN IN TO SMALLER CHARGES, I GUESS TO BE SNEAKY. I HAD TO DISPUTE THOSE CHARGES AND THEN CANCEL MY CARD AND GET A NEW ONE. THEY ARE GARBAGE, STAY AWAY.

I have never dealt with a worse company, they are complete frauds. Signed upto a 4week trial, tried to cancel after 3 days by email as the would not allow me to do on my account. They still took 49.99 from my account after the 4 week trial. Contacted them again to cancel and they could not give me a refund but confirmed they have cancelled my membership. 1 year later and they have started taking money from my account again. Will not refund me and said my account will be cancelled after my membership had ended which is dated next year. I never signed up to to any membership and I will be contacting my solicitor regarding my cancellation. It's complete fraud. I never even used their services. I'm warning everyone to stay clear of them, they will find a way to keep takìng money from your account. All you need to do is check the reviews to see they are doing the same to everyone, It's an absolute disgrace they are doing this, even worse we are in a worldwide pandemic. This company should be closed down for fraud!!!!

I canceled my subscription. They kept charging me two times. I sent them an email, they never replied at all. I was going to have to dispute the bank. After, they're getting contacted by the bank. They answered me with no refund whatsoever. Let's report to the United Kingdom Police and Consumer Rights and Dispute Resolution. Shaw Academy must shut down immediately!

This company is a scam, DON'T give your information. They made it impossible to cancel the account. They charged me $69.99 without my consent. I request a refund for the charge, but I could get no response. You cannot cancel the membership from website.. You have to call.. And you cannot resolve a payment/refund issue on the phone, you have to email... But never get a response. I got python classes. They did not even record one of the classes and one class was only 17 minutes. No quality, not reliable..

0 stars SHAW ACADEMY A SCAM, not returning my money 0 stars. Extremely furious on this company and on top of that their attitude. Just one accidental click for free trial and they start deducting money every month. Oh man, cmon how can you charge people for not using your services. They kept on contacting to book a class, I never enrolled into a course, never booked any class, never attended any session how can they charge me for months n months n months. On top of that when you ask for your hard earned money they are rude to you on phone, they yell at you and hung up the call that they can't refund the money. in turn they send an email that issue has been resolved. This company is a scam. They report their negative reviews and get fake positive reviews to balance out the negative to get a good rating. BEWARE OF THIS SCAM

Started a free trial via Facebook, but couldn't set up payment or password. Emailed them asking them to remove any subscription and data. Was informed that there was no subscription or data. 28 days later they steal £49.99, out of my bank account. I have emailed and emailed, sent them all the info from the initial email. They just keep saying they can't refund me.
